Forza Horizon 6’s revealed map runs from Tokyo City to the snowy Japanese Alps. Playground Games has confirmed an especially dense, vertical world with urban districts, rural landscapes, mountain passes and seasonal scenery. The named roads and locations below are reliable orientation points, but they are not a complete road, landmark or collectible index.
The World Map becomes available after the opening Tokyo City race and multiplayer unlock. Once it opens, use the named events, terrain types and story locations as anchors rather than assuming every visible road or point of interest has been catalogued publicly.

Forza Horizon 6 map: the confirmed overview
Playground Games describes Forza Horizon 6 as stretching “From the iconic downtown streets of Tokyo City all the way to the snowy Japanese Alps.” The publisher calls it the series’ most dense and vertical map yet, a description that points to short urban routes, elevation changes, mountain roads and sharply contrasting environments in one driving space.

The setting combines modern and traditional surroundings. Tokyo City includes suburbs, downtown streets, docks and industrial zones, while the wider map reaches rural scenery and alpine terrain. Seasonal changes are also part of the presentation, so the same route may look and drive differently as conditions change. The official reveal does not publish a text-based road-by-road inventory or exact coordinates for every landmark.

What “largest Horizon map yet” means
The publisher’s overview says Tokyo City is five times larger than Forza Horizon 5’s Guanajuato. That is a Playground Games comparison for Tokyo City, not an independently measured area for the entire Japan map. It should not be converted into square miles, total road length or a claim that every region is five times larger than an earlier game.
Three useful orientation zones
- Tokyo City: dense streets, districts, docks and industrial areas where route choices can be urban and highly vertical.
- Rural Japan: open landscapes that provide a different rhythm from the city and connect urban areas with mountain country.
- Japanese Alps: elevated roads and snowy scenery, including the named passes Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma.
These are practical ways to read the map, not official region names for a complete in-game index. The reveal establishes the contrasts; it does not provide a definitive boundary list for every district or biome.
Named roads and mountain passes
The map reveal identifies several real-world inspirations that are useful when you are trying to understand the character of a route.
Recommended Free Tools
C1 loop
The C1 loop is named as one of the road inspirations for the Tokyo portion of the map. In a map-reading sense, treat it as an urban reference: a route associated with the city’s dense, modern driving environment rather than a promise that the game reproduces every junction or lane of the real road.
Gingko Avenue
Gingko Avenue is another named road inspiration. Its inclusion reinforces the map’s mixture of recognizable Japanese urban imagery and Horizon-style driving routes. The official material does not state its exact in-game position, length or junction connections, so use the name as a landmarking clue rather than a coordinate.
Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma
Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma are the named mountain passes in the reveal. They are the clearest official anchors for the elevated side of the map. When planning a scenic or high-altitude drive, these names are more dependable than an unverified community pin, but the source does not provide a full pass-by-pass list or exact approach roads.

Choosing roads by driving character
- Choose the Tokyo references when you want a built-up route with districts, streets and possible shortcuts.
- Choose the named passes when you want elevation, bends and mountain scenery.
- Use the rural connections when you want a transition between dense city routes and alpine roads.
- Expect seasonal presentation to affect how familiar scenery appears; the official descriptions establish seasonality but do not specify a complete weather schedule for each road.
This is a comparison framework based on the publisher’s descriptions, not a tested ranking of the fastest, most technical or most rewarding roads.

Named landmarks and story locations
The official starting guide names several places during the opening drive and prologue. They are confirmed locations in the walkthrough, not a complete points-of-interest list.
Tokyo Tower
Tokyo Tower appears during the early Tokyo City drive. It is a useful visual reference when you are learning the city section and trying to connect the opening route with the broader urban setting. The guide does not publish a coordinate, a map-grid reference or a claim that Tokyo Tower is the only major city landmark.
Nangan
The prologue reaches the Nangan region. Because this name appears in the opening progression, it can help you understand where the early story drive is taking you before the full World Map is available.
Irokawa Space Center
The prologue includes a view of a rocket launch from Irokawa Space Center. The guide establishes the location as part of the opening presentation; it does not state whether the center has a separate collectible counter, a dedicated race route or a unique fast-travel rule.
Shimanoyama and Ohtani
The closing drive of the starting sequence offers views from Shimanoyama to Ohtani. These names are best treated as story-tour landmarks. They help identify the places shown in the walkthrough, but the available guide does not turn them into an exhaustive index of every nearby road or activity.

