Its defining feature is an S Pen stored inside the phone, bringing Note-style writing and drawing to an S-series device. It also has a 6.8-inch display and a four-camera rear system; exact specifications vary by market and configuration.
What is the Galaxy S22 Ultra?
Samsung introduced the Galaxy S22 Ultra as the top-end model in the Galaxy S22 lineup. The phone combines features associated with the Galaxy S series with the built-in S Pen functionality familiar from Samsung’s Note phones. Samsung’s February 2022 announcement described it as bringing those product lines together, rather than presenting it as a separate Note model. Samsung’s launch announcement provides the original framing.

What makes it different?
The S Pen is built in
The S Pen is the most distinctive practical feature: it slides into a compartment in the phone, so it travels with the device rather than needing to be carried separately. It can be used to write or draw on the display. Samsung said the S22 Ultra was the first S-series phone to include an integrated S Pen. Samsung also claimed the pen had 70% lower latency than the preceding Note experience; that figure is Samsung’s launch comparison, not an independent measurement of everyday writing performance.

Samsung’s global launch specifications describe a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 1,750 nits. Samsung Saudi Arabia’s support overview lists its resolution as 3088 × 1440. The brightness figure is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee that the screen will sustain that level in every use condition.

- This device is unlocked and will be compatible with all major Canadian carriers
- Network bands in regions may be different depending on the mobile operator and your location; Available storage is less due to phone software updates and apps usage
Its rear cameras cover several focal lengths
Samsung’s US unlocked specification sheet lists four rear cameras: a 108MP wide camera, two 10MP telephoto cameras, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. It lists a 40MP front camera. These figures describe sensor resolution; megapixels alone do not establish photo quality. The official US specification sheet is available from Samsung Business US.
Which specifications depend on the version?
Some details are tied to a market or configuration, so a specification quoted for one version should not automatically be applied to every S22 Ultra. For example, Samsung’s US unlocked sheet specifies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 5,000mAh battery, and 8GB or 12GB of memory with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage. Network bands, processor details, available configurations, dimensions, and weight may differ by region or model code.

- The S22 Ultra combines the strengths of the S‑series and the legacy of the Note lineage by including a built‑in S Pen with ultra‑low latency. That means you can write, sketch, annotate PDFs, control media, or even take photos with the pen — essentially turning the phone into a productivity and creativity tool beyond ordinary smartphones.

How large is it?
The S22 Ultra is a large, relatively heavy phone. Samsung’s global launch announcement lists dimensions of 77.9 × 163.3 × 8.9 mm and a weight of 229 g, while its US specification sheet gives slightly different dimensions and weight. If size matters for a case, pocket, or one-handed use, verify the figures for the specific regional model rather than relying on one market’s listing.

What should you not infer from the specifications?
The published specifications establish the phone’s features and hardware configuration, but they do not by themselves establish real-world camera quality, battery life, or current performance. Samsung’s materials cited here do not provide independent comparative testing of those results. Current price, availability, software-support status, network compatibility, and accessory fit also depend on the market and should be checked for the specific device and seller.
