For this comparison, OPPO Reno16 means the India-market Reno16 5G (model CPH2865), not every regional Reno16 variant. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has the higher listed display resolution and two dedicated telephoto cameras; the India Reno16 has three 50MP rear cameras, a larger stated battery and 80W charging. Those are specification differences, not proof of better photos or longer real-world battery life.
At a glance: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs OPPO Reno16
The phones launched in different cycles and occupy different market positions: Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 Ultra in January 2024, while OPPO announced the Reno16 series globally in June 2026 and introduced the India model on July 2, 2026. OPPO says regional availability, pricing and specifications can vary. The detailed Reno16 specifications below are for India model CPH2865.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra has the higher listed resolution: QHD+ on a 6.8-inch panel. OPPO lists FHD+ resolution (2640 × 1216) on the Reno16’s 16.05cm display. Both support refresh rates up to 120Hz, although Samsung describes its rate as adaptive from 1Hz to 120Hz. The specifications establish a resolution and size distinction; they do not by themselves establish how either screen looks in a particular viewing situation.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
How do their cameras differ?
Rear cameras and zoom
Samsung lists four rear cameras, including two optical telephoto cameras: 3x and 5x. OPPO India lists three 50MP rear cameras, with a 3.5x optical telephoto and an ultra-wide camera with a 116-degree field of view. The stated hardware gives Samsung two dedicated telephoto focal lengths, while OPPO specifies 50MP resolution across its three rear cameras. Megapixel counts and lens specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photos.
Front cameras
OPPO lists a 50MP front camera with autofocus and a 100-degree field of view; Samsung lists a 12MP front camera. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not a matched selfie-quality comparison.
Rank #2
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Performance, memory and storage
The S24 Ultra uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, while the India Reno16 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. These are different platform tiers and generations; without comparable benchmark or workload testing, the chip names should not be turned into a specific speed claim.
Samsung lists 12GB RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB, subject to market. OPPO India lists 8GB or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and no storage-card expansion. If you keep many large files locally, compare the exact storage configuration available where you plan to buy; the India Reno16 page does not list a higher-capacity option.
Rank #3
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Battery capacity and charging are not battery-life tests
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery. OPPO India lists 6,700mAh typical capacity and 6,490mAh rated capacity, plus 80W SUPERVOOC charging. Samsung says the S24 Ultra can reach up to 65% in about 30 minutes with a 45W adapter under its specified test setup; the adapter was sold separately in Samsung’s UK launch announcement.
These figures do not establish comparative runtime: no matched battery-life test is available here. Charging performance also depends on the specified adapter and regional configuration. OPPO India’s box listing includes a charger, USB cable, SIM ejector tool, protective case and quick guide; what ships with a phone can differ by market. See OPPO India’s specifications and box contents and OPPO’s global Reno16 announcement.
Rank #4
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
What the durability ratings do—and do not—tell you
Samsung rates the S24 Ultra IP68 and describes its lab rating as freshwater submersion up to 1.5m for up to 30 minutes, while cautioning against beach or pool use. OPPO India lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K for the Reno16. These ratings use different test conditions and should not be read as a promise that either phone is waterproof in everyday use. Check the manufacturer’s full conditions before exposing a device to water.
Price difference: the available figures are not a current head-to-head
There is no defensible current price gap in the available official figures because they cover different markets, dates, currencies and configurations.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the S24 Ultra if the listed QHD+ display, two optical telephoto options, or up to 1TB listed storage are priorities. Confirm the specific storage tier and current price in your market.
- Consider the India Reno16 if its 50MP triple-rear-camera specification, higher stated battery capacity, 80W charging, or included box accessories fit your priorities. These specifications do not guarantee better camera results or longer runtime.
- Compare carefully if price is decisive. The quoted figures above cannot establish a direct price winner; they are not current same-market prices for matched configurations.
For software-support context, Samsung’s January 2024 announcement said the Galaxy S24 series would receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. That is Samsung’s dated announcement, not an independent check of the phone’s present update status. Samsung’s launch announcement.
