What does Perkins mean by AI and crypto being “friends”?
In a CNBC interview transcript reproduced in Perkins’s LinkedIn post, he called AI and crypto “very, very symbiotic technologies that are going to accelerate each other.” His point is that the technologies could be complementary over time, rather than inevitable rivals.

That is a forecast and opinion, not evidence that one technology has already caused the other to grow. The interview does not quantify the relationship or establish how quickly any mutual acceleration might occur.

Could AI and crypto still compete?
Yes. Perkins also raised the possibility of competition between AI and crypto for investment capital in the near term. That is a different question from whether the technologies may complement each other over a longer horizon: investors can weigh competing opportunities even if the underlying technologies have uses that could intersect.

Who is Chris Perkins at Franklin Templeton?
Franklin Templeton’s company profile identifies Perkins as Head of Franklin Crypto. It says his remit includes scouting tokens, protocols, and fintech startups for institutional clients. That role provides context for his comments, but does not make the AI-and-crypto thesis a company finding or a demonstrated result.
How does this fit with his comments on institutional crypto?
A separate Bloomberg Crypto interview transcript, reproduced by VoiceTube, described Perkins as incoming head of Franklin Crypto and covered institutional demand, tokenization, and crypto markets operating continuously. Those subjects help explain the broader institutional context around his work; they do not show that AI causes tokenization or confirm the symbiosis claim.
