In the United States, Fortnite currently sells 800 V-Bucks for $8.99, 2,400 for $22.99, 4,500 for $36.99 and 12,500 for $89.99. Those prices and amounts took effect on March 19, 2026. Larger packs provide more V-Bucks per dollar according to Epic’s displayed comparison, but the best choice depends on the amount you need, your platform, regional pricing and whether you are buying with real money or spending an existing V-Bucks balance.
This guide breaks down the current packs, the March 2026 change, gift-card denominations, Epic Rewards, exact-amount purchases and the limits parents can actually enforce.

Current Fortnite V-Bucks prices in the United States
Epic’s U.S. store lists four standard direct-purchase packs. The effective cost figures below divide the displayed price by the V-Bucks in the pack; they do not subtract future rewards credit, and they do not account for regional taxes or currency conversion.

| Displayed price | V-Bucks received | Epic-displayed bonus | Approximate cost per 1,000 V-Bucks |
|---|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 800 | Baseline | $11.24 |
| $22.99 | 2,400, including 350 bonus V-Bucks | 17% extra | $9.58 |
| $36.99 | 4,500, including 1,200 bonus V-Bucks | 36% extra | $8.22 |
| $89.99 | 12,500, including 4,450 bonus V-Bucks | 56% extra | $7.20 |
Epic calculates the 17%, 36% and 56% figures against the 800-V-Buck pack. In practical terms, the $89.99 pack gives the lowest listed cash cost per V-Buck, while the $8.99 pack minimizes the amount paid at one time. A larger pack is not automatically the right purchase if you will not use the balance.

These are U.S. amounts. Epic states that regional values can differ, so the checkout screen for your account is the authoritative price. A displayed price can also vary by the platform or payment route you use.
What changed on March 19, 2026
Epic’s March 2026 price notice changed both the quantities and the implied value of the four U.S. packs:
| Pack price | Previous amount | Current amount | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 1,000 | 800 | 200 fewer V-Bucks |
| $22.99 | 2,800 | 2,400 | 400 fewer V-Bucks |
| $36.99 | 5,000 | 4,500 | 500 fewer V-Bucks |
| $89.99 | 13,500 | 12,500 | 1,000 fewer V-Bucks |
Epic said, “The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills.” That is the company’s explanation for the change, not an independently verified analysis of its costs. Epic also changed the exact-amount offer from about $0.50 to about $0.99 per 50 V-Bucks. Existing gift cards were not revalued; cards still redeem at the amount printed on them.
Which V-Bucks pack is the best value?
Use the price per V-Buck, not just the headline bonus
The bonus percentages are useful only when the packs are compared with the 800-V-Buck baseline. The table’s per-1,000 figures make the trade-off clearer: each larger pack lowers the cash cost per V-Buck, but requires a larger upfront payment. If you need roughly 700 V-Bucks, buying $8.99 for 800 avoids carrying a large unused balance. If you expect to spend thousands over several purchases, a larger pack can reduce the effective unit price.

For an illustrative budget, buying two 800-V-Buck packs would provide 1,600 V-Bucks for $17.98. The 2,400 pack costs $22.99 and supplies 800 more V-Bucks than that example, but you are paying for the additional balance immediately. Compare the balance you will actually use with the checkout total rather than treating a bonus as free money.
Check whether your payment route earns Epic Rewards
Epic says eligible purchases in Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League earn 20% back in Epic Rewards when bought through the Epic Games Store or Epic’s payment system on PC, iOS, Android or the web. The 20% is rewards credit for later eligible spending through Epic payment; it is not an instant reduction of the pack’s listed price. A $22.99 pack therefore still charges $22.99 at checkout even if the transaction qualifies for rewards credit.
Do not assume every console transaction qualifies. Confirm that the checkout is using an eligible Epic payment route before relying on the rewards calculation, and treat the credit as useful only if you expect to make another eligible purchase.

