The Galaxy A57 is slimmer and lighter than the Galaxy A56, carries an IP68 rating instead of IP54, and comes with Samsung’s promise of up to six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Their headline display size and battery capacity are the same. In the U.S., Samsung’s listed A57 prices were higher than the A56’s historical MSRP, but that comparison does not establish the phones’ current checkout-price difference.

What changes most between the A56 and A57?
The A57 is easier to carry and has a higher protection rating
Samsung’s listed A57 dimensions make it 0.5 mm thinner and 19 g lighter than the A56. It also has an IP68 rating, compared with IP54 for the A56. Those are concrete differences for buyers who prioritize a lighter phone or a stronger stated water-and-dust protection rating.

The core screen and battery figures are similar
Both phones have a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and a 5,000 mAh battery in Samsung’s published specifications. Samsung Spain lists the A57’s panel as Super AMOLED Plus with a maximum 120 Hz refresh rate. The available A56 figures here do not provide a directly comparable refresh-rate specification.

The A57 camera array is more fully specified
Samsung’s A57 Spain page lists a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12 MP ultrawide and a 5 MP macro camera. The reviewed A56 report mentions rear wide-camera improvements but does not state its complete array, so these sources are not enough to make a full camera-by-camera comparison or claim better image quality.

Do not assume the A57 is faster based on this comparison
Samsung identifies the A56’s Exynos 1580, but the reviewed A57 product material does not identify its chipset or provide a controlled, like-for-like benchmark. There is therefore no supported performance margin to quote. The A57’s thinner body, protection rating and support promise are documented upgrades; a speed advantage is not established by these specifications.
Galaxy A56 vs A57 price difference in the U.S.
Samsung’s U.S. page showed the A57 at $599.99 for 128GB and $679.99 for 256GB on October 7, 2026, with a $75 promotion displayed. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP list gave the A56 prices as $499.99 for 128GB and $549.99 for 256GB, and marked both configurations end-of-life. That implies historical list-price gaps of $100 and $130, respectively—not a verified current A56-versus-A57 checkout-price difference. Samsung U.S. A57 page; Samsung U.S. March 2026 MSRP list.

How to compare what you would actually pay
- Match storage capacity: compare 128GB with 128GB or 256GB with 256GB.
- Use prices from the same date and market. Samsung’s A56 MSRP sheet marks the listed U.S. models end-of-life, so it does not establish current stock or resale prices.
- Check whether both listings are unlocked or carrier-specific, and compare warranty region, taxes and promotions.
- For buyers outside the U.S., use local retailer pricing. Samsung lists regional variants and configurations, so U.S. prices and options should not be assumed to apply elsewhere. Samsung España product page; Samsung U.S. launch announcement.
Which phone makes more sense?
Choose the A57 if its current price fits your budget
The A57’s strongest documented case is its lighter, slimmer body, IP68 rating and stated software-support period. It also has a fully listed 50 MP, 12 MP and 5 MP rear camera setup. Whether those advantages justify paying more depends on the current price of a comparable A56 and the A57 in your market.

Consider the A56 if you find a suitable current listing
The A56 still has the same stated screen size and battery capacity, and Samsung lists 25 W charging. Since Samsung marked the A56 U.S. SKUs in its March 2026 MSRP document end-of-life, check the seller, model, storage, region and warranty carefully rather than relying on an old MSRP as a current offer.
What comes in the A57 box?
Samsung says the U.S. A57 package includes the phone, a data cable and a SIM-ejection pin, but no wall charger. If you do not already have a compatible charger, account for that separately when comparing the cost of moving to the A57. Samsung U.S. package information.
