These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. Xiaomi’s product page lists the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G specifications; Samsung’s UK page lists the Galaxy A35 5G specifications.

Where the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has the paper advantage
Display size and resolution
Xiaomi lists a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen, while Samsung lists a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen. Both are specified for refresh rates up to 120Hz. The Redmi therefore has the larger, higher-resolution panel on the published figures; those figures alone do not establish which screen looks better in everyday use.

Battery capacity and charging
The Redmi’s stated 8,340mAh typical battery is substantially larger than the A35’s 5,000mAh typical battery, and its stated 67W charging exceeds Samsung’s 25W support. Xiaomi also lists reverse charging up to 22.5W. Capacity and charging wattage are not a battery-life or charging-time comparison: actual results depend on usage, network, software, test environment and charger. Xiaomi’s “beyond 2-day” battery language refers to its own test scenario, not a guarantee for every user.

Included accessories vary by market. Xiaomi UK says a power adapter is not included and recommends a compatible 67W adapter; Samsung says its 25W wall charger is sold separately. Check the local package contents and adapter compatibility before buying.
Where the Galaxy A35 5G stands out
Expandable storage
Samsung’s UK specification page lists 128GB and 256GB models and microSD expansion up to 1TB. Xiaomi says Redmi RAM and storage configurations vary by region and advises checking with a local seller. Confirm the specific A35 tray variant in your market as well, since SIM and microSD arrangements can differ.

A specific Android upgrade commitment
Samsung announced up to four generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and five years of security updates for the A35. Xiaomi states six years of security updates for the Redmi, and separately advertises a 60-month “like-new software experience.” Xiaomi defines the latter as an internal software-aging test; it is not the same kind of commitment as a stated number of Android version upgrades. Processor and camera: the published figures do not settle the contest
Xiaomi names the Redmi’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, while Samsung’s cited UK page describes an octa-core processor and lists CPU speeds of 2.4GHz and 2GHz. Those labels are not a comparable performance test, so they do not establish which phone is faster. No comparable benchmark data is available here.

Samsung specifies a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 5MP macro and a 13MP front camera. Xiaomi promotes an AI imaging system, but the detailed rear-camera configuration needs to be verified on the specification page for the buyer’s region before making a like-for-like lens comparison. Megapixel counts alone do not prove which phone takes better photos.
Water-resistance ratings need their test conditions
The listed ratings are not a promise that either phone is waterproof, and liquid damage may not be covered by warranty. Samsung describes the A35’s IP67 rating as resistance based on testing in up to 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes; it notes resistance may diminish with wear. Xiaomi UAE lists IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K and describes 2-metre, 72-hour static-freshwater tests, while cautioning against use outside test conditions. The ratings and test descriptions are different, region-specific manufacturer claims, not directly interchangeable assurances of real-world protection. Read the Samsung specifications and Xiaomi regional specifications for their stated limitations.

The Redmi figures come from Xiaomi Saudi Arabia’s dated pricing terms; the A35 launch prices come from Samsung UK and Samsung Gulf. Since the available figures do not match country, date or configuration, subtracting one from another would not tell a buyer which phone costs less today.
