The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s standout display upgrade is Privacy Display, a built-in feature that narrows what people beside you can see. The catch is that restricting the viewing angle can also affect how the screen looks—and Samsung warns the feature cannot guarantee that sensitive information stays hidden. An Android Authority reviewer also reported weaker off-angle brightness and sharpness than on a conventional OLED screen. That is a reviewer’s observation, not a controlled measurement or a personal test by this article’s writer.
What Privacy Display does
Samsung describes Privacy Display as a way to control the screen’s viewing angle and limit peripheral vision. It is built into the Galaxy S26 Ultra; the feature is not listed for the S26 or S26+ in Samsung’s S26 lineup information. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra product page is for Jordan, so local specifications and availability may differ.

You can switch Privacy Display on from the Quick Panel or assign it to a double press of the Side button. Samsung also describes settings for applying full-screen privacy to selected apps or when entering a PIN, password, or pattern, and partial privacy for notification pop-ups. This lets you choose when to narrow side viewing rather than applying the effect indiscriminately to every screen.

It can change the viewing experience, particularly away from a straight-on angle. Samsung cautions that image quality may change outside the viewing angle and that visibility depends on conditions such as angle and brightness. Its product-page warning is explicit: “Some information may still be visible to others depending on the viewing environment, such as angle or brightness. Caution is advised when exposing sensitive information.” Treat the feature as a way to reduce casual side viewing, not as a security barrier for passwords or confidential material.

Android Authority reviewer Brady Snyder, who says he used the Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra side by side, reports that the Ultra’s Flex Magic Pixel OLED has worse off-angle brightness and overall sharpness than traditional OLED. In his comparison, the regular S26 was often brighter even with Privacy Display turned off. These are qualitative observations from his use, not lab measurements that establish how every viewer or unit will look.
Samsung lists a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen and a peak brightness figure of 2600 nits in its product FAQ. Peak brightness is not the same thing as perceived brightness or sharpness at an angle, so that specification does not resolve the reviewer’s comparison.

Built-in privacy or a physical protector?
A physical privacy screen protector is another approach to reducing side viewing, but the sources here do not test a particular protector or establish which option gives better image quality or privacy. The practical difference is that Samsung’s built-in feature can be switched and configured in software; a protector is a physical layer rather than an on-demand setting.

Snyder says the quick toggle was useful to him on public transit, flights, and at large sporting events, and that being able to turn it off was more convenient than relying on a physical protector. Those examples describe his experience, not a guarantee that the feature will suit every setting.

What to weigh before choosing the S26 Ultra
The Ultra’s screen is large: Samsung lists it at 6.9 inches, with a body 7.9 mm thick and a weight of 214 g. Its size and the display trade-off both matter if you are deciding whether the Ultra is right for you. The cited Android Authority comparison is with the base S26; it does not provide a lab-grade measurement of either phone’s display.

- Choose the Ultra’s privacy controls for their flexibility if you often use your phone around other people and want an on-demand option for apps, credentials, or notifications.
- Pay attention to off-angle brightness and sharpness if you often share the screen or view it from the side; the reviewer’s reported comparison suggests this may be a compromise to consider.
- Do not rely on Privacy Display alone when entering or viewing information that must remain confidential; Samsung says visibility can depend on viewing conditions.
- Check the phone’s size and weight against your preferences, not just its screen specifications.
