These are that publisher’s editorial rankings, not an objective or independently tested measure; use the mode and team-role notes below when deciding who to build.
Fortress Saga hero tier list
The following tiers reproduce Pocket Gamer’s published ordering. The source does not rank heroes within each tier and has no separate F tier, so S+ is a group rather than a single top-ranked champion.

Who should you use on your team?
A tier label is a starting point, not a substitute for team fit. Pocket Gamer’s descriptions show the kinds of contributions behind some of its placements:

- Area damage and control: Winter (S) deals area damage, knocks enemies back, and freezes enemies after four skill hits. Zelos (S) deals damage and inflicts Fear, can stun bosses, and absorbs some HP based on damage. Ravia (A) deals area damage, applies bleed, and has execute potential.
- Damage and team support: Jibril (S) is a burst-damage dealer effective against both single targets and groups. Soba (A) boosts attack, deals damage, and can knock enemies down.
- Situational utility: Bruce (B) deals area damage and passively raises allied attack. Loxia (B) provides crowd control. Bernhard (B) deals area damage, reduces defense, taunts, and can gain crowd-control immunity; Pocket Gamer notes he may rank higher with the right team and opponents.
Why tier lists disagree
Rankings reflect their intended mode and editorial method. Kamigame’s page, updated October 6, 2026, separates PvE waves, PvE bosses, and PvP; its wave list places Violet, Ruingaladh, Iris, and others in SS, while Pocket Gamer assigns some of those heroes different tiers. Kamigame’s Fortress Saga rankings are a Japan-focused comparison, not a direct replacement for the global-facing list.
MobileMatters’ August 2026 list also differs: it places Winter, Ruingaladh, Ravia, and Elizabeth in S, while Pocket Gamer places them in S, S+, A, and B respectively. MobileMatters’ August 2026 tier list illustrates why averaging rankings from different publishers and dates can mislead.
When choosing who to upgrade, compare the hero’s role with the challenge and the rest of your lineup:

- Mode: A hero valuable for PvE waves may not have the same standing against bosses or in PvP.
- Contribution: Consider whether your team needs damage, crowd control, healing, shields, or buffs—not only a higher letter.
- Synergy: Some abilities explicitly benefit particular allies or other heroes’ stats.
- Access and investment: A ranking alone does not establish how easy a hero is to obtain or how much investment your account needs to make them effective.
Should you reroll?
Pocket Gamer advises against rerolling, reasoning that early access is limited and rerolling deletes progress without guaranteeing a top hero. Treat that as the guide’s recommendation, not a universal rule about every account or game update.
What is Fortress Saga?
Fortress Saga: Idle AFK RPG is described in its Google Play listing as an idle RPG built around a moving fortress, hero collection and summons, upgrades, dungeons, and PvP. The listing, updated September 29, 2026, names collaborations with Sonic the Hedgehog, One Punch Man, Working Cat, Delicious in Dungeon, and Three Kingdoms Challenge.
