As of Push Square’s October 7, 2026 update, the UK PlayStation Store had pulled Mafia III while Sony addressed an issue that had allowed players to claim it for free; the UK listing for Call of Duty: WWII had returned to £54.99. The earlier no-PS Plus offers were reported only in some countries, not across every European storefront. Whether people who already claimed either game will keep access remains unresolved.
What changed on the UK PlayStation Store?

Which games were reported free, and where?
The reports named Mafia III and its associated DLC, plus Call of Duty: WWII. Push Square said the listings appeared free to claim without PS Plus in the UK and several other countries, but availability varied by country. It did not establish that every European PlayStation Store had the offers. Push Square’s report on the listings and PlayStation LifeStyle’s October 6 report describe the initial claims; the latter predates the UK correction.

- 1968 NEW BORDEAUX, A REIMAGINED NEW ORLEANS: A vast open world ruled by the mob and detailed with the sights and sounds of the era.
- A LETHAL ANTI-HERO: Be Lincoln Clay, orphan and Vietnam veteran hell bent on revenge for the deaths of his surrogate family.
- REVENGE YOUR WAY: Choose your own play-style; brute force, blazing guns or stalk-and-kill tactics, to tear down the Italian Mafia.
- A NEW FAMILY ON THE ASHES OF THE OLD: Build a new criminal empire your way by deciding which lieutenants you reward, and which you betray
Can you still get either game for free?
The reports do not establish a current free offer you can rely on. The UK Mafia III listing was reported pulled, and the UK Call of Duty: WWII page was reported back at a paid price. For other countries, the exact post-correction status is unverified. Check the PlayStation Store for the country associated with your account and look at the exact game listing before attempting to claim it.
What if you already claimed a copy?
Whether an earlier claim will remain playable is not known. Push Square’s update said it was unclear whether those copies would be honored or revoked; the reports do not establish that Sony has resolved the issue. Do not assume that a claimed license is permanent, but there is also no basis here to say it will definitely be revoked. Push Square’s update records that uncertainty.

Why did the listings appear free?
The cause was not definitively established in the reports. Push Square described Sony as addressing an issue that allowed free claims, but did not confirm whether the listings were a store error or an intended promotion. The initial coverage likewise said the cause was unclear.
