Pick the Fold8 for a larger unfolded workspace
The Fold8’s 7.6-inch main display gives you more screen area than the Flip8’s 6.9-inch display. That makes the Fold8 the more natural choice if you expect to read, view content or work across a broader canvas. Samsung describes the Fold8’s 4:3 main screen as suited to content viewing; this is the manufacturer’s intended-use framing, not an independent test of productivity or comfort.

The Flip8 weighs 180 g, compared with 201 g for the Fold8, a 21 g difference in Samsung’s listed weights. Its clamshell design closes into a compact form. Samsung Gulf calls it pocket-friendly, though actual pocket fit depends on clothing and personal preference. The weight difference alone cannot predict which device will feel more comfortable to you.

Consider how you use the cover screen
The Fold8 has the larger cover display at 5.5 inches; the Flip8’s FlexWindow is 4.1 inches. Samsung presents the Flip8 cover screen as a place for apps, information and quick actions, while describing the Fold8 cover display as useful for everyday interactions. If you often want to check or act on something without opening the phone, consider which cover-screen size and interaction style better matches your routine.
Compare camera needs by more than megapixels
Samsung lists two 50 MP rear cameras for the Fold8 (wide and ultra-wide) and a 50 MP wide plus 12 MP ultra-wide for the Flip8. Those resolutions do not establish which phone takes better photographs. If camera quality is a deciding factor, compare independent sample images and testing rather than choosing on megapixel counts alone; no comparative camera-quality results are established here.

Check local price and availability before buying
Samsung announced the phones on July 22, 2026, and said sales began August 7 in select markets. Its August 6 launch announcement described availability through carriers, retailers, Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores in 106 markets. Stock and availability vary by market. Check current local pricing, storage configurations, trade-in terms and carrier offers: the launch announcement establishes timing and sales channels, not a stable price.

What the official specifications do—and do not—settle
The clearest distinction is how each phone is shaped around use: the Fold8 opens to a larger main display, while the Flip8 is lighter and folds into a clamshell. Published figures do not settle battery life, durability, long-term reliability or hands-on comfort. Samsung lists 4,800 mAh for the Fold8, but the cited product-specification lines do not state a Flip8 battery capacity, so that figure alone cannot establish which lasts longer. The processor specifications also differ; confirm regional SKU details before comparing market-specific configurations.

Samsung’s August 6 launch announcement reported that preorders for the new Galaxy Z lineup increased by more than 30% compared with the previous generation. That is Samsung’s figure for the lineup as a whole—not a Fold8-versus-Flip8 sales comparison or independent market research. In its July 22 announcement, Samsung described the Flip8 as “the sleekest one yet” and “built for expression and quick interaction on the go”; those are the manufacturer’s words, not independent assessments.
