Short answer: Forza Horizon 6 does not import your fame, campaign standing or a documented collectible inventory from an earlier Horizon game. You begin its Japan campaign as a tourist and build a new Collection Journal. Your FH6 campaign can follow you between supported devices through cross-save, and one documented update rule credited excess post-level-100 XP toward new ranks. Those are separate from carrying progress between game releases.
The four kinds of “carryover” players often confuse
Progress can persist in several different ways, so the answer depends on what you are moving and where it is going. Playground Games’ campaign information distinguishes a new adventure in Japan from continuity between devices, while update notes describe a separate form of crediting saved XP.

| Situation | What the official information establishes |
|---|---|
| Earlier Horizon game to FH6 | Prior Horizon fame is not carried into the FH6 campaign. No complete imported-collectible inventory is documented. |
| FH6 on another supported device | Campaign progress follows the player through cross-save. This is device and platform continuity, not a new-game transfer. |
| FH6 update adding ranks | Excess Horizon Play XP earned after level 100 was credited toward 200 additional levels in the Horizon Meets update. |
| Activities inside FH6 | Journal stamps, discoveries, photographs, challenges and activity rewards build the FH6 collection and campaign. |
Does progress from an earlier Forza Horizon game carry into FH6?
Your campaign starts from scratch
Playground Games’ February 23, 2026 campaign overview says FH6 begins with the player as a tourist in Japan rather than an established Horizon star. Its wording is unambiguous: “None of that past fame is carried with you.” You therefore enter the new campaign without the previous game’s reputation or completed-campaign status.
That statement concerns fame and campaign standing. It should not be stretched into a claim that every possible account item has been tested and rejected. The official material does not publish an item-by-item table covering every car, collectible, photo, reward, challenge or cosmetic from another Horizon release. In practical terms, plan for FH6’s campaign and collection work as a fresh progression track unless Playground Games specifically documents an exception.

What you should not assume
- A completed FH5 career does not make you a Horizon Legend when FH6 starts.
- Cars or collectibles owned in an earlier release are not documented as an imported FH6 inventory.
- Playlist points, Journal stamps and discovery photos from another title should not be counted as FH6 progress.
- The launch roster figure of more than 550 cars describes FH6’s available cars at launch; it is not a count of collectibles or proof of transferred ownership.
How FH6’s own collection progression works
Build the campaign through Wristband Events
FH6’s opening loop is deliberately about earning status. You complete Wristband Events to obtain the next Festival Wristband. There are seven Wristbands in the campaign. Earning all seven makes your character a Horizon Legend and opens Legend Island.
This is campaign progression inside FH6, not a conversion of a previous game’s level, fame or achievements. A returning player and a first-time player use the same Japan campaign structure.
Use the Collection Journal as your record
The Collection Journal is the in-game record for this adventure. It tracks progress across two paths: Horizon Festival and Discover Japan. Playground Games says both can be progressed at your leisure, so the game does not require you to finish one path before engaging with the other.
Journal activity can include discoveries, photographs, activities and challenges. The Journal is more than a checklist: its stamps unlock additional collection routes and rewards. Collecting stamps unlocks new player houses, Barn Find rumors and The Estate. Journal rewards can include cars, credits and cosmetic items tied to specified activities or challenges.

| Journal element | How it functions in FH6 |
|---|---|
| Horizon Festival path | One of the two campaign-and-collection paths recorded by the Journal. |
| Discover Japan path | The second path, also available to progress at your own pace. |
| Stamps | Collected progress markers that unlock houses, Barn Find rumors and The Estate. |
| Photos | Photos taken for the Journal are saved there; a later photo can replace an earlier one. |
| Rewards | Cars, credits and cosmetic items can be attached to specified activities and challenges. |
Journal photos are an FH6 record, not a cross-title promise
When you take a photo for the Journal, it is saved in that FH6 record. If you take another photo for the same entry, the later image can replace the earlier one. The campaign information does not say that Journal photos move into another Forza Horizon title, so treat them as part of your FH6 save and Journal rather than as a shared series-wide gallery.
Treasure Cars and Barn Finds: what unlocks what
Treasure Cars use exploration and photo clues
Treasure Cars are found by exploring Japan and interpreting a supplied photo clue to locate the vehicle. This makes them an exploration path within the FH6 collection system: the relevant discovery happens in your current FH6 world and is recorded there.
The official car-culture overview gives examples including the 1991 Nissan Figaro, 1985 Nissan Safari Turbo and 1969 Dodge Charger R/T. These examples identify the type of reward involved; they do not establish a complete Treasure Car total.
Barn Find rumors come from Journal Stamps
Barn Find clues are tied to the Journal Stamps you collect. As stamps accumulate, new rumors become available, sending you toward additional hidden vehicles. The dependency matters: a Barn Find rumor is an outcome of FH6 Journal progress, not a Barn Find state imported from another game.