When the World Map unlocks
You do not start with the full World Map. The official starting guide places the unlock after the opening Tokyo City race and multiplayer unlock.
- Complete the opening Tokyo City race.
- Continue through the early progression until multiplayer unlocks.
- Open the World Map once the game makes it available.
- Use the six listed events as your first activity choices; the guide says they can be completed in any order.
If the map is not available, verify that both conditions have been met rather than assuming a landmark or road is missing. The opening sequence is also where the guide introduces Tokyo Tower, Nangan, Irokawa Space Center, Shimanoyama and Ohtani.
The six events listed at World Map access
| Event | Type | What it gives you for orientation |
|---|---|---|
| River Split – Speed Trap | Speed Trap | A named early activity tied to the opening event set. |
| Airfield Trail – Trail Race | Trail Race | An airfield-based name that distinguishes this event from city and mountain activities. |
| Shirakawa Circuit – Circuit Race | Circuit Race | A circuit reference for identifying a closed-loop race location. |
| Highway View – Speed Zone | Speed Zone | A highway-oriented activity name for a faster road section. |
| Wind Farm Cross Country – Cross Country Race | Cross Country Race | A rural landmark and off-road event reference. |
| Hokubu Time Attack | Time Attack | A named timed activity in the initial World Map set. |
The guide identifies these six events and says they are available at that point in progression. It does not state that they are the only events on the eventual map or that their names constitute a regional road inventory.
How to use the map by terrain
Urban Tokyo routes
Start with the city when you want the most concentrated set of visual references. Tokyo City is described as including suburbs, downtown streets, docks and industrial zones, so a route can change character without leaving the broader urban area. The C1 loop, Gingko Avenue and Tokyo Tower are the strongest named references supplied by the official material.
Because the city is described as dense and vertical, do not judge distance only by the apparent straight-line gap between two pins. An urban route may involve elevation, district transitions or multiple street choices. The official sources do not provide a complete shortcut list, so treat any additional route advice as separately verified rather than publisher-confirmed.
Rural connections
Rural landscapes form the middle ground between Tokyo’s built-up streets and the alpine roads. The Wind Farm Cross Country event is one confirmed rural activity name. It can serve as an early orientation point when you are looking for an activity that is not presented as a city street race or a mountain pass.

Mountain and alpine roads
Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma are the named pass references. The map reveal also emphasizes the snowy Japanese Alps, making them the clearest visual destination for high-altitude driving. Snowy scenery is confirmed as part of the setting, but the source does not specify which exact roads are permanently snowy, how conditions rotate, or whether every alpine route is covered in every season.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsModern and traditional contrasts
Playground Games presents the map as a combination of modern and traditional environments. That contrast is useful for visual navigation: urban districts and industrial areas suggest one kind of route identity, while rural and mountain settings supply another. It is not a substitute for the game’s own labels, because no official text list assigns every road to a modern or traditional category.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Collection Journal versus Discover Japan stamps
Discovery tracking uses more than one system, and the counters should not be merged without in-game evidence.
Collection Journal
The official overview says found cars, houses, landmarks, mascots and more are recorded in the Collection Journal. If you are checking whether a discovery has registered, this is the publisher-confirmed place to look for those categories.
Discover Japan progression
A separate progression article states that Discover Japan has seven stamps. The article describes this as a progression system, not as a total number of landmarks or points of interest. Seven stamps therefore should not be reported as seven landmarks, seven regions or seven completed map categories.
Why the distinction matters
A player can have an entry in the Collection Journal while still having incomplete Discover Japan progression, or meet a stamp requirement without filling every Journal category. The available official descriptions do not establish that the two systems share counters, pins or completion rules.

What is and is not known about “missing” roads
Players commonly ask why a regional overview still appears to have “1 road” or why a landmark count does not look complete. A community discussion search result uses that kind of completion-focused wording, including the misspelling “point of intrests.” It is useful evidence of how players describe the problem, but it is not proof of a user-interface defect, a universal bug or a final road count.
What the official material does not establish
- A complete region-by-region road inventory.
- Exact coordinates for every landmark, house, mascot or activity.
- A definitive total number of points of interest.
- A rule explaining whether every regional overview counter includes every road branch.
- Current community-map completeness or a version-specific 100% checklist.
A practical checking sequence
- Confirm that the World Map has unlocked after the opening Tokyo City race and multiplayer unlock.
- Check the Collection Journal for the discovery category you are pursuing.
- Check Discover Japan separately if the objective refers to stamps or progression.
- Read the map label literally: a road, landmark, event and stamp are not automatically the same type of item.
- Record the game version and date if you consult a community map, because its coverage can change.
If a counter still looks incomplete, the evidence available here cannot identify a particular missing pin or confirm a software fault. An exhaustive 100% route requires checking the live in-game map or an actively maintained external map whose date, version and provenance are clear.
A reliable route-planning workflow
1. Establish your starting reference
Use Tokyo Tower or one of the six initial events to identify where you are in the opening map. Event names such as Shirakawa Circuit, Highway View and Wind Farm Cross Country tell you more about the activity’s setting than an unlabelled map position.

For dense streets, begin in Tokyo City. For open scenery, use the rural landscape and the Wind Farm Cross Country reference. For elevation and alpine views, work toward Mt. Haruna, Bandai Azuma and the snowy Japanese Alps.
3. Separate sightseeing from completion
A story view from Irokawa Space Center or a route past Shimanoyama and Ohtani is valuable for orientation, but it is not automatically a completed collectible. Use the Collection Journal and Discover Japan systems for their stated purposes.
4. Verify before calling a route complete
Do not label a district “100% complete” merely because its visible events are finished. The official textual sources do not provide the underlying road and point-of-interest totals needed for that claim.
Release and platform context
Forza Horizon 6 is listed for Xbox Series X|S and Windows, with a May 19, 2026 release date in the Xbox product listing. Playground Games’ overview names the Microsoft Store and Steam as PC storefronts. Store availability can vary by region and date, so check the live listing for current purchase information.
Bottom line for map explorers
Use Tokyo City, the C1 loop, Gingko Avenue, Tokyo Tower, Mt. Haruna, Bandai Azuma and the named story locations as confirmed orientation anchors. Unlock the World Map after the opening Tokyo City race and multiplayer access, then keep Collection Journal discoveries separate from the seven Discover Japan stamps. For a true 100% road or landmark checklist, rely on the live game map or a dated, actively maintained map resource rather than treating the revealed landmarks as an exhaustive inventory.
