Neither phone is ready to buy. As of 17 October 2026, Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S27 Pro or Galaxy S27 Ultra. Technology publications have reported model numbers in GSMA database documents and expect an early-2027 launch, but Samsung has published no consumer specifications, prices, regional availability or retail date.
If you need a phone now, choose from Samsung’s officially listed Galaxy S26 family. If you specifically want an S27-generation phone, waiting for Samsung’s announcement is the only way to make a reliable Pro-versus-Ultra decision. Buying a case, screen protector or replacement part for either S27 model now would also be premature because the dimensions and compatibility are not confirmed.

The short answer: wait for official S27 information
The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are leak-stage products, not launched products. A database entry can support the existence of a model name, but it does not establish the phone’s final camera system, display, processor, battery, charging, durability, software support or price.
That makes a conventional “Pro versus Ultra” buying recommendation misleading today. The sensible choice depends on your timing:

Current reporting points to an announcement sometime in early 2027; one report mentions February, but Samsung has not confirmed either an announcement date or a retail release date.
What has actually been reported about the S27 Pro and Ultra
SamMobile and GSMArena reported on 25 June 2026 that GSMA database documents identify model SM-S957B/DS as the Galaxy S27 Pro and SM-S958U as the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Those records are useful evidence that Samsung is working with those names and identifiers. They are not a Samsung launch announcement and do not amount to a final specification sheet.
The strongest reported distinction is that the Pro may be the more compact model and may omit an S Pen. Even that distinction is unconfirmed. There is no dependable public information establishing whether the Ultra will retain an integrated S Pen, whether the Pro will support one in another way, or whether Samsung will change its naming or product structure before launch.

Reported Galaxy S27 Pro possibilities
SamMobile described earlier reports of a possible 6.47-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, a 12-megapixel front camera, a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The same report mentioned a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy, at least 12GB of RAM, at least 256GB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery and charging at 45W or faster.
Every item in that paragraph is an expectation rather than a confirmed specification. The wording “at least” also leaves the final memory and storage tiers unknown. A separate PhoneArena preliminary listing gives the Pro a 6.4-inch display and a triple-camera layout with 3.5x telephoto zoom, while explicitly warning that its information is unofficial and may be incomplete or inaccurate. The 6.4-inch and 6.47-inch reports therefore cannot be treated as a settled screen size.
Reported Galaxy S27 Ultra possibilities
Public reporting provides far fewer reliable details about the Ultra. A separate SamMobile report, attributing information to ETNews, says the Pro and Ultra may use Samsung Display M16 OLED panels with COE and Privacy Display technologies. That report gives rumored screen sizes of 6.47 inches for the Pro and 6.89 inches for the Ultra.

Those panel claims, the 6.89-inch figure and any assumption that the Ultra will have a particular camera, battery, processor, charging system or S Pen are unconfirmed. The reviewed reporting does not establish a trustworthy Ultra-versus-Pro camera comparison, performance gap, battery endurance, durability rating, software-support promise, price or country-by-country chipset split.

Why the leaked screen and camera details conflict
Early phone information often comes from different stages of a product’s development. A database record may preserve a model identifier while a report describes an engineering sample, a planned configuration or an analyst’s interpretation. Retail variants can also differ by country, storage tier or carrier.
That explains why a 6.47-inch report and a 6.4-inch preliminary listing can coexist without either proving the final answer. The same caution applies to the camera layout: a report naming individual sensors is more detailed than a generic “triple camera” listing, but detail does not make an unverified claim official.
Until Samsung publishes a product page or launch presentation, treat precise S27 numbers as provisional. Do not use them to order a case, choose a screen protector, sell your current phone or calculate whether an upgrade is worthwhile.
What Samsung officially sells today: the Galaxy S26 family
Samsung UK identifies the Galaxy S26 family as its current S-series generation. Its guide records an announcement on 25 February 2026 and release on 11 March 2026. Samsung Electronics’ 2026 Q1 interim report supplies the following official current-generation specifications:

