Visage is the closest documented follow-up to P.T.’s looping-house unease, while MADiSON, Layers of Fear, SOMA and Silent Hill 2 each reproduce a different part of the experience. None is an objective replacement for P.T.; choose according to whether you want a changing domestic space, camera-led puzzles, existential science-fiction dread or a larger symbolic horror story.
What “games like P.T.” actually means
P.T. became a reference point for a very specific type of psychological horror: first-person movement through a familiar space, clues that only make sense after several passes, puzzles that alter your understanding of the environment, and dread that grows without relying on constant combat. The fear comes from uncertainty. A hallway may not be the same hallway on the next loop, an ordinary household object may become a warning, and the story may arrive through fragments rather than exposition.

The recommendations below share those ingredients to different degrees. Some are direct first-person survival-horror experiences; others move into science fiction, symbolic horror or conventional combat. Treat the list as a map of influences and moods, not a promise that any title recreates P.T.’s exact structure.

Visage: the closest documented P.T. influence
If you want the nearest conceptual successor, start with Visage. Its developer, SadSquare Studio, explicitly identifies P.T. as a major influence: “Though we were heavily inspired by the brilliant and matchless P.T., we also drew upon influences from classic psychological horror games like Phantasmagoria and from more recent ones like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, as well as from horror movies like The Grudge.” That statement makes Visage different from games that merely share a marketing label or a first-person camera.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
You explore a house with a terrible history, searching rooms for evidence while the building’s layout and condition become increasingly unreliable. The design stretches ordinary domestic details into sources of threat: doors, corridors, lighting and familiar possessions can all become part of the investigation. Progress depends on noticing environmental clues and understanding what the house is communicating rather than simply collecting ammunition.
Visage also uses a sanity-pressure system. Remaining in darkness, witnessing disturbing events and failing to manage your surroundings can make perception less dependable and increase your vulnerability. Because the protagonist is not equipped for conventional combat, the practical response to danger is to hide, break line of sight or find a safer route. That combination of a defenseless player, a mutable home and gradual psychological pressure is why Visage is the strongest first choice for a P.T. fan.
It is also the most demanding recommendation here. The game expects you to search thoroughly, remember changes between visits and tolerate uncertainty about what counts as a clue. If you prefer clear objectives or frequent action, its slow pace may feel oppressive rather than suspenseful. If you enjoy working out a space’s rules while the space keeps violating them, it is the best fit.

MADiSON: camera-led supernatural puzzles
MADiSON is the pick when the part of P.T. you remember most is the feeling that an object can reveal another reality. The protagonist uses a possessed instant camera to connect the human world with the beyond. Photography is not a cosmetic gimmick: it is the main way the game exposes information, triggers interactions and turns apparently ordinary rooms into puzzle spaces.
Expect to examine objects, interpret visual changes and decide when taking a picture is useful or dangerous. The camera gives the game a clear interaction language, so its puzzles feel different from Visage’s broader environmental searching. You are still exploring a threatening domestic setting, but the investigation is organized around what the lens can reveal and how supernatural events alter your surroundings.

The official description calls MADiSON a “FIRST PERSON PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR GAME” and states that it is “OUT NOW.” That wording accurately signals its priorities: first-person exploration, puzzle solving and survival under supernatural pressure. The camera also creates a deliberate rhythm. You may need to enter an exposed area to frame a shot, wait for an event to develop, then interpret the result before you know where to go next.
Choose MADiSON over Visage if you want a more defined central mechanic and puzzles that repeatedly ask you to think through images. Choose Visage if you want the building itself, rather than one device, to be the primary source of uncertainty.
Layers of Fear: when the house stops obeying reality
Layers of Fear focuses on a Victorian house that twists through fear, decay and psychological breakdown. Its strongest connection to P.T. is spatial instability: rooms can spin, stretch, rearrange themselves or appear to continue endlessly. You are not simply walking through a haunted building; you are investigating a place whose geometry reflects the character’s deteriorating state.
The game’s domestic setting supports a different kind of puzzle design from MADiSON. You inspect rooms, collect contextual details and solve environmental problems while the house changes around you. A doorway that seemed to offer a safe route can open onto a new configuration, and a familiar object can become evidence of a hidden narrative thread. The resulting tension comes from not knowing whether a change is a scripted transformation, a clue or a trap.
Threats are handled primarily through evasive action. The environment itself can be the menace, with visual and architectural shifts undermining your sense of direction. That makes Layers of Fear a good choice for players who value theatrical set pieces and unreliable space more than strict survival-resource management.

