Possibly—but it is only a theory based on leaked renders, not a confirmed Galaxy S27 Ultra feature or a measured result. A wider horizontal camera island could give the phone a broader, more even point of contact with a desk than separate raised camera rings. Whether it actually stops the phone rocking will depend on the final housing and lens heights.
How could a wider camera island reduce wobble?
On a phone with separate raised camera rings, the rings can act as uneven contact points when the handset rests face-up. A wider, flatter camera island could spread that contact across more of the upper back, potentially making the phone steadier when you tap the screen. That is a geometric explanation for the rumored benefit—not evidence that the S27 Ultra has passed a wobble test.
SamMobile raised this possibility in an October 2, 2026 report, saying the housing “could stably support the entire upper half of the phone and eliminate the wobble effect.” The wording is conditional: no published measurements or hands-on test establish that it will do so. A raised island could still rock if its surface or the surrounding phone does not meet the desk evenly.
What do the Galaxy S27 Ultra camera leaks show?
A larger horizontal housing is the broad trend
SamMobile describes leaked renders as showing an enlarged horizontal camera island, while Gizmochina’s September 28, 2026 case report describes a larger, raised horizontal camera area. In that case evidence, two cameras appear stacked vertically, with a third in an elongated or oval section beside them. These are leak-based descriptions, not Samsung specifications.

The exact camera and sensor positions remain disputed
Android Authority reports conflicting layouts from leakers: OnLeaks’ render places the telephoto camera, microphone, auxiliary sensors and flash in a top-to-bottom pill arrangement, while Ice Universe later claimed the camera is at the bottom and the flash above it. Gizmochina says a case shows openings for the telephoto camera and LED flash, but leaves the laser-autofocus cutout uncertain. Android Authority also cautions that CAD renders can miss details, particularly components that sit flush with the body.
Is the redesigned housing confirmed?
No. SamMobile notes that the design is not final until Samsung announces it, and the apparent island could theoretically be a cosmetic plastic shape rather than a structure that supports the phone. There is also a competing account: an earlier Gizmochina report from July said the widely circulated horizontal renders might be wrong and that Samsung could choose a more conservative design for manufacturing simplicity.

The available reporting points to an early-2027 launch expectation, but that is not an official release date. Until Samsung reveals the phone, the housing’s dimensions, construction and finished camera layout remain uncertain.
Will a Galaxy S27 Ultra case fit the new camera island?
That cannot be established from the leaked cases. Their cutouts offer clues about the rumored layout, but the laser-autofocus opening is unresolved and early case designs may change if the phone’s dimensions or camera positions do. Treat any model-specific Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra case advertised before official dimensions and retail listings as unverified; do not assume it will fit.

What should a hands-on check measure?
Once the retail phone is available, a useful comparison would test it both bare and in a case on the same flat surface. It should check how much of the upper back contacts the desk, whether the phone rocks when tapped, the camera-bump height and protection, and whether case cutouts align accurately. Until those checks are possible, the anti-wobble benefit remains plausible but unproven.
