There is no reliable global price difference: published prices refer to different countries, dates and configurations.
Galaxy A57 vs Reno16: key specifications
The table compares manufacturer-published details for the Japan-market phones where available. Samsung’s camera megapixels are from its India specifications, so regional configurations may differ. These are specifications, not independent test results.

Which phone has the better screen and handling?
The A57’s roughly 6.7-inch display gives more viewing area, which may suit video, reading or a larger on-screen keyboard. The Reno16’s roughly 6.3-inch display is the more compact option if a smaller screen matters to you. Display size alone does not establish brightness, color accuracy or outdoor readability; those are not compared by the cited specifications.
Which has the more useful cameras?
The Reno16’s listed rear-camera setup includes a dedicated 50MP telephoto alongside wide and ultra-wide cameras. That gives it a specified camera for telephoto framing, while the A57’s cited India specification lists a 5MP macro camera instead. Choose based on whether telephoto or close-up photography is more relevant to you—not on megapixel counts alone.

Battery capacity and charging: what the figures mean
OPPO lists a 6,700mAh battery and charging support up to 80W SUPERVOOC or 55W PPS for its Japan-market Reno16. Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery for the A57; its Japan announcement says Super Fast Charging 2.0 can reach up to 60% in about 30 minutes under the stated conditions. These figures do not show how long either phone lasts in everyday use, and the charging claims do not provide directly comparable full-charge times.

Software support and durability
Update commitment
Samsung documents up to six generations of Android OS and One UI updates and up to six years of security updates for the A57, with availability and timing varying by model and region. OPPO’s Japan release identifies ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 but does not specify an equivalent support duration. That means the reviewed sources establish Samsung’s stated commitment, not that OPPO will provide less support.
Water and dust ratings
Both manufacturers publish high water- and dust-protection ratings, but ratings rely on defined test conditions rather than guaranteeing safety in every situation. Samsung specifically describes its IP68 test as fresh water up to 1.5m for up to 30 minutes and cautions against seawater or pool exposure. OPPO’s Japan release lists IP68, IP69 and IP69K-related protection with definitions in footnotes. Follow each model’s regional documentation and do not treat either rating as a promise of protection in all water conditions.

Which should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A57 5G if you prefer the larger screen or place weight on Samsung’s explicit update-duration commitment.
- Choose the OPPO Reno16 5G if you want a smaller display, higher stated battery capacity, higher listed wired-charging wattage or a dedicated telephoto in the cited Japan-market camera setup.
- Let local price decide only after checking current offers for comparable storage and the same market. The available prices do not support a universal winner.
Neither specification sheet establishes real-world battery endurance, camera quality, speed or overall value. Those require comparable testing or a same-market price check rather than inference from headline numbers.
