- Collect requirements. The agent extracts details such as quantity, event type, award tiers, artwork and placement from the buyer’s request.
- Propose a configuration. In the example, it suggests a 40 mm brass-plated medal and a woven ribbon. Those are proposed example specifications, not confirmed factory capabilities or a standard configuration.
- Prepare a visual. It renders a logo mockup so the buyer can consider the proposed design. The author recommends using fixed virtual-studio scenes to keep generated product imagery visually consistent.
- Create a structured handoff. The agent returns data mapped to the factory’s order sheet, including a bill-of-materials-style specification and a landed price range.
- Route the request to a person. A human reviews the proposed configuration and pricing and supplies the quote before any contract is made.
The important design choice is the structured handoff: a fluent chat response alone is not enough if the next step is factory quoting. The post does not provide an independently evaluated accuracy rate, demonstrate that the mockups match manufactured products, or show that the flow improves conversion.
What to validate before automating
Kd jiang advises against building the configurator first. The post recommends handling 20 manual inquiries to discover which criteria buyers actually prioritize, citing ribbon color and delivery date as examples. Twenty is the author’s suggested validation step, not a proven threshold or a measured experiment.

A manual process can also expose where information is missing before a software flow makes those omissions repeatable. For each inquiry, record the details needed to quote and the questions that had to be asked again. Only then can a configurator be designed around actual decision points rather than assumptions about what buyers will specify.

Make the factory specification the backbone
The author emphasizes negotiating a factory specification-sheet template early and mapping the configurator’s structured output to it. The factory and its template are not named, so the post does not establish a particular required schema. Based on the example, a working specification would need to preserve details such as:
- Product type, quantity, event and award tiers.
- Proposed size, material or finish, and ribbon choice, when applicable.
- Artwork, text and which side each element belongs on.
- Delivery-date requirements and any other buyer constraints gathered during validation.
- A price range and the assumptions behind it, clearly marked for human review.
These are practical fields suggested by the example, not a factory-approved checklist from the post. The actual sheet should use the partner’s terminology and capture whichever production choices and constraints that manufacturer needs. Keeping the original buyer request alongside the normalized specification can also help a reviewer catch a missed detail before quoting.