Playground Games has not published a complete, authoritative count for every Treasure Car, Barn Find or Journal collectible in the material available for this explanation. Avoid guides or spreadsheets that present an unsupported “total” as an official number, and check the Journal in your own game for the entries currently available to your account and version.
What cross-save does—and does not—mean
Cross-save keeps FH6 progress with you
Playground Games describes cross-save as allowing campaign progress to follow the player across supported platforms. If you continue FH6 on another supported device, the relevant FH6 campaign state can remain available rather than forcing a new Wristband run.
That continuity is between installations of FH6. It does not turn an earlier Horizon game’s career into an FH6 save, and it does not establish that every historical item from another release is imported.
PS5 timing and the announced platform scope
In an October 8, 2026 announcement, Playground Games scheduled FH6 Standard and Deluxe editions for PS5 on January 26, 2027, with Premium early access beginning January 21. The announcement also confirmed cross-save with Xbox and Steam and said a disc edition would be available through supporting retailers. These are announced plans and dates; verify availability and final platform details near the time you buy or switch devices.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The PS5 announcement is useful for understanding cross-save scope, not for proving cross-game progression. Moving an FH6 save between Xbox, Steam and the announced PS5 support is a different operation from moving progress out of FH5 or any earlier title.

What happened after level 100
The October 5, 2026 Horizon Meets update added 200 Horizon Play levels beyond the original level 100. Playground Games states that excess Horizon Play XP already earned after reaching level 100 counted toward those newly added ranks.
This is a specific within-FH6 update rule. It means a player who had accumulated qualifying excess XP did not necessarily lose that amount when the level cap expanded. It does not say that Journal stamps, cars, photos, Barn Find clues or other progression tracks receive the same treatment.

XP crediting works because the update explicitly defined how excess Horizon Play XP would be applied. Unless an update or support document names another system, assume that system follows its own rules. In particular, do not use the Horizon Meets XP behavior as evidence that collectibles from FH5 transfer to FH6 or that every FH6 reward is retroactively credited after a patch.

Playlist history is lifetime FH6 progress
The July 13, 2026 Italian Exotics update describes Series History Rewards based on lifetime Festival Playlist Points. It states a threshold of 500 lifetime points for the 1972 Mazda Cosmo 110S Series II Series History Reward.
“Lifetime” here refers to the FH6 Playlist measure described by that update. It is not a claim that Playlist Points earned in another Forza Horizon game are imported. Keep this track separate from Journal Stamps, Wristband Events and Horizon Play levels; each has a different purpose and documented rule.
A practical way to start or switch your FH6 collection
- Expect a fresh campaign. Begin as a tourist and plan to earn the seven Wristbands through Wristband Events.
- Open the Collection Journal regularly. Check both Horizon Festival and Discover Japan, then note which activities and challenges contribute to the entries you want.
- Collect Stamps deliberately. Stamps are the route to additional houses, Barn Find rumors and The Estate.
- Follow photo clues while exploring. Treasure Cars require interpreting the supplied image and locating the vehicle in the FH6 world.
- Save the device transition for a supported setup. Confirm that the destination platform is within FH6’s supported cross-save arrangement and that you are using the same game account before continuing.
- Update before judging your level total. If you were above level 100 before the Horizon Meets update, allow the game to apply any documented excess Horizon Play XP to the 200 new levels.
- Use the Journal and current update notes as the authority. They show what your current version has actually unlocked; do not infer a missing collectible from another game’s completion screen.
What remains undocumented
There is no complete official carryover matrix covering every collectible and progression category across all Horizon releases. The available campaign, car-culture, update and platform announcements establish the rules described above, but they do not supply a universal inventory-transfer table or an official total for every Treasure Car, Barn Find and Journal item.

It is that previous-game fame is explicitly excluded, FH6’s collection is built through its own Journal and activities, and cross-save preserves FH6 progress between supported devices. Any broader exception needs a specific Playground Games announcement.
