The Galaxy A56 is the newer phone, with a larger listed display and a longer launch-era software-support commitment. The Galaxy A53 5G has a different rear-camera setup and a lower historical US launch price. Samsung lists both with a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery and IP67 resistance, but those figures do not establish which lasts longer in daily use. The A53 launched in the US at $449.99 in 2022; the A56 launched at $499.99 in 2025—a $50 difference at launch, not a guide to what either costs today.

At US launch, the A56 cost $50 more: Samsung announced a $449.99 starting price for the A53 in 2022 and a $499.99 starting price for the A56 in 2025. These are historical launch prices, not current offers. What changes on the display?
Samsung lists the A56 with a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and 120Hz refresh rate, compared with the A53’s 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, also at 120Hz. The listed A56 screen is larger; Samsung’s US announcement notes that rounded corners reduce the usable viewing area. The specifications alone do not establish differences in brightness, color accuracy, or outdoor visibility.
How do the camera systems differ?
The A53 has four rear cameras in its listed setup: a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP depth camera, and a 5MP macro camera. The A56 has three: a 50MP OIS main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro camera. The A53 also lists a 32MP front camera, while the A56 lists a 12MP front camera.
These hardware specifications describe different configurations, not a camera-quality ranking. Megapixel counts by themselves cannot establish which phone takes better photos or selfies; that requires comparable testing under defined conditions.

Do they have the same battery and charging?
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery for both phones. Capacity is not a real-world battery-life result, so it does not show which model lasts longer between charges.
The cited A53 announcement specifies 25W charging and says the charger is sold separately. The cited A56 launch source does not confirm its charging speed, so a speed comparison cannot be made from these sources.
Which phone has the longer stated software support?
The launch-era commitments favor the A56. Samsung announced up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates for the A56. For the US A53 model, Samsung’s cited specification sheet states three OS upgrades and four years of security updates. Samsung’s global A56 announcement also describes the six-generation, six-year commitment.

What do IP67, size, and weight tell you?
Samsung lists IP67 resistance for both models. That rating is not a promise that either phone is waterproof or immune to damage in every exposure.
The listed A56 is 162.2 × 77.5 × 7.4 mm and weighs 198 g; the A53 is 159.6 × 74.8 × 8.1 mm and weighs 189 g. The A56 is therefore listed as larger and heavier, though thinner. These are values from the cited US sources; regional variants should be checked before relying on small ergonomic differences.
Which Galaxy should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy A56 if
- You want the larger listed 6.7-inch display.
- A longer launch-era software-support commitment is important to you.
- You are comfortable choosing based on its newer listed camera configuration rather than assuming a guaranteed photo-quality improvement.
Consider the Galaxy A53 5G if
- You prefer its listed camera hardware, including a 5MP depth camera and a 32MP front camera, while recognizing that specifications do not prove better results.
- You can find it at a current price that makes sense for you and have checked its model, condition, storage, and update status.
Neither the official specifications nor launch prices settle which phone is faster, takes better photos, or lasts longer in everyday use. Those choices call for comparable tests or an assessment of your specific priorities, alongside current local prices.
