That date comes from Notebookcheck’s October 6, 2026 report. It says the date was confirmed in a release trailer on October 5, and that the Switch version was first announced in April 2026. Two editions are reported, along with a free demo and pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop.
What Frostpunk asks you to do
The setting is a frozen world with only a few surviving cities. You build New London out of the ice. The job is to run a city and also keep its people alive, and those two goals often conflict.

- Complete Edition: choose this if you already know you like the genre. It bundles all three expansions: The Rifts, The Last Autumn and On The Edge.
Try the demo first
Notebookcheck reports that the eShop page offers a free demo. Frostpunk is slow and punishing, and a demo is a cheap way to find out whether that suits you. Search for Frostpunk on the eShop to check that the demo is live. This article can’t confirm that it still is.

Per Notebookcheck, the release targets the original Switch and should run on Switch 2 through backward compatibility. Nintendo’s listing didn’t confirm this when checked. This article also doesn’t cover how the port performs, such as frame rate, load times or controls, because it hasn’t been tested. No review scores or physical cartridge release have been reported either, so assume a digital eShop purchase for now.
