If you’re looking for games like Guns of Eschaton, first note that it isn’t pitched as a reflex-first, fast-paced shooter. Its Steam demo says, “This is not a fast-paced shooter where reflexes alone ensure victory.” The game is instead a deliberate, high-stakes, soulslike FPS built around studying enemies, choosing ammunition, and timing parries and dashes. The recommendations below are grouped by the parts of that experience you may want more of—not just by the fact that they are shooters.
What makes a game feel like Guns of Eschaton?
Guns of Eschaton is described on its official Steam page as a first-person soulslike shooter in an apocalyptic Western. The free standalone demo
The free Steam demo launched October 5, 2026. The official listing presents it as a standalone adventure that showcases the world, atmosphere, combat, enemies, weapons, and core systems. It is not the opening chapter of the full campaign or a slice of the complete game. Steam lists single-player, PvP, co-op, and controller support for the demo.

The full game is still a separate upcoming release
The Steam listing describes the full game as planned, rather than available. It announces more than 20 weapons inspired by nineteenth-century firearms, along with custom bullets, talismans, armor, consumables, sacramental powers, and broader progression. Those are planned full-game features, not content established by the demo. A June 30, 2026 4Divinity announcement said the game was expected on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series; that is a platform plan, not confirmation of release or current availability.
Choose an alternative by the part you want to match
There is no supported one-to-one comparison list in the available coverage, so use these distinctions when choosing what to play next. Verify a candidate’s current platforms and modes on its own store page before buying; a shared mechanic or mood does not guarantee an identical experience.

If you want the deliberate, high-stakes combat
Look for shooters that reward observation and controlled timing more than constant movement. The key comparison is not simply difficulty: it is whether encounters ask you to learn attack patterns, find openings, or manage scarce resources. Those are the central ideas in Guns of Eschaton, whose official Steam description emphasizes enemy weaknesses and calculated defensive actions.

If you want ammunition choices and enemy weaknesses
Prioritize games where weapon selection or damage types meaningfully change how you approach an enemy. In Guns of Eschaton, the announced Codex is meant to expose weaknesses through a Sequence Points system, and specialized ammunition is part of the publisher’s description. Because that progression is described as planned, treat it as a design direction rather than a feature demonstrated in full-game form.

If you want buildcrafting or a soulslike structure
Check whether a candidate’s progression changes moment-to-moment combat—through weapons, abilities, equipment, or character development—or mainly serves as a long-term reward loop. Guns of Eschaton is explicitly called a soulslike FPS, and its full-game description announces several customization systems. A shooter with upgrades may share build experimentation without sharing its soulslike combat structure.
If you want to play with other people
Confirm the exact mode before choosing: co-op campaign progression, drop-in co-op, PvP, and separate multiplayer modes are not interchangeable. Steam lists co-op and PvP for the Guns of Eschaton demo, while the publisher’s June 2026 announcement says solo and co-op progression are planned for the full game. The listing does not establish that the demo’s multiplayer features represent the full game’s final modes.

If you want the occult Western atmosphere
Search for the setting and tone separately from the combat. The game’s announced identity combines an apocalyptic journey across nineteenth-century America with occult powers and monsters. A Western shooter may offer the frontier without supernatural horror, while an occult FPS may share the mood but not the firearms or setting.
How demanding is the demo?
One Creative Bloq reviewer reported struggling with body-part aiming, the order in which enemies should be hit, parry timing, and remembering to cock the gun, and described the game as requiring patience. That is one reviewer’s hands-on account, not a measured consensus or a guarantee that every player will find the same challenges. It does, however, illustrate why the game’s “fast-paced” label can mislead: its stated design asks for attention and deliberate execution.

- Decide what you want to repeat. Choose combat timing, enemy analysis, equipment experimentation, multiplayer, or the setting—not merely “FPS.”
- Check the game’s actual mode. Look for solo campaign, co-op progression, or competitive PvP specifically; do not assume that one implies another.
- Try the Guns of Eschaton demo if its premise appeals. It is free on Steam and is designed as a standalone demonstration, so do not expect it to continue into the full campaign.
- Treat future features as plans. The weapons count, customization systems, full-game platforms, and solo/co-op progression are announced intentions; the sources do not establish a full-game launch date or final availability.
The announced developer is Eschatology Entertainment, with 4Divinity named as exclusive worldwide publisher and distributor. Viktor Antonov is identified in the publisher announcement as the art director whose vision shaped the world.
