The vivo X300 FE costs substantially more, but pairs a more compact 6.31-inch screen with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, a dedicated telephoto camera, and higher listed battery capacity and charging power. The right pick depends on whether those X300 FE features are worth the price gap to you; specifications alone do not establish which phone performs better in real-world use.

What is the India price difference?
At launch in India, Samsung listed the Galaxy A36 at ₹32,999 for 8GB/128GB, ₹35,999 for 8GB/256GB, and ₹38,999 for 12GB/256GB on its India announcement. vivo announced the X300 FE at ₹79,999 for 12GB/256GB and ₹89,999 for 12GB/512GB in its May 2026 India launch announcement.
Those launch prices are not necessarily today’s prices. When accessed in 2026, vivo’s store showed ₹94,999 for the selected 12GB/256GB X300 FE, rather than its ₹79,999 launch price. Check live listings before buying, and compare the same storage configuration in the same market. Using the launch figures, the closest like-for-like comparison is 12GB/256GB: ₹38,999 for the A36 versus ₹79,999 for the X300 FE, a ₹41,000 difference at launch.

Which phone makes more sense for your priorities?
Choose the Galaxy A36 for a bigger screen and lower India launch price
- Its 6.7-inch display is the larger option for people who prefer more screen area.
- Its India launch prices were substantially lower than the X300 FE’s launch prices.
- Samsung announced IP67 protection and six Android OS generations plus six years of security updates for the Galaxy A series in India. Treat this as the manufacturer’s stated policy, with applicability tied to region and purchase context.
Choose the vivo X300 FE if its compact design and camera hardware matter more
- At 6.31 inches, its listed display is smaller than the A36’s, making it the more compact-screen option.
- It uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while the A36 uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. These are the named platforms; no comparable benchmark here establishes a specific speed advantage.
- Its rear camera setup includes a dedicated 50MP OIS telephoto camera, while the A36 has an 8MP ultrawide and 5MP macro alongside its main camera.
- Its listed battery capacity and maximum charging power are higher. Capacity and charging ratings do not establish actual endurance or charging time under your conditions.
Do the camera and battery specifications mean the X300 FE is better?
Not conclusively. A telephoto camera gives the X300 FE a distinct hardware option for zoom photography, but megapixel counts and component lists cannot establish which phone produces better images. That requires comparable independent testing. The same qualification applies to battery: vivo lists 6,500mAh typical capacity and Samsung lists 5,000mAh typical capacity, but actual battery life depends on usage, settings, network conditions, and other factors.

The X300 FE also supports vivo’s ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2, a separately purchased 200 mm accessory. vivo’s May 2026 announcement listed it at ₹15,999 including taxes at launch; it is not part of the standard phone package, is compatible only with the X300 FE, and was described as available at select retailers. Check local availability and current pricing before treating it as part of the phone’s value.

Bottom line: compare the trade-off, not just the spec sheet
For India buyers, the Galaxy A36 is the more budget-conscious choice with a larger display and Samsung’s stated support policy. The X300 FE is a much higher-priced alternative whose case rests on a more compact screen, its named processor, dedicated telephoto hardware, and larger listed battery and faster maximum charging. Decide whether those features justify the difference for your own use, then confirm current local prices and configurations; the comparison is based on published specifications and launch/listing prices, not hands-on testing.
