The update makes supported profiles selectable in firmware; it does not mean every XMP kit is certified for Intel 200S Boost.
What G.SKILL’s announcement changes
Intel XMP 3.0 profiles store a tested combination of memory speed, timings and voltage. On a compatible system, selecting a profile in the motherboard BIOS applies those values instead of requiring manual entry. G.SKILL says its coverage includes both conventional DDR5 U-DIMMs (unbuffered DIMMs) and newer CU-DIMMs (clocked unbuffered DIMMs) for Core Ultra 200S Plus processors and Z890 platforms.

Intel 200S Boost is a separate validation program. G.SKILL describes it as requiring an unlocked Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processor, a compliant Z890 motherboard and validated DDR5 memory carrying an Intel XMP 3.0 profile. The feature can automatically apply the memory’s XMP values while also changing specified CPU parameters.
#1 Best Overall
- Requires overclocking/BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depends on system components, including motherboard and CPU.
- G.SKILL Flare X5 Series DDR5 U-DIMM Memory Kit, Model: F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5
- Non-ECC, DDR5 U-DIMM, 288-pin, for Desktop PC & Gaming
- Includes JEDEC default profile, and AMD EXPO & Intel XMP 3.0 memory overclock profile
- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
Therefore, a kit that merely supports XMP 3.0 should not be described as 200S Boost certified. For a specific purchase or build, check the exact memory part number in Intel’s current ARL 200S Boost validation sheet and in the motherboard manufacturer’s QVL (qualified vendor list).
Speeds and demonstrations reported by G.SKILL
| Claim | Qualification |
|---|---|
| Up to DDR5-8000 | Maximum profile level G.SKILL reports for kits certified for 200S Boost in its 2025 announcement and for kits carrying its 200S Boost badge in 2026; it is not a promise that every kit or system will run at this speed. |
| Maximum rated voltage of 1.4 V | Program parameter reported by G.SKILL for those validated or badged kits. |
| DDR5-10000 MemTest validation | G.SKILL demonstration on an ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z890 APEX with an Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus; a manufacturer-reported demonstration, not a typical supported specification or independent benchmark. |
No official independent result establishes a typical gaming or application-performance percentage from this announcement. A higher rated memory profile may help some workloads, but the result depends on the processor’s memory controller, motherboard, firmware, DIMM configuration and software.

How to enable an XMP 3.0 profile
- Install the complete memory kit in the motherboard slots recommended by its manual. Do not combine separately purchased kits unless the manufacturer explicitly supports that configuration.
- Update the Z890 motherboard BIOS if the board maker recommends a release for the processor or memory kit.
- Enter firmware setup during startup, using the board maker’s displayed key.
- Open the vendor’s overclocking or memory-tuning page and select the XMP control. The label varies by manufacturer; Intel directs users to the motherboard maker or system OEM for the exact menu.
- Choose the desired XMP 3.0 profile, save changes and reboot.
- Verify the resulting frequency, timings and voltage in firmware or a trusted system-information utility. If the system fails to boot or is unstable, clear CMOS or use the board’s recovery procedure, then run a lower profile or default settings.
What to verify before buying
- Exact part number: Product-family branding is not enough. Match the complete G.SKILL model number to Intel’s current 200S Boost list if that feature is important.
- Memory type: Confirm whether the kit is U-DIMM or CU-DIMM and that the motherboard supports it.
- Capacity and DIMM count: Check the QVL for the intended capacity per module and number of modules. Two modules may have different limits from four.
- Rated speed, timings and voltage: Compare all three with the processor and board’s listed support; the highest advertised number is not automatically achievable.
- CPU and board pairing: 200S Boost requires an unlocked Core Ultra 200S processor and a compatible Z890 board. XMP support alone does not supply those requirements.
- Firmware and stability: Maximum speed and stability depend on the CPU, motherboard and configuration. Keep the purchase documentation and QVL entry for the exact combination.
Warranty and stability cautions
Intel describes XMP profiles as manufacturer-tested settings, but enabling them is still memory overclocking relative to baseline specifications. Intel warns that altering frequency or voltage outside Intel specifications may affect stability, component life and processor-warranty coverage. A system that boots is not necessarily error-free; test important systems after changing the profile and return to default settings if errors, crashes or data corruption appear.
Who should consider these kits?
They are most relevant to builders using a Core Ultra 200S Plus processor and Z890 board who want a one-click memory profile and are willing to verify model-level compatibility. Buyers seeking guaranteed 200S Boost operation should start with Intel’s validated list and the board QVL, then choose a listed G.SKILL kit. Buyers who only need standard DDR5 operation can treat XMP 3.0 as an optional convenience rather than evidence of a guaranteed speed.
