The Galaxy A57 is lighter, has a higher-resolution ultrawide camera on paper, and comes with Samsung’s stated support of up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. The cited A36 specifications list 45W charging and IP67 protection. Which is the better buy depends on current prices for the same storage, condition and sales channel: the available US price figures are not a like-for-like snapshot, and the A36 figure is for a discontinued SKU.

What is the price difference?
The cited US prices do not establish today’s price gap. Samsung announced a US starting price of $549.99 for the A57 in 2026. Its US purchase page displayed $524.99 for the 128GB version after a $75 promotion off $599.99 when checked on October 7, 2026; that promotion may change. Samsung’s March 2026 US price sheet lists the unlocked 128GB A36 at $399.99 MSRP and marks that SKU end-of-life. One is a launch price, one a time-sensitive promotional listing, and one an MSRP for an EOL SKU—not matched current offers.

How do the displays compare?
Both cited regional configurations have a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a maximum 120 Hz refresh rate. Samsung labels the A36 panel Super AMOLED and the A57 panel Super AMOLED Plus. Those names and specifications alone do not establish that one looks better in everyday use; no comparative display test is available here.

Which phone has the better camera specifications?
Both list a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP front camera. The A57’s cited rear ultrawide is 12 MP, compared with 8 MP on the A36; both list a 5 MP macro camera. This is a hardware-resolution difference, not proof that the A57 takes better photos. Megapixels do not capture processing, lens performance or results in different lighting, and no comparative camera test is established here.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhich is lighter, and what is confirmed about charging and protection?
Samsung’s cited regional specifications list the A57 at 179 g and the A36 at 195 g, making the A57 16 g lighter in those configurations. Samsung’s 2025 interim report records 45W charging and IP67 protection for the A36. The sources used here do not establish corresponding A57 values, so that gap should not be read as evidence that the A57 lacks either feature.

Which should you buy?
Choose the A57 if
- You value a lighter phone: the cited configuration is 16 g lighter.
- You want the higher-resolution ultrawide specification and Samsung’s stated “up to” support commitment.
- Its current local price makes sense against an A36 with the same storage, condition and seller type.
Consider the A36 if
- You find a verified, suitable listing at a materially lower price.
- Its listed 45W charging and IP67 protection matter to you, after confirming the exact regional SKU.
- You are comfortable checking the device’s condition, seller and remaining availability—especially where the referenced US SKU is marked EOL.
There is not enough matched price or comparative performance evidence here to declare one universally better value. Avoid basing the choice on assumed battery life, benchmarks or camera quality; those comparisons are not established by the cited specifications.
