Short answer: Buy the Galaxy A57 if you want the lighter, thinner design, stronger IP68 protection, newer camera and AI features, faster charging, and the longer calendar runway that comes with a later launch. Choose the Galaxy A56 when it is substantially cheaper and its camera, charging and IP67 rating meet your needs. Samsung’s current firmware record confirms One UI 9 for the SM-A576B A57 variant, but A56 availability remains model-, country- and carrier-dependent.
There is no universal price premium that makes one model the right choice. Check the live price of the exact local storage/SIM configuration, then weigh the hardware differences below.

A57 design is meaningfully easier to carry
The A57’s reduced thickness and weight are the differences you notice every day. A 19-gram reduction is substantial for a large-screen phone: it reduces pull on a pocket, makes one-handed repositioning easier and is less tiring during long reading or video sessions. The narrower dimensions also make cases and grips feel a little less bulky.

- A VIVID VIEWING EXPERIENCE: Dive deeper into your content with the Super AMOLED Plus display² on Galaxy A57 5G that features slimmer bezels for a more immersive viewing experience

- BIG-TIME BATTERY LIFE: The 5,000mAh battery in Galaxy A57 5G lets you do what you want without worrying about running out of power and the 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0³ recharges your phone faster
- AWESOMELY FAST PERFORMANCE: Galaxy A57 5G⁴ keeps you connected with faster speeds so you can enjoy every online experience with ease. Stream videos, share photos, video call or simply surf your favorite sites without interruption
The A56 remains a large device with the same 6.7-inch class screen, so neither phone is compact. If you prefer a small phone, changing from A56 to A57 will not solve that preference; the improvement is portability within the same large-screen format.
IP68 is an upgrade, not a promise of waterproofing
Samsung rates the A57 IP68 and the A56 IP67. The first digit covers dust protection; the second concerns water exposure under standardized laboratory conditions. Salt water, chlorinated pools, high-pressure sprays, damaged seals and liquid entering a port can still cause damage. Treat the rating as additional protection for accidents, not permission to use either model underwater.
Are the Galaxy A57 and A56 screens different?
Both phones use a 6.7-inch FHD+ panel with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and Vision Booster. Scrolling, supported games and compatible video therefore have the same headline smoothness. Samsung calls the A57 panel Super AMOLED+ and the A56 panel Super AMOLED, but the supplied specifications do not include brightness measurements, color accuracy, outdoor test results or a controlled side-by-side assessment.
Choose based on size and usability rather than expecting a dramatic visual jump. At a shop, compare the two displays at the same brightness, inspect viewing angles, and check whether your preferred refresh setting is enabled; adaptive refresh behavior can affect both smoothness and battery use.
Which phone has the better cameras?
Galaxy A57 hardware and Samsung’s processing claims
The A57 combines a 50 MP wide camera, 12 MP ultra-wide camera and 5 MP macro camera. Samsung says its upgraded image-signal processor improves Nightography, image processing and shutter response. Its launch material also lists Object Eraser, Best Face, Auto Trim, Voice Transcription, AI Select, multi-object recognition in Circle to Search, upgraded Bixby and Gemini integrations.

Those are Samsung’s feature and processing claims, not independent laboratory results. Image quality still depends on lighting, movement, firmware, lens cleanliness and the camera app’s choices. AI tools can also vary by language, country, account, model and software version.
Galaxy A56 camera expectations
Samsung lists a 50 MP main and 12 MP ultra-wide camera for the A56 and describes the phone as having a triple-camera system. The cited launch information does not establish a directly comparable macro specification or a controlled comparison with the A57. The A56 can therefore remain a perfectly sensible camera phone when its price is much lower, but do not assume that megapixel counts alone predict better photos.
How to choose for photography
- Pick the A57 when faster capture of moving people, newer night processing or its additional AI editing tools matter to you.
- Pick the A56 when you mainly shoot daylight scenes and social photos and can redirect the savings to storage or accessories.
- For serious low-light, portrait or video decisions, inspect independent samples from your region; Samsung’s specification pages cannot establish real-world superiority.
Battery life and charging: what changes?
Samsung gives both models a 5,000 mAh typical battery figure. The A57 specification table also identifies a 4,905 mAh rated minimum, which is the value used for regulatory capacity labeling. A capacity number does not predict a fixed screen-on time: brightness, signal strength, refresh behavior, camera use, gaming, temperature and background synchronization all change endurance.
Samsung rates the A57’s Super Fast Charging 2.0 at up to 60% in around 30 minutes under its stated conditions. The A56 supports 45 W charging. Actual results depend on the charger, cable, starting percentage, temperature and whether the phone is being used while charging. The cited material does not establish charger inclusion or regional bundle contents, so verify what is in the box before buying an adapter.
If you charge briefly before leaving home, the A57’s higher charging system is the practical advantage. If you charge overnight, both phones’ stated capacities matter more than peak wattage.

