Samsung’s unannounced Galaxy A58 is reportedly set to repeat the Galaxy A57’s camera resolution layout: a 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultrawide, 5-megapixel macro and 12-megapixel front camera. GalaxyClub reported the claim on 14 October 2026, and SamMobile described the same leak. Samsung has not confirmed the A58, so its sensors, processing, price and release plans remain provisional.
What cameras the Galaxy A58 is expected to have

Samsung’s official Galaxy A57 listing also specifies optical image stabilization for the rear camera and 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. Those features are confirmed for the A57, not yet for the A58. The leak does not report a telephoto camera.
Is Samsung actually upgrading the Galaxy A58 camera?
There is no evidence yet of a resolution upgrade. The reported numbers are identical to the A57’s, which makes this a continuation rather than a headline hardware change. However, matching megapixel counts do not establish that the phones use the same components. SamMobile noted that it is still unclear whether Samsung will fit newer or physically larger sensors in the A58.

Sensor size, lens design, autofocus, stabilization, image-processing software and thermal performance can all change image quality without changing the advertised resolution. Until Samsung publishes a specification sheet or independent testing is available, it is not possible to claim that the A58 will take identical photos—or better ones—than the A57.
The 5 MP macro camera may be the oldest part of the package
GalaxyClub reports that the A58’s 5 MP macro unit traces its lineage to the Galaxy A51, where this type of camera debuted in 2020. That would make the macro resolution a continuation across several A-series generations rather than a new close-up imaging system.

The A57 review from GalaxyClub characterized the macro camera as dated. A 5 MP macro lens can help with very close subjects when lighting and focus distance are favorable, but it does not replace a telephoto lens for distant subjects. Macro images also tend to be less useful when the camera has a fixed focus range or when the main camera can produce a cleaner crop.

Does the Galaxy A58 have a telephoto lens?
No telephoto camera has been reported in the current leak. The expected rear arrangement is therefore a standard wide camera, an ultrawide and a macro unit. Long-range zoom would rely on the main camera’s crop and Samsung’s processing rather than optical magnification.

This remains one of the clearest potential weaknesses compared with phones that include a dedicated telephoto lens. A higher megapixel count alone cannot confirm equivalent detail at distant subjects, because lens reach and sensor quality are equally important.

When could the Galaxy A58 launch?
GalaxyClub expects the A58 to follow the A57 in spring 2027, with March or April mentioned as an estimate. Notebookcheck likewise places the expected launch after the A57’s 2026 release. These are forecasts, not dates committed to by Samsung, and the timing could differ by market.

Should you buy the Galaxy A57 or wait?
The decision depends on whether you need a phone now and what Samsung eventually changes behind the resolution labels. The A57 is the currently documented product, so its camera features can be assessed from Samsung’s published specifications. Waiting for the A58 makes sense if you can postpone a purchase and care about possible improvements in sensor size, autofocus, processing or software support—areas the leak does not resolve.
Do not wait solely for a higher megapixel count: the current report does not indicate one. A meaningful A57-versus-A58 comparison should check the confirmed sensor model and size, optical stabilization, autofocus, low-light results, ultrawide quality, macro usefulness, telephoto availability, video modes, launch price and software-support policy after Samsung announces the device.

What this leak means for the A-series camera strategy
Repeating the same resolution set would suggest Samsung is emphasizing cost control and software tuning over adding another rear camera or increasing headline megapixels. The reported return of the 5 MP macro camera and the continued absence of a telephoto lens point in that direction, but the conclusion remains tentative until the hardware is officially detailed.
For now, the reliable takeaway is narrow: the Galaxy A58 is expected to mirror the Galaxy A57’s camera resolution layout, while nearly every factor that determines real-world image quality remains unconfirmed.