Epic says selected platforms can buy exact V-Bucks amounts, a feature it says began October 14, 2025. The available amount, price and purchase path depend on the platform and region. When the option appears, compare its per-V-Buck price with the standard packs and buy only what you need. The exact-amount offer is not guaranteed to be available in every country, account or storefront.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

V-Bucks gift cards versus direct purchases
Gift cards and direct packs use different denominations, so the number printed on a card will not necessarily match a current direct-purchase pack.
| Purchase method | Denominations documented by Epic | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Direct V-Bucks purchase | 800, 2,400, 4,500 and 12,500 | U.S. prices listed above; regional and platform availability can differ |
| V-Bucks gift card | 1,000, 2,800, 5,000 and 13,500 | Existing cards redeem for the printed value |
A 2,800-V-Buck card therefore still provides 2,800 V-Bucks when redeemed, even though the current $22.99 direct pack provides 2,400. A card may be convenient as a gift or for separating a child’s spending from a payment card, but check its region and redemption instructions before buying.
Epic’s current Fortnite V-Bucks shop states that V-Bucks packs are non-refundable. Treat a direct purchase as final unless the applicable platform’s law or purchase policy provides a separate remedy. Verify the account, region and denomination before confirming payment.

- Check the account. Sign in to the Fortnite account that should receive the currency. If several family members use the same device, confirm the displayed account name before opening the purchase screen.
- Open the V-Bucks purchase screen. In Fortnite, select the V-Bucks section and review the packs offered to your platform. The quantities shown there take precedence over a general price list.
- Compare the total balance you need. Look at the item or pass you intend to buy, then compare its required balance with the 800, 2,400, 4,500 and 12,500 options. If an exact-amount option is displayed, compare that offer separately.
- Confirm the payment route. If Epic Rewards matter, make sure the checkout is through the Epic Games Store or an Epic payment system on an eligible PC, iOS, Android or web transaction. A console storefront may have different rules.
- Review region, currency and amount. Confirm the country or region attached to the account, the displayed currency, the number of V-Bucks and the final total. Regional values are not interchangeable assumptions.
- Authorize the transaction. Complete the payment or enter the required parental-control PIN. Do not share a parent’s payment credentials or PIN with a child.
- Verify delivery. After the receipt appears, return to the account balance and confirm that the V-Bucks arrived. Keep the receipt or gift-card proof until the balance is correct.
Fortnite spending limits and parental controls
Require approval for real-money purchases
Epic’s parental controls let a parent or guardian require a PIN before a child can authorize real-money purchases using Epic payment. Enable the purchase-authorization PIN in the Epic parental-control settings, keep the PIN private and test it before allowing independent purchases. A PIN protects the payment step; it does not remove V-Bucks already credited to the account.

The under-13 $100 daily limit is narrower than it sounds
For a child who indicates they are under 13, Epic describes a $100 daily limit for combined purchases made using Epic Games payment. Purchases above that amount require a parent or guardian’s PIN to override the limit.
This is not a universal Fortnite spending cap. Epic says the limit does not apply to payments processed by PlayStation, Steam, Xbox or Nintendo Switch, and it does not apply to purchases made with in-game currency such as V-Bucks. A child can therefore spend an existing V-Bucks balance even when the real-money limit has not been reached. Parents should configure the payment controls on each console, computer, phone or tablet used for purchases.
Control paid random items separately
Epic also provides a setting controlling whether a child can spend V-Bucks, or content bought with V-Bucks, on paid random items. Availability of paid random items varies by region. This setting addresses what the balance can buy; it is separate from the PIN that authorizes a real-money payment.

- Start with the planned purchase. Write down the V-Bucks balance required rather than starting with the largest bundle.
- Compare the smallest sufficient option. Use the 800-V-Buck pack or an exact-amount offer when it covers the need without a large remainder.
- Calculate the unit cost. For U.S. packs, the approximate costs are $11.24, $9.58, $8.22 and $7.20 per 1,000 V-Bucks from smallest to largest.
- Account for future use. Choose a larger pack only when you expect to spend the remaining balance and can keep the purchase within your household budget.
- Separate payment controls from balance controls. Set a PIN and device-level purchase restrictions for real money, then decide whether the child may spend the V-Bucks already on the account.
- Recheck before every purchase. Epic can change regional amounts, available denominations or eligible payment routes, so use the current checkout display rather than an old screenshot or price list.
Common questions before buying
Are the U.S. prices valid everywhere?
No. Epic marks the amounts as subject to regional values. Use the store attached to your account and platform for the actual price.

Do old V-Bucks gift cards still work?
Epic says existing cards redeem at their printed values. Confirm that the card is valid for your region and follow its redemption instructions.
Is Epic Rewards an immediate discount?
No. The stated 20% is rewards credit on eligible purchases through specified Epic payment channels, usable later for eligible spending.
Does the $100 limit stop a child from spending V-Bucks?
No. Epic’s under-13 limit applies to combined real-money purchases through Epic payment. It excludes several console payment systems and purchases made with V-Bucks already in the account.
