Pick Forza Horizon 6 for Japan and festival progression
Forza Horizon 6 is the closer fit if the destination is part of the appeal. Forza describes a dense, vertically varied Japanese world spanning Tokyo and other environments, with seasonal driving and four-season field recordings. The campaign starts you as a tourist trying to join the Horizon Festival, then uses wristband progression and opens access to Legend Island later on. That structure makes Horizon 6 the more natural choice if you want a clear campaign framework tied to earning your way into a racing festival. The official materials also describe seasonal driving, events, cars, multiplayer, and custom event options; they do not, by themselves, establish how those modes compare in quality with Motorfest.

Motorfest is the closer match if you would rather tour a Hawaiian setting through distinct car-culture themes. Its Playlists combine races, events, and challenges, giving the game a theme-led structure rather than Horizon 6’s described festival-joining campaign. Ubisoft’s current page identifies Season 10 and lists Year 4 plans, including new islands and additional content. Treat planned additions as announcements, not as content already available: check the product page and Motorfest news updates for the status at the time you buy.
Which game should you buy for your platform?
Platform compatibility can settle the choice before setting or campaign does. Motorfest’s current Ubisoft listing spans multiple console generations and Switch 2. Horizon 6 launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19, 2026; its PS5 version is announced for later in 2026, but the cited product page gives no exact date. Check the publisher pages and your regional store listing before purchasing, particularly if you are waiting for the PS5 version.
