The Grand Forks Children’s Museum’s free Full STEAM Ahead pop-up continues Wednesday, October 7, through Friday, October 9, at the Grand Forks Curling Club. Public hours are 3:30–7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m.–noon Friday.

The fifth annual event, titled “Full STEAM Ahead: Play It Forward,” runs October 1–9, 2026. The museum’s events calendar lists October 7, 8 and 9 as the remaining dates. The event listing gives these public hours:

Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Weekday daytime hours are reserved for scheduled school and private groups, according to the event listing.

What children can do
The pop-up is designed around hands-on learning, creativity, movement and imaginative play. Listed activities include:
- Building with large Blue Blocks.
- Playing in the Little Forks Market and caring for animal patients in a pretend veterinary clinic.
- Exploring trains and aviation.
- Trying brain games, making art and creating music.
In a September 2026 feature, museum executive director Katie Mayer described the museum’s aim as giving children opportunities for hands-on learning and creative exploration rather than teaching to a specific curriculum or test. She recalled children collaborating and solving problems together with blocks at an earlier pop-up; that is her recollection, not a measured outcome for this year’s event. Why this pop-up may be the last
The event listing says this may be the final Full STEAM Ahead pop-up as the Grand Forks Children’s Museum works toward opening a permanent museum. Giving Hearts Day reported in September 2026 that construction on a planned 34,000-square-foot building began in May 2026, with completion scheduled for April 2027 and a public opening projected for fall 2027. Those are project targets, not guarantees, so “last pop-up” is not certain.
Giving Hearts Day also reported on September 21, 2026, that less than $600,000 remained to raise toward the museum’s $35 million goal. That is a dated campaign update, not a guaranteed current balance.
