Why does my iPhone 18 Pro restart when Face ID fails?
Apple’s iOS 27 update notes say iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may unexpectedly restart when Face ID fails to authenticate. Apple lists the problem as addressed in iOS 27.0.1.
If your phone is still restarting, install the latest iOS version available for it and observe whether the behavior changes. Apple’s note addresses a specific Face ID-triggered condition; it does not establish that all unexpected restarts have the same cause. If the problem continues after updating, contact Apple Support rather than assuming that this documented bug explains it.
Can an iPhone 18 Pro Max on AT&T call 911?
MacRumors reported that AT&T alerted some iPhone 18 Pro Max customers that their phones might not complete calls, texts or data sessions, including calls to 911, and advised them to install iOS 27.0.1. The same report described customers who continued to experience trouble after updating. That makes the warning serious, but it does not show that every AT&T customer or every Pro Max is affected—or that the update reliably resolves the carrier issue.

If you use AT&T and have trouble placing calls, contact AT&T through a working phone or another available channel and ask whether your line or device is affected. Do not rely on an iPhone that is failing to connect as your only way to reach emergency services; use another working phone or local emergency-access option if needed.
Why is my iPhone 18 Pro speaker crackling or popping?
MacRumors has described owner reports of intermittent crackling, faint ticking, popping or clicking, sometimes from the earpiece speaker. The cause has not been established, and the reports do not show how common the sound is. Tom’s Guide said its reviewers could not reproduce it on their review devices. The available evidence therefore does not establish a model-wide speaker defect or a confirmed software fix.

If you hear the noise, note when it happens—such as during a call, audio playback or while the phone is idle—and whether it persists after a restart and software update. That information can help Apple Support assess your individual device; it is not evidence by itself of a known widespread fault.
Is the iPhone 18 Pro finish wearing near the camera?
A title-matched article attributed to Jake Peterson and Lifehacker reported owner claims that the finish near the camera was wearing on some phones, apparently concentrated on burgundy and black models. Its page could not be independently checked, and the claim was not corroborated by the other material available here. The affected share, cause and remedy are therefore unknown.

This allegation concerns the phone’s exterior finish. It should not be confused with Apple’s separately documented camera color artifact, which concerns how images may look in specific conditions rather than the phone’s physical coating.

No evidence here establishes that either model is universally defective, or that one is more reliable than the other. Apple’s restart note covers both Pro models; the AT&T warning reported by MacRumors specifically concerned some iPhone 18 Pro Max customers. Speaker and finish concerns remain reports without measured prevalence. None of the cited material provides model-level failure rates, so it cannot support a reliability ranking.

The clearest action is to keep iOS current for Apple’s documented restart issue. Treat carrier trouble as a potential service and emergency-access concern if you are an affected AT&T customer, while recognizing that the reported update did not resolve every case. For speaker noise or finish wear, document what you observe and ask Apple to assess the specific device.