Its similarity to P.T. is thematic and structural rather than a documented direct lineage in the material available here. Think of it as a companion mood: a domestic investigation in which the rules of the building keep changing. It is less suitable if you want every puzzle to resolve into a tightly explained mechanical system.
SOMA: existential dread beneath the surface
SOMA moves the formula away from a haunted house and into the underwater PATHOS-II facility. You investigate terminals, read documents and piece together a machine-versus-human mystery while resources fail and the station becomes more hostile. The setting is science fiction, but the psychological effect is familiar: you are isolated, uncertain about what is real and forced to infer the story from traces left behind.
Its puzzles are generally rooted in systems and information. You may need to understand a terminal, locate a document, restore a function or decide how to interpret a technological situation before moving forward. The emphasis is on comprehension and moral unease rather than on repeating a hallway until a hidden trigger appears.
SOMA’s threats are designed around vulnerability. You normally survive by observing patterns, choosing when to move and escaping rather than defeating enemies in combat. Failing resources and hostile creatures make every excursion feel consequential, while the facility’s logs and machinery provide a steady stream of context.
Select SOMA if what you want from P.T. is slow-burn investigation, oppressive isolation and questions about identity. It is not the right choice if your priority is a suburban or Victorian house that loops in on itself. Its horror expands outward from a location into a philosophical problem, and that change in scale is the point.

Silent Hill 2: the larger symbolic psychological-horror structure
Silent Hill 2 offers the broadest psychological-horror framework in this group. Konami’s premise follows James Sunderland to Silent Hill after he receives a letter from his deceased wife. The town’s fog, monsters and locations function as symbols as well as obstacles, so the story asks you to interpret James’s past while navigating a conventional survival-horror structure.
The game combines exploration, puzzle solving and a wider combat system than the other recommendations. You are not confined to one repeating domestic route, and the experience is less dependent on first-person immersion. In exchange, you get a more expansive journey with multiple locations, character encounters and narrative consequences tied to what James discovers.
Konami lists the remake for PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam, and Konami support also lists Xbox Series X|S. Its release date was 8 October 2024. Store availability and edition details can vary by region, so check the current listing for your country before buying.
Choose Silent Hill 2 when you want P.T.’s psychological symbolism developed into a full-length story rather than a compact spatial experiment. It is the strongest option for readers who want character-driven themes and a town-sized mystery, but it is not the closest match for a first-person looping corridor.
Choose by the ingredient you want most
If you want a changing house
Start with Visage for slow domestic dread, then try Layers of Fear if you prefer more overt architectural transformations and theatrical shifts. Both make the home itself central, but Visage emphasizes survival pressure and investigation while Layers of Fear emphasizes unstable presentation and psychological spectacle.

If you want puzzles built around a device
Pick MADiSON. The instant camera gives you a consistent question to ask in each area: what can this lens reveal, and what will happen when I use it here? That focus makes the game easier to distinguish from environmental-search horror.
If you want fear from ideas rather than ghosts
Pick SOMA. Its underwater facility, failing systems and machine-human mystery turn isolation into an existential problem. The horror is carried as much by what you learn as by what chases you.
If you want a complete symbolic narrative
Pick Silent Hill 2. Its fog-bound town and James’s personal story provide a larger arc, with combat and puzzles supporting themes that unfold across several locations.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow to approach these games for the strongest effect
- Play in sessions long enough to remember the space. These games rely on changes you notice between visits. Very short sessions can make a deliberate mystery feel like random backtracking.
- Use headphones and a dim room if comfortable. Directional sound, distant movement and subtle environmental changes carry much of the tension. Stop or increase the lighting if the experience becomes physically uncomfortable.
- Keep a small clue log. Note locked doors, symbols, unusual sounds, object locations and changes after major events. This is especially useful in Visage and MADiSON, where the game expects observation rather than a constant objective marker.
- Do not rush to look up a solution. A hint can remove the intended discovery. If you are stuck, review your notes, revisit rooms and test what changed after the last clear event before searching for a guide.
- Check platform and edition information locally. Store listings can differ by country, console generation and edition. This matters most for Silent Hill 2, whose documented listings include PS5, PC/Steam and Xbox Series X|S.
What none of these games can promise
No recommendation can reproduce the exact cultural moment or compact structure of P.T. The available evidence supports a direct developer-stated influence for Visage; the connections for MADiSON, Layers of Fear, SOMA and Silent Hill 2 are best understood as shared ingredients, moods or design traditions. Expect differences in viewpoint, pacing, puzzle logic, combat and story scale.
P.T. itself should be treated here as a reference point, not as a currently verified purchase recommendation. Availability and legitimate access can change, so do not assume that a listing or download is official merely because it uses the name.

After choosing a game, readers interested in criticism and design context can look for Horror Video Games: Essays on the Fusion of Fear and Play. It is a companion book about how fear functions in games, not a playable substitute for any title on this list.
The Bottom Line
Start with Visage for the closest documented P.T. influence. Choose MADiSON for camera puzzles, Layers of Fear for a reality-shifting house, SOMA for existential science-fiction dread, or Silent Hill 2 for a larger symbolic psychological-horror story.
