Chinese regulatory listings reported on October 15, 2026 name Ultra-Wideband (UWB) for the rumored Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, yet do not mention it for the Galaxy S27 or Galaxy S27+. If the omission reflects the final hardware, the S27+ would be the first Plus model since the Galaxy S21+ without Samsung’s precise-location radio.
Samsung has not published the Galaxy S27+ specifications. The listings may cover only Chinese variants, and regulatory documents can omit features that appear on retail models. The definitive answer should arrive with Samsung’s regional specification sheets, currently expected around the family’s rumored January or February 2027 launch window.

What the Galaxy S27+ UWB rumor actually says
An iDevice report dated October 15, 2026, citing Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filings and reporting from SammyGuru, identified four rumored Galaxy S27 models:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Rumored model | MIIT model number | UWB mentioned in the reported filing? |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S27 Ultra | SM-S9580 | Yes |
| Galaxy S27 Pro | SM-S9570 | Yes |
| Galaxy S27+ | SM-S9560 | No |
| Galaxy S27 | SM-S9520 | No |
The same report says the filings confirm cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. They do not list UWB for the Plus or base models. That is evidence of a possible hardware split, not proof that every S27+ sold worldwide will lack the radio.

Why UWB matters on a Galaxy phone
Ultra-Wideband measures distance and direction more precisely than Bluetooth. On compatible Galaxy phones, that enables close-range locating for devices and accessories, including Galaxy SmartTags. Instead of merely indicating that a tagged item is somewhere within Bluetooth range, a UWB-equipped phone can support a more exact “point me toward it” finding experience when the accessory and software also support the feature.
SmartTag2 and other precise-finding use
If you keep a SmartTag2 on keys, luggage or a bag, UWB is the part of the phone hardware that makes precision finding possible. A phone without UWB may still connect to a tracker over Bluetooth and participate in ordinary network-based location features, but it would not provide the same short-range directional measurement. Compatibility with the S27+ therefore depends on both the final hardware and the region in which the phone is sold.

Would this be a regression for the Plus line?
Reports have described Samsung as including UWB in every Plus phone since the Galaxy S21+. Removing it from the S27+ would therefore be a notable change in the series rather than a minor specification adjustment. It would also make the Pro and Ultra the only rumored S27 phones identified with UWB in the reported Chinese filings.
There are two important qualifications. First, the October 15 report warns that the MIIT documents may represent Chinese models rather than the complete international lineup. Regional radio configurations can differ because of certification and market requirements. Second, the absence of a feature in a regulatory filing does not necessarily establish that the retail phone lacks it. Samsung has not confirmed the S27+ specification either way.

How the rumored S27+ and S27 Pro differ so far
The available reports suggest a broader separation between the Plus and Pro models, although none of these details is final.
| Feature | Galaxy S27+ | Galaxy S27 Pro | Confidence and source context |
|---|---|---|---|
| UWB | Not mentioned in the reported Chinese MIIT listing | Mentioned in the reported Chinese MIIT listing | Rumor; regional specifications could differ |
| Front camera | Reportedly 12MP | Reportedly 16MP | Android Authority, October 14, 2026; Galaxy Club reportedly supplied no cited source |
| Main camera | A Sony 50MP sensor was reportedly being tested | Not stated | Android Central, July 24, 2026; testing does not mean a final component |
| Battery technology | Silicon-carbon battery technology was reportedly being tested | Not stated | Android Central, July 24, 2026; not finalized |
| Charging capability | Not stated in the available reports | Not stated in the available reports | Official specifications needed |
| Price | Not stated in the available reports | Not stated in the available reports | Official regional pricing needed |
| Regional chipset | Not stated in the available reports | Not stated in the available reports | Official regional specifications needed |
The camera reports reinforce that the S27 family’s feature list is still moving. Android Authority said the S27 and S27+ may retain a 12MP selfie camera, while the Pro and Ultra could move to 16MP. The 12MP front sensor has reportedly been used since the Galaxy S23 generation. Those claims do not confirm anything about UWB, but they indicate that the Plus model may not share every component with the higher tiers.

Should you wait for the S27 Pro instead?
Wait if precise finding is essential
If you rely on directional locating for SmartTags or another UWB accessory, do not assume the S27+ will support it. Wait for Samsung’s official specification sheet, or choose a model whose final documentation explicitly lists UWB. The rumored S27 Pro is currently the lower-tier model with UWB named in the reported filing, but that remains unconfirmed until launch.

If you rarely use precise-finding accessories, the UWB question may have little day-to-day impact. The S27+ could still offer the screen size, battery capacity, cameras and regional connectivity you want, and its final hardware may include UWB outside China. Buying decisions should wait for confirmed camera, battery, charging, chipset and price information rather than treating the MIIT omission as settled.

When will Samsung confirm the answer?
Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S27 family in early 2027, with January or February mentioned in pre-release coverage. At launch, check the specification page for your exact country and model number, not only a global announcement. Look specifically for “Ultra-Wideband” or “UWB” in the connectivity section and verify that the accessory-finding features listed for your region match your tracker needs.
Until those documents appear, the most accurate answer to “Will the Galaxy S27+ have UWB?” is: unknown, with a credible omission rumor but no confirmation that Samsung is removing it worldwide.
