1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe Galaxy S26 FE is the stronger long-term choice on paper: it has a larger 6.7-inch 120Hz display, a 4,900mAh battery with 45W wired charging, and Samsung’s stated commitment to up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G remains a 6.5-inch 120Hz phone with a 4,500mAh battery, but its age and the condition of any used unit matter as much as its original specifications.
There is no reliable single price difference between them today. Samsung’s US listing has the S26 FE at $699.99 for 128GB, while $699.99 was the S20 FE 5G’s historical US unlocked 128GB MSRP in December 2020—not its current used-market value. | Software support | Remaining support depends on the exact model and current update status; a current end date is not established here | Samsung states up to seven OS generations and seven years of security updates from global launch |
| Price reference | US unlocked 128GB MSRP was $699.99 in Samsung’s December 2020 list; this is historical, not a current used price | Samsung US listing observed October 7, 2026: $699.99 for 128GB and $799.99 for 256GB |
These are regional reference points, not a universal specification or price sheet. The S20 FE entry refers to Samsung’s US unlocked 5G datasheet, while the S26 FE’s display, battery, and processor figures above are from Samsung India. Check the exact model and local Samsung listing for your market.

For a US buyer comparing new phones, Samsung listed the S26 FE at $699.99 for 128GB and $799.99 for 256GB as observed on October 7, 2026. Offers, stock, and checkout totals can change. Samsung’s December 2020 US price list put the unlocked 128GB S20 FE 5G at $699.99, but that figure is its launch-era MSRP—not a fair measure of what a used or refurbished S20 FE 5G should cost now. Other regional launch figures are different: Samsung India announced INR 79,999 for an 8GB/256GB S26 FE, and TechRadar reported starting launch prices of $699, £699, and AU$1,149, with first sale on September 4, 2026. These figures refer to distinct markets and pricing contexts; currency conversion alone does not make them directly comparable because local taxes, configurations, and market positioning differ. Check the current price in your own country rather than treating one region’s figure as a global price.
To calculate a useful difference, compare the S26 FE’s live price against a specific S20 FE 5G listing with the same storage capacity, country, unlocked or carrier-locked status, and a clearly stated condition. For a secondhand phone, also account for battery health, seller returns, and any remaining warranty or support. No single current S20 FE 5G used-market value is established, so a fixed “S26 FE costs X more” claim would be misleading.

What changes in everyday use?
A larger screen, with the same stated refresh-rate ceiling
The S26 FE’s 6.7-inch display is larger than the S20 FE 5G’s 6.5-inch panel. Samsung specifies up to 120Hz for both cited models, so the headline difference here is screen size, not a higher stated refresh rate on the newer phone. The S26 FE specification identifies its panel as Dynamic AMOLED 2X; the cited S20 FE datasheet confirms its size and refresh rate.
More battery capacity does not guarantee more hours
Samsung lists 4,900mAh for the S26 FE and 4,500mAh for the US unlocked S20 FE 5G. Capacity is not a real-world endurance result: usage, software, network conditions, display settings, and a used S20 FE’s battery condition all affect how long a charge lasts. Samsung says that using a 45W adapter, the S26 FE can reach 69% in around 30 minutes. Treat that as the manufacturer’s charging claim, not a guaranteed result for every charger or situation.

Check the exact processor and model
Samsung India lists the Exynos 2500 in the S26 FE. The S20 FE family was sold with different processors: Samsung UK notes Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 versions. Do not assume a listing’s processor, network bands, or compatibility from the “S20 FE 5G” name alone. Confirm the model number and regional specifications, especially when importing or buying secondhand.
Software support and the ownership horizon
Samsung says the S26 FE will receive up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from its global launch. That is a stated support policy, not a promise that every update arrives everywhere at the same time, nor a guarantee of seven years of performance or physical durability. Rollout timing can vary by market.

- The Galaxy S25 FE features a large, immersive Dynamic AMOLED display with smooth refresh rate and enhanced brightness, delivering vivid colors and sharp clarity whether you're streaming, browsing, or using it outdoors.
The S20 FE 5G is an older device, so the support remaining on a particular unit is central to the upgrade decision. A current support end date for every S20 FE variant is not established here; check Samsung’s update information for the exact model and region rather than inferring support from the family name. Samsung announced the S26 FE on August 27, 2026, and it launched with One UI 9.

Keep your S20 FE 5G if it still meets your needs
If your current S20 FE 5G works well, has acceptable battery health, and continues to receive the updates you need, the S26 FE’s specification improvements alone do not establish that replacement is necessary. Before switching, weigh the value of the larger screen, newer hardware, and longer stated support window against the cost of a new phone.

Buy an S26 FE for a new phone and longer stated support
The S26 FE makes more sense when you want a new device, a larger display, 45W wired charging, or a longer stated software-support horizon. Its value depends on the local price and storage tier: the US listing’s 256GB option costs $100 more than its 128GB option. Compare that difference with your actual storage needs and any live offers.
Choose a used S20 FE 5G only with a careful listing check
A low used price can make an S20 FE 5G an option, but the historical $699.99 MSRP does not indicate what a used unit is worth. Before buying, verify:
- The exact model number, regional version, processor, and network-band compatibility.
- Storage capacity and whether the phone is unlocked or tied to a carrier.
- Battery condition, screen and body condition, and whether essential functions work.
- The seller’s return policy and the device’s current update status.
- That the price is competitive with comparable listings in your market and condition.
Bottom line on the price difference
The S26 FE is a clear specification and stated-support step forward, but its price cannot be compared fairly with the S20 FE 5G’s launch MSRP. Use the S26 FE’s current local price and a condition-checked, storage-matched S20 FE 5G listing to determine the real difference. For a used S20 FE, condition and model compatibility can matter more than the original price.
