FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS is no longer an active live-service game. Square Enix ended service on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT. The game launched on iOS and Android on September 7, 2023, followed by Steam on December 6, 2023, but those launch dates do not establish that a working client remains downloadable or playable now.
There is one clearly supported follow-up for players who mainly want another official Final Fantasy VII story: Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion. It is a paid RPG remaster centered on Zack Fair, not a mobile replacement or an ongoing free-to-play service. For other mobile games, the safest approach is to match Ever Crisis’s specific features—chapter-based storytelling, party tactics, character and equipment progression, and short-session conveniences—then verify that each candidate is still operating before installing it.

Ever Crisis has reached end of service
Square Enix’s end-of-service notice dated July 8, 2026, set the shutdown for October 6, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT. Because the current date is after that deadline, Ever Crisis should be treated as a closed service rather than as a game new players can reliably start.

The notice does not say whether an offline mode, archival build, or permanently playable client survives. Do not assume that an old installation will authenticate, that downloads remain in either mobile store, or that saved progress can be recovered. The notice also does not describe a transfer route into another game.

Square Enix listed Ever Crisis as a role-playing game for iOS, Android, and Steam, free to play with in-app purchases. Those labels describe the original release model, not its status after the shutdown.
“After careful consideration, however, we have determined that it will be difficult to continue doing so and have made the decision to end service.”
What made Ever Crisis distinctive
Choosing a replacement works better when you separate the game’s identity into the features players actually used. Ever Crisis combined several Final Fantasy VII stories in one mobile-focused package instead of presenting a single conventional campaign.

| Ever Crisis characteristic | What to look for in another game |
|---|---|
| Franchise-spanning story | Chapters that make narrative progress the main activity, whether the setting is original or part of an established universe. |
| Mobile-tailored Active Time Battles | Hybrid or turn-based combat that gives you meaningful decisions without requiring a controller or long uninterrupted sessions. |
| Party construction | Several playable units whose roles, abilities, or equipment can be combined for different encounters. |
| Character and gear progression | Upgradeable characters, weapons, armor, skills, materia-like abilities, or another system that changes how a team performs. |
| Command Stance and Limit Combo systems | A combat model with deliberate timing, tactical commands, or a way to coordinate a party-wide burst. |
| Summons and expeditions | Optional side systems that reward sending characters on timed activities or collecting powerful special abilities. |
| Mobile conveniences | Touch-first controls, short battles, speed or auto options, and a presentation that works in brief sessions. |
A game can resemble Ever Crisis on one axis and feel entirely different on another. A story-heavy title may lack collection mechanics; a character-collection game may not offer comparable manual control; and a premium RPG may provide a complete campaign without any live-service systems. Decide which of these differences matter before treating a title as a substitute.
The closest official story follow-up: Crisis Core Reunion
What it is
Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion is a remaster focused on Zack Fair. Square Enix describes updated graphics, a revised soundtrack, an updated interface, and updated combat. It is the strongest named option for someone whose priority is another official Final Fantasy VII narrative rather than a replacement for Ever Crisis’s service model.
What it is not
Reunion is not established by the available official information as a mobile game, and it is not presented as a free-to-play live service. It should therefore be approached as a paid, self-contained RPG. Check the store for the platform you own before buying; the cited announcement does not establish a universal mobile release or current retailer stock.

| Question | Ever Crisis | Crisis Core Reunion |
|---|---|---|
| Story focus | Multiple stories from the Final Fantasy VII universe in a mobile RPG structure. | Zack Fair’s Final Fantasy VII story in a remastered RPG. |
| Release model | Originally free to play with in-app purchases; service ended October 6, 2026. | Paid RPG; price and platform availability depend on the store and edition. |
| Mobile substitute | Designed for iOS and Android, with a Steam version launched later. | Not established as a mobile substitute by the cited Square Enix information. |
| Long-term access | Dependent on an online service that has ended. | Presented as a remaster rather than an ongoing service; verify the edition and platform before purchase. |
If what you miss most is seeing familiar characters and filling in Final Fantasy VII history, Reunion addresses that desire more directly than an unrelated mobile title. If what you miss is touch control, automatic battles, frequent events, or a collectible roster, it does not promise those same experiences.
How to evaluate a mobile RPG replacement
No currently active mobile title can be ranked as a definitive Ever Crisis replacement from the available official material. Use the following comparison questions when you investigate any candidate in your region.
1. Check the story structure
- Is the narrative delivered in playable chapters, or is it mostly optional dialogue around repeatable stages?
- Does the game tell an original story, retell an existing one, or use a licensed universe?
- Can you continue the campaign without joining a guild, spending money, or waiting for a limited event?
- Are story chapters permanently available, or can they disappear when a season ends?
2. Identify the combat model
- Determine whether battles are real-time, turn-based, or a hybrid Active Time Battle design.
- Look for manual control over targets, abilities, defensive actions, and team timing.
- Check whether auto-play and speed controls can be disabled when you want tactical control.
- Find out whether the game requires a constant connection even during single-player fights.
3. Measure party and collection depth
- Is the cast fixed, recruitable, or collectible through randomised draws?
- Can different teams succeed, or does progression push every player toward one required roster?
- Are weapons and equipment permanent unlocks, expendable items, or time-limited rewards?
- Does upgrading a character change available abilities, statistics, or only cosmetic presentation?
4. Test the mobile fit
- Read the device requirements and recent update notes for your exact operating-system version.
- Check whether a battle can be completed in a few minutes and whether progress saves between sessions.
- Look for touch-friendly menus, readable text on a phone, and optional downloads that do not consume your entire storage budget.
- Confirm whether the same account works across mobile and PC if you want to switch screens.
5. Understand service and monetization
- Find the developer’s latest service announcement, not just an old store description.
- Separate a one-time purchase from subscriptions, energy systems, battle passes, and randomised character or equipment draws.
- Read the refund and account rules before making a purchase; an in-app item may have no value if the service later closes.
- Check whether offline play is explicitly promised. If it is not, assume access depends on servers.
A practical verification checklist before installing
- Open the official store page for your country. Confirm that the listing is live, the developer name is correct, and the minimum iOS or Android version matches your phone.
- Read the newest official notice. Search the publisher’s news or support page for maintenance, suspension, regional restrictions, or an announced end date.
- Inspect the last several update notes. A title can remain visible in a store while receiving no meaningful support. Look for dated patches and clear explanations of ongoing operation.
- Review the connection requirement. The words “online required,” “account required,” or “server maintenance” indicate that access is service-dependent.
- Map the first-hour experience to your priorities. Check whether the opening actually demonstrates story chapters, manual commands, party swapping, equipment upgrades, or whatever you valued in Ever Crisis.
- Set spending controls before play. Disable unnecessary purchase permissions and decide whether you are comfortable with recurring or randomised monetization.
- Test account recovery. Link the supported account method and record the publisher’s recovery procedure before investing time in progression.
Choose by the feature you miss most
If the Final Fantasy VII connection matters most
Start with Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion. It offers an official Zack Fair story and the remaster improvements Square Enix identifies, but plan to play it as a paid RPG on a supported platform rather than as a phone-based service.

