What Game Freak actually announced
An October 9, 2026 notice on the game’s Steam hub says the “current post-launch update cycle is coming to a close.” It describes the next release as “the final patch in this ongoing phase of major post-launch updates” and lists October 19 as the current target, with the final date still to be determined.

The wording is important: this is the end of a high-frequency, major-update phase, not a declaration that Beast of Reincarnation has been abandoned. Fictions and Game Freak also say that remaining major concerns could be addressed in the planned patch or in a later update. They ask players to continue sending feedback or filing support tickets even after frequent updates end.

What the October 9 patch changed
Steam patch v1.1.01 arrived with a new story-progression option, a field-of-view setting, event and cutscene fixes, and other technical improvements. Those changes show the type of player-facing work that has been delivered during the current cycle, but the October 9 note does not publish a complete feature list for the planned October 19 patch.

Is Game Freak ending support?
Not according to the announcement’s wording. Game Freak and Fictions are ending frequent updates, but they leave open the possibility of a later update for major concerns. The notice provides no post-cycle calendar, feature roadmap or guarantee of ongoing content, so the most accurate expectation is reduced update frequency with future support determined case by case.
That distinction matters for a single-player action RPG. Ending a launch-period cadence can mean that the developers are moving from rapid, feedback-driven patches to occasional maintenance work. It does not establish that servers will close, that the game will become unplayable, or that all bug fixes are finished; none of those outcomes is stated in the notice.

Why the change matters to players
Players deciding whether to start now should separate launch-condition concerns from long-term content expectations. Early support plans included camera adjustments, larger subtitle text, story-pacing improvements, a Performance-mode default and bug fixes. Some of that work has already appeared in subsequent updates, including the FOV control and story-progression option in v1.1.01.
If you are waiting for a specific fix, report it before the planned patch and check its notes when they are published. The developers specifically invite feedback and support tickets, but they do not promise that an individual request will make the October patch.

You play Emma, a Sealer corrupted by the blight, alongside Koo, a malefact companion. Emma fights with real-time sword attacks, while Koo’s abilities are activated through command inputs. The result combines direct action combat with strategic, command-based RPG decisions. The blight can also transform environments in real time, turning plains and wastelands into forests.
Should you buy or keep playing now?
The update announcement alone is not a reason to avoid the game, but it changes what a buyer should expect. Buy or play now if you want the released single-player campaign and are comfortable with the current feature set. Wait if your decision depends on a promised stream of frequent new content, because no such schedule is announced beyond the current phase.
- Good fit now: players seeking the existing PS5, Xbox Series X/S or PC experience and its hybrid sword-and-command combat.
- Wait for the next note: players with a specific unresolved issue or who want to see the final patch’s contents before starting.
