The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the largest and heaviest phone in this comparison, at 214 g and 163.6 × 78.1 mm. The smaller Galaxy S26 weighs 167 g, while Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro weighs 204 g. The Ultra’s extra size buys a 6.9-inch display and a more varied rear-camera zoom system; whether that trade-off feels worthwhile depends on your grip, reach, and everyday use—not the spec sheet alone.
Compare the bodies before deciding which feels lighter
Weight is useful, but it does not tell the whole handling story. A phone’s width affects one-handed reach, while height, thickness, camera-bump shape, balance, and case all affect how it feels in a hand or pocket. Samsung notes that Galaxy S26-series weight can vary by country or region.

Samsung measures the S26 Ultra’s 6.9-inch display diagonally across the full rectangle; rounded corners reduce the viewable area. Apple notes that iPhone 17 Pro size and weight vary by configuration and manufacturing process. Specifications are manufacturer figures, not measurements of phones with cases. For the listed figures and regional qualifications, see Samsung’s Galaxy S26 announcement and Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro specifications.

What the differences mean in daily use
- The S26 Ultra is 47 g heavier than the S26 and 10 g heavier than the iPhone 17 Pro. Its 78.1 mm width is also greater than either 6.3-inch phone’s listed width.
- The S26+ provides a middle point in Samsung’s lineup: 24 g heavier than the S26 and 24 g lighter than the Ultra.
- Dimensions and weight cannot predict comfort for every hand. If reach or fatigue matters, handle the phone in person if possible, ideally with a case similar to the one you intend to use.
Battery: capacity and playback estimates are different evidence
Samsung lists a typical 5,000 mAh battery for the S26 Ultra and a rated minimum of 4,855 mAh. The typical figure is an estimated average measured under third-party laboratory conditions using IEC 61960. Samsung cautions that actual battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns, and other factors. The S26 is listed at 4,300 mAh and the S26+ at 4,900 mAh.

Apple estimates up to 31 hours of video playback and up to 28 hours of streamed video playback for iPhone 17 Pro. These are Apple’s manufacturer estimates, not a directly comparable test against Samsung’s capacity figures. Samsung’s US S26 Ultra product page advertises 31 hours of video playback, but that claim should not be treated as an independently matched cross-brand result. See Samsung’s US product page and Apple’s specifications.
Battery capacity in mAh does not translate directly into hours of use: display brightness, signal strength, radio use, apps, and settings affect runtime. The figures here do not establish a battery-life winner. To make a decision, look for independent tests that use the same workload and conditions for each model rather than comparing a capacity number with a playback estimate.

Camera choice: compare coverage and workflow, not just megapixels
The S26 Ultra’s listed rear-camera hardware includes a 200 MP wide camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical and 10x optical-quality zoom, and a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Samsung describes 2x and 10x as optical-quality zoom enabled by its Adaptive Pixel sensor; its 3x and 5x positions are optical zoom. Those terms are not interchangeable.
Apple describes iPhone 17 Pro as having a 48 MP Pro Fusion camera system and lists video features including 4K Dolby Vision recording and ProRes/ProRes RAW options. Some recording options require external recording or compatible hardware or software. These are feature specifications, not evidence that one phone produces better images or video.

Match the hardware to what you shoot
- Distant subjects: The Ultra offers distinct 3x and 5x optical positions, plus a 10x optical-quality option. Consider whether those focal ranges suit your usual subjects.
- Wide scenes: Compare the ultra-wide coverage and the results you want for landscapes, interiors, or group shots; megapixel totals alone do not tell you how the photos will look.
- Video workflows: If you record in specialized formats, check whether the required external recording setup and compatible software fit your routine before treating the feature as a practical advantage.
Manufacturer specifications do not settle image quality, stabilization, low-light performance, or ease of capturing a moving subject. A reliable camera verdict requires comparable samples or a named independent test under controlled conditions; none is established by these listed specifications.

- Choose the S26 Ultra if a large display and a broader set of listed rear-camera zoom positions matter more to you than lower weight and a narrower body.
- Consider the S26 if reducing weight and dimensions is the priority and you are comfortable with its smaller screen and less elaborate listed rear-camera setup.
- Consider the S26+ if you want a middle-sized Samsung option by listed dimensions and weight.
- Compare the iPhone 17 Pro on your own use case if its compact listed height and width, camera features, or video formats fit your needs. Its 204 g weight is still close to the Ultra’s.
Availability and specifications can vary by market. The figures above are manufacturer specifications and claims from Samsung’s 2026 announcement and Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro page; they are not an independent comparative test.
