There is no confirmed X-T6 to compare with the Fujifilm X-T5. The latest reviewed status report, published by MPB on October 5, 2026, said Fujifilm had made no official statement about an X-T6 and that no release date or specifications were confirmed. If you need a camera now and the X-T5 meets your needs, buy the X-T5; if you can postpone the decision indefinitely, wait for Fujifilm to announce a successor and publish its specifications. Don’t make the choice on leaked features.
What is actually different between the X-T6 and X-T5?
At present, no verified feature differences have been established: the X-T5 is a released camera with manufacturer-published specifications, while the X-T6 remains unconfirmed in the latest source reviewed. MPB’s October 5, 2026 guide reported no official Fujifilm comment and no confirmed release date. It described circulating specifications and timing as rumors, not confirmed product details. That means there is no reliable basis for comparing sensor resolution, autofocus, video performance, screen design, battery life, or price between these two models. Treat any purported X-T6 specifications or launch timing as unverified unless Fujifilm publishes them.

Stills, stabilization, and viewfinder
Fujifilm lists five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) rated for up to 7.0 stops and an electronic viewfinder with 3.69 million dots. These are the manufacturer’s stated ratings and specifications, not independent test results. See Fujifilm’s X-T5 product information.
#1 Best Overall
- 40.2 Megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR BSI Imaging Sensor
- 15 Frames per second in Mechanical Shutter
- Up to 7 stops of Internal Body Image Stabilization (IBIS)
- 160MP pixel shift multi shot
- 1/180,000 Max Shutter Speed in Electronic Shutter
Video modes and card requirements
Fujifilm’s official UK specifications list 6.2K recording at 6240 × 3510 resolution, up to 29.97p, as well as several 4K and DCI 4K recording modes. Card speed requirements depend on the mode: Fujifilm specifies an SD card rated UHS Speed Class 3 or higher for movie recording, and Video Speed Class 60 (V60) or higher for recording at 360 Mbps. A V60 card is therefore relevant to that high-bitrate mode, not a universal requirement for every X-T5 recording. Check the mode-specific notes in Fujifilm’s X-T5 recording-media specifications.
Which camera should you buy?
Choose the X-T5 if you need a camera now
If you have a real shooting need today and the X-T5’s verified features suit it, the X-T5 is the only confirmed option in this comparison. Digital Camera World reported that a Fujifilm US representative said the X-T5 “has not been discontinued.” That supports considering it for purchase, but does not guarantee that a particular retailer has stock. Before buying, check that the X-T5’s published stills and video capabilities fit your intended work, and confirm the price and availability with the seller. The evidence here does not establish a current price or a continuing discount.

If your purchase is optional and you are specifically interested in what a successor might offer, waiting lets you compare the X-T5 with an actual announced product later. There is no confirmed release date, so waiting could mean an indefinite delay. Reconsider when Fujifilm publishes official specifications and availability, rather than using rumor coverage as a buying checklist.

What to compare if Fujifilm announces an X-T6
Once Fujifilm releases official information, compare the models against your own requirements rather than assuming a newer camera is automatically better. Useful points to check include:
- Image sensor and resolution: confirm the sensor and pixel count from Fujifilm, then look for independent image-quality testing.
- Stabilization: distinguish Fujifilm’s stated rating from independent tests of real-world performance.
- Video: compare formats, frame rates, crop behavior, bit depth, recording limits, and media requirements—not just headline resolution.
- Autofocus: separate listed functions from measured subject-tracking performance.
- Handling and durability: compare the viewfinder, rear screen, controls, body dimensions, and weather-sealing claims.
- Power and storage: check battery details, card-slot configuration, and which cards each desired recording mode requires.
- Price and availability: compare like-for-like body or kit offers in your country and at the time you plan to buy.
Until those details are official, the X-T6 side of that comparison remains unknown.
