When can you play Forza Horizon 6 on PS5?

Premium early access
Premium early access begins January 21, 2027, up to five days before the regular launch. “Up to” matters because access timing can depend on the platform listing and account eligibility. The early-access period is the same game, not a separate campaign or reduced build.
Content may arrive after launch
The PlayStation listing says expansions, Car Packs and Car Pass cars become available as they are released. Buying Premium therefore gives entitlement to the listed content, but it does not mean every add-on is playable on January 21. Expansion 1 is announced for January 21, 2027. The reviewed official information does not give a release date or detailed contents for Expansion 2.
What Standard includes
Standard contains the complete Forza Horizon 6 base game and nothing beyond the core edition entitlements listed above. It is the lowest-priced listed option for someone who wants to play the main Japan-set racing campaign without committing to announced add-ons.
PlayStation describes the launch lineup as containing more than 550 cars. That figure refers to the game at launch and is separate from the additional cars supplied through the Car Pass and the named car packs.
Who should choose Standard?
- Players who want the base game and do not specifically need the Welcome Pack, Car Pass, VIP benefits or expansions.
- Players who prefer to decide about add-ons later instead of paying for them at purchase.
- Players who do not need Premium’s five-day head start.
What Deluxe adds
Deluxe includes the full game plus the Welcome Pack and Car Pass. It keeps the regular January 26 launch date, so its distinguishing feature is the extra content rather than earlier access.
Welcome Pack contents
The Welcome Pack contains five pre-tuned cars, one Car Voucher redeemable for an Autoshow car, a free Player House and three tickets for Common or Rare clothing items. The voucher is not described as an unrestricted credit balance; it is one vehicle redemption from the Autoshow.
Rank #2
Car Pass contents
The official Forza content list describes the Car Pass as 30 extra cars. Those cars are released through the content schedule rather than necessarily appearing all at once on launch day.
Recommended Free Tools
Who should choose Deluxe?
- Players who want the base game plus a defined stream of 30 Car Pass cars.
- Players who value the Welcome Pack’s starter cars, vehicle voucher, house and clothing tickets.
- Players who do not need VIP Membership, either expansion or the two Premium car packs.
What Premium adds
Premium includes everything in Deluxe, then adds VIP Membership, Expansion 1, Expansion 2, the eight-car Time Attack Car Pack and the four-car Italian Passion Car Pack. It also grants the early-access start on January 21.
VIP Membership contents
VIP Membership includes three exclusive Forza Edition cars, Crown Flair, an emote, a car horn, a free Tokyo City Player House and perk, twice the credit rewards and weekly Super Wheelspins. These are in-game benefits and cosmetic or progression extras; the edition comparison does not establish a separate vehicle-performance advantage for Premium itself.
Expansion 1 and Expansion 2
The official list describes each expansion as a new location with extra cars and gameplay. Expansion 1 is announced for January 21, 2027. The reviewed sources do not state Expansion 2’s date or provide its detailed feature list, so buyers should treat that part of the bundle as an entitlement to be delivered when the publisher releases it, not as a fully dated launch feature.
Premium car packs
The Time Attack Car Pack contains eight extra cars. The Italian Passion Car Pack contains four extra cars. As with the Car Pass, the platform wording says car-pack content is available as released.

Which Forza Horizon 6 PS5 edition should you buy?
Choose Standard for the base game
Standard is the straightforward choice when your priority is the main game at the lowest listed US digital price. It avoids paying for content you may not use and leaves the decision about future add-ons open.
Choose Deluxe for the starter bundle and 30 cars
Deluxe makes sense when the Welcome Pack and Car Pass are the specific extras you want. Its regular launch date means you are buying additional content, not an earlier start.
Choose Premium for the complete announced bundle and early access
Premium is the tier that combines the Deluxe contents with VIP Membership, both announced expansions, both named car packs and early access. Select it when those particular benefits justify the higher listed price for you. The available information does not support claiming that Premium improves frame rate, resolution or other core PS5 performance characteristics.

Avoid an unsupported “best value” assumption
No standalone prices for the individual add-ons are established in the reviewed listings, so a precise savings calculation is not possible. Compare the editions by the content you actually expect to use and by whether five days of early access matters to your launch plans.

Preordering any edition from the PlayStation Store before January 26, 2027 is stated to include a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 in-game. The car is added after you start the game and complete the prologue. PlayStation states a limit of one Ferrari J50 per person or account.
Preorder eligibility, the cutoff and bonus terms can change. Check the current store listing immediately before purchase, especially if you preorder close to launch or buy from a different region.

Digital, disc and account requirements
PS5 disc release
Playground Games says Forza Horizon 6 will also be available on PS5 disc at supporting retailers. The announcement does not identify which retailers will stock it, how much physical copies will cost or whether every edition will be offered on disc. Retailer inventory and pricing therefore need to be checked separately.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsInternet and account requirements
PlayStation states that a Microsoft account and a persistent internet connection are required. PlayStation account requirements apply to online features. Online console multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus, sold separately, according to the linked store listing.
Cross-platform features
Playground Games states that the PS5 version supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, as well as cross-platform user-created content. These features do not remove the Microsoft-account or internet requirements.
What is known about the PS5 version
The game is presented as a Japan-set racing campaign, and PlayStation lists more than 550 cars at launch. That launch count should not be added to the 30 Car Pass cars or the cars in the named packs as though all content were available on day one; the add-on schedules govern when those items arrive.
The official information currently confirms the edition structure, listed US digital prices, launch timing, the PS5 disc plan and platform features. It does not establish physical prices, regional pricing, Expansion 2 timing or a complete feature breakdown for that expansion.
Before you purchase: a practical checklist
- Confirm that the store region is the one in which you will play; the prices above are from the US PlayStation Store.
- Decide whether you need only the full game, the Welcome Pack and Car Pass, or the full Premium bundle.
- If early access matters, verify that the listing still shows the January 21 Premium start.
- Read the current preorder terms if you want the Ferrari J50, including the prologue requirement and one-per-account limit.
- If you want a disc, verify that a supporting retailer has the correct PS5 edition and physical format in stock.
- Remember that Car Pass cars, car packs and expansions may be delivered on their release schedules rather than all at launch.
- Make sure you can use a Microsoft account and persistent internet connection, and budget separately for PlayStation Plus if you intend to use online console multiplayer.
Bottom line on the three editions
Standard is the base-game purchase. Deluxe is the base game plus the Welcome Pack and 30-car Car Pass. Premium is the broadest package: it adds VIP Membership, two expansions, the eight-car Time Attack Car Pack, the four-car Italian Passion Car Pack and up to five days of early access. Choose based on those confirmed differences, while treating regional prices, physical stock, preorder terms and Expansion 2 details as items to recheck on the current PlayStation and publisher listings.