- Tri-mode Connectivity: Wired for Xbox, 2.4G & Wired for PC, and Bluetooth for Android. The G7 Pro supports seamless connectivity across Xbox, PC, and Android. Effortlessly switch between modes using the convenient physical mode switch.
- TMR Sticks: The G7 Pro features GameSir's Mag-Res TMR sticks, combining Hall Effect durability with traditional potentiometer performance. This advanced technology delivers stable polling rates for smooth, drift-free gaming with low power consumption.
- Hall Effect Analog Triggers: The GameSir precision-tuned Hall Effect analog triggers provide unmatched smoothness and linear input for precise control. Featuring clicky Micro Switch trigger stops, gamers can easily switch based on their preferences.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
If tactical party control matters most
Prioritise games that let you select commands, targets, defensive options, and ability timing manually. Read whether auto-play is optional and whether team composition changes outcomes. A title that merely displays character abilities while resolving every fight automatically will not reproduce Ever Crisis’s decision-making.
If collecting and upgrading matter most
Look for transparent information about recruitment odds, duplicate rewards, equipment limits, and long-term progression. Ask whether a new character expands strategic choices or simply raises the numerical ceiling. Also verify that older units remain usable after updates.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf short mobile sessions matter most
Check battle duration, loading times, download size, stamina rules, and whether the game pauses safely when you switch apps. “Mobile” on a store page does not guarantee that a title is comfortable to play one-handed or in brief sessions.
Best Value
- Officially licensed by Xbox. Bluetooth connection. Supports Xbox Cloud Gaming.
- Officially supported by Apple. Compatible with Apple and Android devices. Stretchable design fits most phones (100–170mm in length).
- Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers - Upgraded. Robust and long-lasting. Offering higher precision and sensitivity.
- Tactile bumpers and D-pad, 2 Pro back paddle buttons, Xbox button, and wear-resistant metal joystick rings for more ways to play.
- Support 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 on mobile.
If ownership and offline access matter most
Prefer products whose publisher explicitly documents offline play or a complete one-time purchase. Do not infer permanence from a premium price alone; confirm the access model in the current product description.
Why a definitive ranked list would be misleading
Ever Crisis’s closure creates a temptation to label any anime-style or party-based phone RPG as its successor. That shortcut hides the differences that matter: one game may share collectible characters but lack a substantial story, another may have chapters but no manual combat, and a third may be unavailable in your country or nearing shutdown.
The official information available for this topic supports Ever Crisis’s systems and closure, plus Reunion as an adjacent Final Fantasy VII RPG. It does not verify a set of currently operating mobile games across story, combat, collection, controls, and service status. A responsible recommendation therefore requires checking each candidate’s present availability and features instead of presenting an unverified ranking.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →What to do with an old Ever Crisis installation
If the app remains on a device, avoid deleting it until you have checked Square Enix’s final support notice and confirmed whether it opens. Do not spend money or provide account credentials to unofficial downloads claiming to restore the service. Because no offline or archival mode is established, an installed client may simply fail its server check.
There is also no documented progression-transfer path in the cited notices. Treat any offer to import characters, weapons, or purchases into another game as unverified unless Square Enix publishes it directly.
Bottom line for mobile RPG fans
Ever Crisis cannot be replaced by downloading the same service: its operation ended on October 6, 2026, and an offline version has not been confirmed. For an official Final Fantasy VII story, Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion is the supported adjacent choice, with Zack Fair, remastered presentation, and updated combat, but it is not established as a mobile or free-to-play substitute. For a phone RPG from another universe, match the features you valued, verify the current service notice and regional listing, and confirm the monetization and connection requirements before committing your time or money.