Does the Galaxy A57 have One UI 9?
Yes, for the Samsung SM-A576B record cited here. Samsung’s firmware notice lists build A576BXXU6BZIE, Android 17, One UI 9, a release date of October 12, 2026, and a September 5, 2026 security-patch level. Samsung labels the interface “One UI 9”; “One UI 9.0” is a casual way of referring to the same major release.
What Samsung lists in the A57 One UI 9 notice
- A more customizable Quick panel.
- A Warranty and Care menu.
- Rapid phone lock that disables biometric unlocking at the next unlock.
- A location-access indicator.
- Changes to Samsung Health.
Samsung explicitly warns that exact changes can differ by model, country and service provider. A carrier build may arrive later, omit a feature, or use different menus. To check your own phone, open Settings → Software update → Download and install, then compare the model number and build details with Samsung’s support page for your market.
Has the Galaxy A56 received One UI 9?
A universal A56 One UI 9 date is not established by the cited records. Samsung’s SM-A566B notice shows an Android 16 security update dated September 16, 2026 and One UI 8.5 feature notes dated May 19, 2026. Samsung’s broad September 16, 2026 One UI 9 rollout announcement began expansion with the Galaxy S26 series after its debut on the Fold8 family; it did not give an A56 rollout date.
That does not prove that no A56 variant has One UI 9. It means you should not generalize one market’s firmware to every A56. Check the exact model suffix, country and carrier in Settings → About phone, then use Settings → Software update or Samsung’s regional update page. Back up important data and use Wi-Fi before installing a major update.
Which phone will receive updates longer?
Samsung promises up to six generations of Android/One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates for the A57. The A56 launch commitment is also six Android/One UI generations and six years of security updates. “Up to” describes the policy ceiling, not a guarantee that every feature reaches every variant.

Because the A57 launched later, its six-year window can extend farther into the future than the A56’s even though the number of promised years is similar. Samsung has not supplied a single region-independent end date in the cited material, so do not turn the policy into an exact month or day without checking your market’s support page.
Performance, memory and storage choices
The supplied specifications do not include a controlled benchmark, sustained-load test or complete processor comparison. Do not buy either phone on the assumption that the A57 is faster in every game or that the A56 will age identically; thermal behavior, software versions and regional chips can affect results.
Samsung’s global A57 table lists four combinations: 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage, 8 GB with 256 GB, 12 GB with 256 GB, and 12 GB with 512 GB. Availability can vary by country, retailer and carrier. Confirm whether a listing is 5G, the amount of storage, RAM, SIM configuration and warranty region. A lower-priced A57 with less storage may be a worse value than a discounted A56 with more storage for your actual use.

No fixed “worth it” threshold can be supported without current, same-country prices. Retail discounts, storage tiers, trade-in credits, taxes, carrier financing and warranty coverage can change the comparison from week to week.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPay for the A57 when these advantages matter
- You want the lighter and thinner body for daily carrying.
- You prefer the higher IP68 rating for additional protection against dust and accidental water exposure.
- You will use Samsung’s newer camera processing and AI features.
- You value faster top-up charging and a later launch date for the support calendar.
- The A57’s exact storage configuration is close in price to the equivalent A56.
Save money with the A56 when these conditions apply
- The A56 is materially cheaper after comparing the same RAM, storage, network and warranty terms.
- You mainly use messaging, streaming, web browsing and daylight photography.
- Overnight charging makes peak charging speed unimportant.
- IP67 protection is adequate for your normal use and you can live with the heavier body.
- Your local A56 firmware already provides the apps and security level you require.
A practical price-check method
- Write down the exact model number and storage capacity for each phone.
- Compare unlocked prices in the same country, including tax, shipping and warranty.
- Remove temporary coupon and trade-in values, then calculate the normal cash price.
- Value only the features you will use: body weight, charging, camera tools, storage and support timing.
- Recheck Samsung’s update page for your model before ordering, because rollout status can change.
Important buying and setup checks
Confirm the regional SKU
Model suffixes identify different markets and carrier variants. A software notice for SM-A576B or SM-A566B should not be treated as proof for every phone sold under the same retail name. Check the suffix in Settings → About phone and match it to the seller’s listing and Samsung’s support page.

Do not assume case compatibility
The two phones have different dimensions. Buy a case that explicitly states Galaxy A57 5G compatibility rather than assuming an A56 case will fit. Camera cutouts, button placement and port alignment can differ even when screen diagonals match.
Check what the box contains
Charging claims do not establish that a compatible high-wattage adapter is included. Confirm the local package contents, cable specification and return policy before budgeting for charging accessories.
Update safely
- Back up photos, messages and authenticator data.
- Charge the phone sufficiently and connect to reliable Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings → Software update → Download and install.
- Read the listed build number, security-patch date and feature notes before accepting.
- Allow the phone to restart fully; do not interrupt installation or remove power during the update.
Bottom line: which one should you buy?
The Galaxy A57 is the more complete choice when its local price is reasonable: it trims weight and thickness, raises the ingress-protection rating, adds newer camera and AI capabilities, charges faster under Samsung’s conditions, and starts its support timeline later. The Galaxy A56 is the value choice when a genuine discount is large enough and you do not need those improvements. Both retain the same large 120-Hz-class display format and stated battery capacity, so the A57 is an evolution rather than a wholesale change.
Before checkout, compare equivalent SKUs, verify your model’s current firmware, and use the price difference—not a generic online recommendation—to make the final decision.