The same interim report lists the S26 platform as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5/Exynos 2600, with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. It names both platforms but does not establish a universal country-by-country allocation in the information available here. Check the specification page for your market rather than assuming every region receives the same chip.
Should you buy a Galaxy S26 phone now?
Buy now if your current phone is failing or unsafe
A cracked display, unreliable battery, missing security updates, charging failure or insufficient storage is a practical reason to buy an available phone. The S26 family has official specifications, a known release history and accessories that can be matched to real dimensions. Waiting for a possible early-2027 launch could leave you using an unreliable device for months.
Buy now if you want a large-screen flagship without speculation
The officially documented S26 Ultra offers a 6.9-inch QHD+ display, 214g weight and Samsung’s Privacy Display feature. Those facts let you judge size and handling in a shop or against your current phone. No equivalent S27 Pro or Ultra measurement is confirmed.
Wait if the S27 generation itself is the priority
Waiting is rational when you care about the rumored Pro form factor, a possible 200MP camera, a possible 3.5x telephoto, a new processor or the reported M16 OLED and Privacy Display technologies. The benefit of waiting is not that any rumor is guaranteed; it is that Samsung will eventually disclose which, if any, reached retail hardware.
Do not upgrade solely for an unverified number
A larger megapixel count, a named processor or a faster charging figure does not by itself establish better photographs, longer battery life or a faster phone. Real purchase decisions require confirmed hardware, software support, regional pricing and independent testing after release.
A practical decision framework
- Set your deadline. If you need a replacement before early 2027, compare the available S26 models instead of waiting for an unconfirmed date.
- Identify your non-negotiables. Write down maximum phone weight, minimum storage, preferred display size, stylus requirement, camera zoom need and charging expectations.
- Separate confirmed facts from wants. Put every S27 feature you have seen in a rumor column until Samsung confirms it.
- Check your market. Processor, memory, storage, color, carrier support and release timing may vary by country. The reviewed material does not establish the S27 regional split.
- Compare total launch cost. Include the retail price, storage tier, trade-in value, charger requirements and the cost of replacing accessories. No S27 price has been reported reliably.
- Wait for independent evidence. After launch, look for battery testing, camera samples, thermal behavior, durability information and software-support terms rather than relying on a launch slide alone.

- Processor model in your country, modem features, Wi-Fi and cellular-band support, and whether performance differs from another region.
- Battery capacity, charging wattage, wireless charging behavior and whether the advertised charger is included.
- RAM and storage tiers, expandable-storage policy and the amount of usable space after system software.
- Water and dust resistance, materials, repair terms and the exact software-update commitment.
- Launch date, carrier availability, colors, storage pricing and any preorder conditions.
Accessory and preorder pitfalls
Do not buy an S27 case from a leaked dimension
Even a difference of a few millimeters can misalign buttons, cameras and wireless-charging coils. A case advertised for a model number is not proof that Samsung has finalized that model or that the accessory maker has accurate dimensions.

Model identifiers such as SM-S957B/DS and SM-S958U can appear before a public launch. They do not establish a price, warranty region, storage tier or delivery date.
Do not import a phone without checking network and warranty details
Regional chipset and radio configurations are not established for the S27 generation. An imported handset can have different bands, software features, eSIM behavior, warranty coverage or repair eligibility.
Do not sell your current phone before final availability is clear
Early-2027 timing is an expectation, not a promise. Keep a working device until Samsung confirms orders and shipping in your market, especially if you cannot tolerate a gap between phones.
How the Pro and Ultra may eventually differ
When the final specifications arrive, the purchase decision will probably depend less on the “Pro” or “Ultra” label than on a handful of measurable differences. The first is physical size: reports position the Pro as smaller, but no final dimensions are known. The second is stylus support, because a genuine S Pen workflow can justify a larger, heavier phone while its absence may make the Pro more comfortable for buyers who never write on a screen.

The third is camera flexibility. The Pro reports mention a 200MP main sensor, an autofocus ultrawide and 3.5x telephoto, but there is no confirmed Ultra camera specification to compare against. Wait for focal lengths, sensor details and image samples before deciding that one model is better for portraits, landscapes or night photography.
The fourth is regional performance. A “Pro for Galaxy” processor name would matter only if that processor is shipped in your country and sustained performance, heat and battery life are validated. A chip label alone cannot reveal those outcomes.
Finally, compare price against the features you will actually use. If the Ultra adds a stylus, larger screen or more capable camera system at a substantial premium, that premium is sensible only for buyers who need those capabilities. If the Pro delivers the same core software experience in a smaller body, it could be the better fit—but that remains a future comparison, not a current fact.
What is known about timing
Samsung’s documented S26 announcement and release dates show that the company can announce and ship an S-series generation within a defined schedule, but they do not prove the S27 schedule. There is no evidence-based way to choose the Galaxy S27 Pro over the Galaxy S27 Ultra today because neither phone has been officially announced. The Pro is rumored to be smaller and possibly lack an S Pen, while reports suggest a 6.47-inch-class display, a 200MP main camera, 3.5x telephoto and a 5,000mAh battery; all of those details can change. Ultra specifications are even less established.
Buy an officially available Galaxy S26 model if you need a phone now. Otherwise, wait for Samsung’s S27 announcement and compare the confirmed regional price, display, stylus support, cameras, processor, battery, charging, dimensions, software commitment and availability. That is the point at which “Pro versus Ultra” becomes a real buying decision rather than a comparison of leaks.
