The India-market Galaxy M35 5G has the stronger spec sheet for a 120 Hz display, a 6,000 mAh battery and an 8 MP ultrawide camera. The Galaxy A16 5G is larger-screened but lighter, carries an IP54 rating and comes with Samsung’s stated offer of up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security maintenance. There is no reliable single price gap to quote without checking the same storage variant and current offers at the same retailer.

Display: M35 refresh rate, A16 screen size
The A16’s display is slightly larger at 6.7 inches, while the M35’s 120 Hz refresh rate is higher than the A16’s 90 Hz. A higher refresh rate can make supported motion appear smoother, but it does not by itself establish how fast every app or game will run. Samsung’s M35 announcement also claims a 1,000-nit high-brightness mode; that is a manufacturer specification, not a comparative brightness test.
#1 Best Overall
Processor: confirm the A16 variant
Samsung names the M35’s Exynos 1380 in its announcement. Its India A16 specification table gives CPU speeds but does not identify the processor; third-party comparison pages name the India 5G version’s chip as Dimensity 6300. Check the exact model and region before buying, and do not treat the chipset names alone as a benchmark or gaming result.
Cameras: compare lenses, not assumed photo quality
The M35 listing includes an 8 MP ultrawide camera, compared with the A16’s 5 MP secondary camera in Samsung’s listed 50 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP set. Samsung also markets the M35’s main camera as a “No Shake Camera” and highlights Nightography. The A16’s official page says its main camera has no optical image stabilization (OIS). These specifications describe hardware and manufacturer claims; they do not establish which phone takes better photos in real use.

Battery, size and durability trade-offs
The M35’s stated 6,000 mAh capacity is 1,000 mAh above the A16’s 5,000 mAh typical capacity. Capacity figures do not predict a particular screen-on time or prove which phone lasts longer in a given person’s use. Samsung lists 25 W charging for the M35. For the cited A16 variant, Samsung says a 25 W charger is sold separately, so check what is included with the exact retail package.
The listed A16 dimensions make it 30 g lighter and 1.2 mm thinner than the M35. That is a meaningful handling trade-off alongside the M35’s larger battery. Samsung states an IP54 rating for the A16; IP54 is not a claim that the phone is waterproof. Samsung’s support page offers the A16 up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security maintenance, while also noting that support policies may change and are not a commitment or obligation.

Storage: A16 expansion uses the hybrid slot
The M35 launch announcement lists 128 GB and 256 GB options. Samsung’s cited India A16 page is for a 256 GB variant and lists microSD support up to 1.5 TB. Because its slot is hybrid, using a microSD card occupies the second SIM position. Verify card compatibility and capacity support for the precise handset before purchasing.
Galaxy M35 and A16 prices in India
Samsung’s 17 July 2024 announcement set the M35’s India launch prices at ₹19,999 for 6 GB/128 GB, ₹21,499 for 8 GB/128 GB and ₹24,499 for 8 GB/256 GB. These are historical launch prices; launch discounts described at the time are not evidence of current offers.

These are seller-linked listing figures, not stable manufacturer prices, and the compared storage configurations may not match. For a fair check, compare the same RAM and storage at one retailer on the same date, and separate the listed price from card, exchange or coupon discounts.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the M35 if these specs matter most
- You want a 120 Hz display rather than 90 Hz.
- You prefer the larger nominal battery capacity.
- An 8 MP ultrawide camera specification is more appealing than the A16’s listed 5 MP secondary camera.
Choose the A16 if these advantages matter more
- You want the slightly larger display in a slimmer, lighter listed body.
- You value its stated IP54 rating.
- You want Samsung’s explicit support statement of up to six OS generations and six years of security maintenance.
- You may use microSD expansion and accept the hybrid-slot trade-off.
Neither spec sheet settles real-world camera quality, sustained performance or battery runtime. The better value depends on live prices for matching configurations and the features you personally prioritize.
