FramePort Brings Quest Games to Steam Frame—But Six Are Listed as Not Running

FramePort is community software that helps install user-supplied Quest games on Valve’s Steam Frame, but compatibility is game-specific. Its current tested-games list marks six Quest titles as “Doesn’t run”: Espire 1: VR Operative (Quest Edition), HITMAN 3 VR: Reloaded, Journey of the Gods, Shadow Point, Sniper Elite VR, and Sports Scramble (Santa Cruz). FramePort’s explanations point to either 32-bit-only builds or graphics-driver failures; the list is a changing project snapshot, not a Valve certification or a guarantee about every game.

Can you play Quest games on Steam Frame?

FramePort’s purpose is to help install Meta Quest, Android, and PC VR apps on Steam Frame. For Quest games, the project describes translating APKs to OpenXR with OVRPort, applying patches for the headset, and running them in Valve’s Android runtime, Lepton. Ordinary Android apps can instead appear as flat windows. PC VR follows separate routes, including experimental Proton execution on the headset or streaming from a Windows PC; Oculus-only PC games may involve Revive. FramePort is not a game store: it says it does not download, share, or unlock games. Users must provide legally obtained game executables. Owning a Quest title does not by itself guarantee that its files will work on Steam Frame.

Which Quest games does FramePort list as not running?

These are the six entries marked “Doesn’t run” in FramePort’s tested-games table. The reasons below are the project’s reported explanations, not independently confirmed diagnoses. FramePort tested games

Quest title FramePort’s listed reason
Espire 1: VR Operative (Quest Edition) Mesa GL driver crash during texture upload.
HITMAN 3 VR: Reloaded Vulkan driver crash, identified as freedreno, even without Valve layers.
Journey of the Gods Listed as 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame does not support AArch32.
Shadow Point Listed as 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame does not support AArch32.
Sniper Elite VR GPU hang reported as “zink: DEVICE LOST,” even with MSAA disabled.
Sports Scramble (Santa Cruz) Listed as 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame does not support AArch32.

Three entries are attributed to 32-bit-only builds and three to graphics-driver crashes or a GPU hang. The list also includes titles marked working or “works with issues,” and says unlisted games may work.

Why might a Quest game fail on Steam Frame?

Processor architecture

FramePort attributes Journey of the Gods, Shadow Point, and Sports Scramble (Santa Cruz) to being 32-bit only. Its list says the Frame does not support AArch32, so a game limited to that architecture cannot run through this path.

Graphics-driver behavior

How to check whether a title works

  1. Look up the exact title and edition in FramePort’s tested-games list. Check its status and any notes rather than assuming that another edition has the same result.
  2. Identify the execution path. A Quest APK installed locally, a PC VR build run on the headset, and PC VR streamed from a computer are different cases. FramePort documents distinct methods for them. FramePort compatibility guide
  3. Read the status as a project report. FramePort says it cannot test every app, and its list may change as the project, patches, games, and headset software change. An absent title is not proof that it fails; a listed result is not a promise about future versions. FramePort tested games FramePort author’s announcement

FramePort’s list is not Valve’s Steam Frame rating

Valve describes Steam Frame as a standalone SteamOS headset that can run applications on-device and stream PC VR content. Valve’s Steam Frame compatibility review applies to games running locally, not games streamed from a PC. Its standalone labels are Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown, based on factors including performance, display legibility, controller use, and compatibility with the software and hardware stack. These Valve labels are separate from FramePort’s community-maintained, title-by-title reports. Valve Steamworks documentation Valve Steam Frame compatibility review
