The Fold 8’s extra display space comes with a different form factor, while camera specifications alone do not establish which takes better photos. There is no reliable single price difference without choosing a country, storage tier, seller, and purchase date.
Start with the size and how you use a phone
The Galaxy S24 has one 6.2-inch display. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a 5.5-inch cover screen for use while closed and a 7.6-inch main screen when opened. Samsung measures these diagonals across each display’s full rectangle; rounded corners and camera openings reduce the usable display area. The Fold 8 therefore offers a substantially larger screen for viewing content when unfolded, but it is not simply a larger version of the S24: it changes how you hold and use the device.

Samsung describes the Fold 8’s shorter, wider design as intended for content consumption and more comfortable one-handed use. That is Samsung’s product positioning, not the result of independent comfort testing. The S24’s listed dimensions are 147.0 × 70.6 × 7.6 mm and its weight is 167 g, according to Samsung Spain. A directly comparable Fold 8 weight and full dimensions are not established by the official source cited here, so a precise portability comparison is not possible.

Samsung’s S24 specification page describes a 256 GB variant in Spain. Samsung Saudi Arabia lists Fold 8 storage options of 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. These are regional listings, not a complete statement of global configurations; exact specifications and cellular-band support can vary by region and model.

Camera numbers do not settle photo quality
The S24’s listed rear-camera resolutions are 50 MP, 10 MP, and 12 MP. Samsung describes the Fold 8 as having a 50 MP wide camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera. These figures describe camera hardware, but megapixel counts and lens roles do not prove that one phone produces better photos. No controlled head-to-head camera test is established here, so choose based on actual sample images or independent testing for the types of photos you take.
Battery capacity and playback estimates are different evidence
Samsung lists typical capacities of 4,000 mAh for the S24 and 4,800 mAh for the Fold 8; Samsung also gives the Fold 8 a rated capacity of 4,660 mAh. Capacity is not the same as real-world battery life, and these figures do not establish which phone lasts longer under comparable use.

Samsung says the Fold 8 can provide up to 26 hours of video playback. That is Samsung’s estimate based on an internal lab test using a pre-release device, Bluetooth earphones, LTE, default settings, and a locally stored 720p video file. Actual playback varies with conditions. It is not a directly comparable runtime test against the S24.

A current, like-for-like S24-versus-Fold 8 price difference is not established without a market, storage capacity, seller, and date. Do not treat a launch promotion or a price from one country as a general price gap. For a useful comparison, record both phones’ prices in the same country on the same day and match their storage tiers and purchase terms.

- Choose the market and storage tier. Compare the same capacity where available; regional listings and configurations can differ.
- Match the purchase condition. Compare new with new, and keep unlocked or carrier pricing consistent.
- Separate the base price from incentives. Record trade-in value, store credit, and other limited offers separately rather than treating them as the phone’s regular price.
- Note the date and calculate the difference. Subtract the S24’s price from the Fold 8’s price for that specific market, configuration, and purchase condition.
Samsung announced US general availability for the Fold 8 beginning August 7, 2026. Its launch article also described limited preorder offers, including up to $1,200 in eligible trade-in savings and up to $200 in credit without a trade-in. Those were historical, eligibility-dependent US offers, not an evergreen discount or a current price comparison.

Choose by form factor first, then check local prices. The S24 provides one FHD+ 120 Hz display in a conventional phone measuring 6.2 inches diagonally. The Fold 8 gives you a cover display for closed use and a 7.6-inch main display when open. Camera resolution and battery capacity figures describe hardware, not a proven winner in image quality or endurance. Whether the Fold 8’s larger screen is worth its local price premium depends on the actual prices and how much you value that unfolded display.
