What is the first Galaxy A18 update?
Firmware tracker SamMobile lists A185FXXS1AZI4 as the earliest public SM-A185F build carrying the model’s initial “S1” revision. Calling it the phone’s “first update” is therefore an inference from the first listed firmware record, not a label Samsung has officially used.

Because the Galaxy A18 launched with Android 17 and One UI 9.0, this firmware is not an Android-version upgrade from an earlier release. It is the first publicly listed software build for the model and includes the September security-level maintenance release.

Did the Galaxy A18 launch with Android 17?
Yes. Samsung’s 15 September 2026 launch announcement says the Galaxy A18 4G ships with One UI 9.0 based on Android 17. Samsung’s New Zealand announcement, dated 5 October 2026, also identifies the A18 as a 2026 launch device. That means owners should not expect the first update to change the phone from Android 16 to Android 17; Android 17 is the factory software generation for this model.
Who can install A185FXXS1AZI4?
The published record is specifically for model SM-A185F on Poland’s PLUS network. Samsung releases can vary by model suffix, carrier and country, so an A18 owner elsewhere may receive a different build number or a later patch first. The available evidence does not establish one global over-the-air release date for every A18 variant.

Check your exact model before comparing updates
- Open Settings → About phone and confirm the model number is SM-A185F.
- Note your carrier or network version; carrier-specific packages can differ from an unlocked or regional package.
- Compare the complete firmware string, Android and One UI versions, security-patch date, and release region—not just the month shown in a headline.
Check for the update on the phone
- Connect the Galaxy A18 to a reliable Wi-Fi network and charge it sufficiently.
- Open Settings.
- Select Software update.
- Tap Download and install.
- Review the model, build number and security-patch information shown by Samsung before accepting the installation.
If no update appears, that does not prove the phone is unsupported. Samsung’s October 2026 Mobile Security bulletin says delivery timing varies by region and model. A carrier may also approve a package on a different schedule.
How long will Samsung update the Galaxy A18?
Samsung’s published commitment for the Galaxy A18 is six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Samsung says the six-year security period runs from the device’s first global launch date. A Samsung Ireland product page lists 31 October 2032 as the security-update end date for that regional product page; availability and timing can still vary by market and carrier.

“Six generations” describes the maximum number of major operating-system upgrades covered by the policy, while “six years of security updates” describes the security-support window. Neither promise means every country receives each build on the same day.

A newer-looking article may describe a different SM-A185F package—or a different A18 variant altogether—so matching only “Galaxy A18” is not enough.
