There is no universal laptop shortcut for a full-page, scrolling webpage screenshot. The correct key combination depends on your browser and on whether you need the entire webpage (including content below the fold) or only what is currently visible on your display.
In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S and select the full-page capture option. In Firefox, press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS, then choose Save full page. Windows+Shift+S and macOS Shift+Command+3 capture the screen, not the complete scrollable webpage.
First, decide what “full page” means
People use “full-page screenshot” for two different results:
- Full webpage: one image containing the page from top to bottom, including content that requires scrolling.
- Full screen: a picture of everything currently visible on the laptop display, such as browser chrome, other windows and the desktop.
Browser capture tools are designed for the first result. Operating-system shortcuts generally provide the second. A browser may also offer a visible-area or selected-region mode, so selecting the final capture mode is as important as pressing the shortcut.

Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+Shift+S
Edge’s built-in Screenshot feature can capture a complete webpage, including sections that would otherwise require scrolling. Microsoft notes that availability and behavior can vary by device, market and browser version.
- Open the webpage in Edge and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S. Alternatively, right-click the page and open Screenshot from the context menu.
- Choose the full-page capture option rather than a visible-area or selection mode.
- Use the resulting toolbar to copy the image or save it to your preferred location and format.
If the shortcut does nothing
Make sure the Edge page itself has focus: click inside the webpage, not the address bar or another application. Managed work or school installations can disable features, and menus can differ after an update. Open the page’s right-click menu and look for Screenshot; if it is absent, check whether your Edge build or administrator policy supports the feature.
Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+S or Command+Shift+S
Firefox opens its screenshot interface with a platform-specific shortcut. The launch shortcut alone does not save a full webpage; you still select the full-page action.
- Load the page in Firefox.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux. On macOS, press Command+Shift+S.
- Choose Save full page. Other choices include the visible page and a selected region.
- Download the image or copy it to the clipboard from the screenshot controls.
You can also right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot. If important content is loaded only after scrolling, allow it to finish loading before starting the capture; a full-page tool can only include content the page has rendered.

Chrome’s official DevTools guidance documents Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows/Linux and Command+Shift+P on Mac for opening the DevTools Command Menu. That shortcut opens a command search; it is not itself a full-page screenshot key.

- Open the page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools, then open the Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+P (Mac).
- Search the available screenshot commands and select the capture mode your Chrome version provides.
- Verify whether the command is for an area, visible viewport or full page before saving.
Chrome’s documented material establishes area capture and links to additional methods, but it does not establish one universal direct full-page shortcut. Labels and command availability can change between Chrome releases, so do not assume that pressing the menu shortcut automatically creates a scrolling screenshot.
Windows laptop shortcuts: screen capture, not scrolling capture
Windows+Shift+S
Windows+Shift+S opens the Snipping Tool overlay. You can select a rectangle, window or the entire screen, then copy or save the result. It captures pixels currently on the display; it is not a documented universal command for stitching an entire webpage below the fold.
Print Screen
Print Screen copies an image of the screen to the clipboard (Windows settings can change what happens next). It is useful for a visible-screen record, but it cannot include content that is not currently displayed.

- You need the browser interface, desktop or another window included.
- You are documenting a dialog, error message or software state that is visible now.
- You do not need content below the current scroll position.
Mac laptop shortcuts: screen capture versus webpage capture
Shift+Command+3
Shift+Command+3 captures the entire Mac screen. It includes everything visible across the display, not the hidden portion of a webpage.
Shift+Command+4
Shift+Command+4 changes the pointer to a crosshair so you can select a rectangular region. Pressing Space after starting the selection can target a window. This remains a screen-region capture.

Shift+Command+5
Shift+Command+5 opens the Screenshot app on macOS Mojave (10.14) or later. It provides screen, window and region controls, plus recording options. Apple’s guide describes these as display captures, not as a browser’s complete scrolling-page command.

Reliable workflow for a long webpage
- Choose the browser tool first. Use Edge or Firefox when you need one image of the webpage from top to bottom.
- Wait for loading. Let fonts, images and interactive sections finish. Pages that lazy-load content may reveal more only after scrolling.
- Dismiss obstructive overlays. Close dialogs that cover content; otherwise they may appear in the capture.
- Start the shortcut and select full page. The keyboard combination opens the tool; it does not always choose the final mode for you.
- Inspect the result. Check the top, bottom, navigation, tables and images. A very tall page can produce a large file or expose layout problems.
- Save an appropriate format. Use an image for visual sharing. For searchable, paginated documentation, a PDF workflow may be more practical than one extremely tall bitmap.
Common problems and fixes
Only the visible viewport was captured
You selected a visible-area mode or used an operating-system shortcut. Reopen the browser screenshot tool and explicitly choose full page or Save full page.
The page is cut off at the bottom
Some content may not have rendered yet, especially images or components loaded during scrolling. Wait, scroll through the page once, then retry. Also check for a sticky footer or modal that changes the layout.
Images are blank or low quality
Lazy-loaded resources, blocked third-party requests or a transient network failure can leave gaps. Reload, allow the page to settle, and capture again. If the site requires authentication, ensure the session is still active.
The shortcut conflicts with another application
Keyboard utilities, remote-desktop software and enterprise policies can intercept combinations. Click the page, try the browser’s context-menu command, or use the browser menu instead of the key combination.
The result is enormous
Full-page images can be far taller than a normal display. Crop unnecessary regions, reduce image dimensions after capture, or use a PDF when the reader needs pagination and text search.

Dynamic content changes between sections
