Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSamsung’s Search with Finder on the Galaxy S26 series lets you look for a detail, such as a flight, a reservation or a saved note, without remembering which app holds it. It retrieves information from supported sources. It does not tidy anything: nothing indicates it sorts your app drawer, creates folders, moves files or frees storage. Your phone stays as messy as it was, but you spend less time digging through it.
What Search with Finder does
Samsung describes the feature as a way to find information without browsing through apps yourself. Its example searches include flight details, reservations and saved notes. That suits the common situation where you remember the detail but not where you put it: a note, a message, a voice recording or a confirmation email.

A TechRadar writer, covering the Galaxy S26 Ultra, describes the problem as having “no central system for organizing files, apps, or documents” and being pulled into “wild goose chases” to find things. That is one journalist’s wording, not survey data. Finder’s approach is to put one search in front of the mess instead of asking you to clean it up first.
What it does not do
- It is not shown to reorganize apps, create folders or clean storage.
- It does not search every app, every email or arbitrary content. Samsung lists specific supported apps and data conditions.
- No independent benchmark or published statistic on its speed, accuracy or user satisfaction was found, so any claim that it saves a given amount of time would be unsupported.

Recalled information from other sources
Samsung also describes recalled information that can come from supported app notifications, Messages, Gmail and Samsung Wallet. Each source has conditions:
| Source | Condition stated by Samsung |
|---|---|
| App notifications | Notifications must be switched on for notification-derived data to be available. |
| Gmail | Applies only if you consent to Personal Data Intelligent’s Gmail read permission. |
| Messages and Samsung Wallet | Listed as possible sources; no extra condition was stated beyond the general ones below. |
| Reservation details | Available only from reservation confirmation messages. |
Which phones and regions get it
Samsung associates Search with Finder with the Galaxy S26 family (S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra) in its 25 February 2026 launch announcement. Nothing establishes that it is available on other Galaxy phones, so do not assume an older model has it.

Samsung also says functions vary by country, region and language. Advanced search works only when the language of the data matches the phone’s current system language. If you keep notes in one language and run the phone in another, results may be incomplete.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Why this is easier than manual searching
There are two ways to find a buried detail:
- Manual: guess the likely app, open it, use its own search, then try the next app if that fails.
- Finder: type one query and look across the supported sources at once.
The second only helps when the detail sits in a source Finder covers, notifications are on, languages match and, for email, Gmail permission has been granted. If your information lives in an unsupported app, Finder will not see it, and you are back to manual searching.

Getting the most from it
- Check that your phone is a Galaxy S26-series model and that the feature is offered in your country and language.
- Make sure the phone’s system language matches the language of the notes and messages you want to find.
- Keep notifications on for apps whose alerts you may want to search later.
- Decide whether to grant Gmail read permission to Personal Data Intelligent. Without it, Gmail-derived results will not appear.
- Search by the detail you remember (a destination, a booking, a phrase from a note) rather than by app name.
Samsung’s stated ambition
Samsung Electronics CEO, President and Head of Device eXperience Division TM Roh said at the Galaxy S26 launch: “We believe AI should be something people can depend on every day, designed to work consistently for everyone and without the need for expertise.” That states Samsung’s goal. It is not independent evidence that Finder works equally well in every market or for every person.
