Where the A56 has the edge
Higher-resolution secondary rear cameras
The A56’s listed ultra-wide camera is 12 MP versus 8 MP on the M56, and its macro camera is 5 MP versus 2 MP. Those are specification differences, not proof that the A56 takes better photos: megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality.
Confirmed IP67 protection and update commitment
Samsung states that the A56 supports up to six generations of OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates. Samsung also lists IP67 protection for the A56. These are useful advantages if you prioritize an explicit support policy and a stated dust- and water-resistance rating. Samsung’s March 2, 2025 launch announcement also describes the A56’s support commitment: Samsung Global Newsroom announcement.

Where the M56 has the edge
Lower weight and slightly larger listed display
At 180 g, the M56 is 18 g lighter than the A56’s 198 g. Its listed diagonal is also marginally larger: 6.73 inches versus 6.7 inches. Both have FHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, so these figures describe size and weight rather than a proven overall display-quality winner.
Lower price in the dated comparison
The M56’s ₹33,999 listing was ₹3,000 below the A56’s ₹36,999 listing for the compared 8 GB/128 GB variants. Since those figures come from a page updated September 28, 2026, verify today’s seller price rather than assuming the gap still applies.

Samsung lists a typical 5,000 mAh battery for each phone and 45 W charging support. Its product specifications say up to 29 hours of video playback for the A56 and up to 26 hours for the M56. These are manufacturer claims based on test conditions, not guarantees of everyday runtime; usage, settings, network conditions, and other factors affect battery life.

Samsung India says the M56’s 45 W charger is sold separately. Confirm the box contents for the specific regional model and seller before purchase; charging support does not mean an adapter is included.
Performance: the chipset names do not settle the comparison
The A56 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1580, while the M56 is reported with an Exynos 1480. Those chipset names alone are not a like-for-like performance test. The available evidence does not establish a measured performance winner for these exact regional configurations, so choose based on the features and price you can verify rather than assuming a benchmark result.
Quick Recap
Which phone should you buy?
- Choose the Galaxy A56 if IP67 protection, Samsung’s stated OS-upgrade and security-update durations, or the higher-resolution ultra-wide and macro specifications matter most to you.
- Choose the Galaxy M56 if a lower verified purchase price and lower weight matter more, and you are comfortable with the support duration not being established by the cited official information.
- Compare carefully if you are shopping outside India: verify the model number, memory and storage, local 5G bands, charger packaging, and seller price for your region.
