The Galaxy A37 is the newer phone, with a faster chipset, Samsung-claimed camera-processing improvements, IP68 protection and newer launch software. The Galaxy A36 may still be the better buy if you find it substantially cheaper. Samsung’s U.S. reference figures differ by $50, but they compare the A37’s launch starting price with an end-of-life A36 MSRP listing—not matched, current retail prices.
Galaxy A36 vs A37: the main differences
| Feature | Galaxy A36 5G | Galaxy A37 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Generation | Predecessor to the A37 | Announced March 25, 2026 |
| Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 | Samsung Exynos 1480 |
| Display | 6.7-inch FHD+ in Samsung Indonesia’s comparison | 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED; U.S. materials specify up to 120 Hz |

| Other rear cameras | 8 MP ultrawide, 5 MP macro | 8 MP ultrawide, 5 MP macro |
| Dust and water rating | IP67 | IP68 |
| Software at launch | Android 15 / One UI 7, according to Samsung Indonesia | Android 16 / One UI 8.5, according to Samsung Indonesia |
The core camera specifications are similar on paper: both have 50 MP main, 8 MP ultrawide and 5 MP macro rear cameras. Samsung describes the A37’s updated processing and larger stated main-camera pixel size as improvements, particularly for low-light capture. Those are manufacturer claims, not results from independent testing. Regional specifications and software details may vary.

How much faster is the A37?
Samsung Indonesia says the A37’s Exynos 1480 delivers 14% higher CPU performance, 24% higher GPU performance and 167% higher NPU performance than the A36’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. These are Samsung’s comparative figures, not independent benchmark results; they should not be treated as a guarantee of the same improvement in every app or task. The NPU is the processor component used for certain AI tasks. A large claimed increase there does not by itself establish how much faster a particular feature will feel in everyday use.

What do the U.S. price figures show?
| Phone and price reference | Figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A37 5G | $449.99 | U.S. starting price announced by Samsung; availability began April 9, 2026 |
| Galaxy A36 5G, 128 GB unlocked | $399.99 | U.S. MSRP listing in Samsung’s March 2026 price file, marked “EOL” |
The arithmetic difference is $50, but it is not a current, like-for-like street-price comparison: the A36 figure is an end-of-life MSRP for a specified unlocked 128 GB SKU, while the A37 figure is a starting price that may not identify an equivalent configuration. Samsung says its MSRP can change without notice. Check current checkout prices for the same country, storage and sales channel before deciding. Which phone should you choose?
Choose the A37 if its local premium is reasonable
- You want the newer chipset and are comfortable treating Samsung’s performance percentages as manufacturer claims rather than independent test results.
- You value Samsung’s stated camera-processing changes and larger main-camera pixel size.
- You prefer the higher IP68 rating or the newer software generation at launch.
Choose the A36 if the discount is substantial
- Its performance, camera setup and IP67 rating meet your needs.
- The actual price available to you is meaningfully lower than the A37’s, after accounting for storage, warranty, carrier lock and seller.
Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP file marks the cited 128 GB unlocked A36 listing as EOL, so check that a seller has stock and confirm the warranty terms. The cited prices are U.S.-specific; Samsung’s processor, camera-pixel, software and IP-rating comparison comes from Indonesia, while additional A37 display and support information comes from the U.K. Check Samsung or retailer listings for your market and configuration.

Durability, display and software details to verify
IP68 is a higher ingress-protection rating than IP67, but neither rating makes a phone damage-proof. Follow the manufacturer’s conditions and do not treat the rating as permission for underwater use. For the display, Samsung’s U.S. materials specify a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with up to 120 Hz for the A37. Samsung Indonesia lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ display for the A36, but the available comparison does not verify every A36 display detail, so avoid assuming every characteristic is identical.
