If a Fortnite skin or other cosmetic is missing, first verify that Fortnite is signed in to the Epic Games account used for the purchase. Then check Fortnite’s recent cosmetic purchase list, the store’s order history, and the purchase’s processing time. A purchase made through PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or Samsung can take up to two hours to appear, and the platform that processed the payment—not necessarily Epic—usually owns the transaction.
Use the steps below to identify where the entitlement is recorded and which support team can actually fix it. A skin that never appeared needs a transaction and account investigation; a skin that appeared and later vanished may have been removed after a refund or payment reversal.

Start with the right diagnosis
“Missing” can describe several different situations. Choosing the correct branch prevents you from checking the wrong account history or contacting a team that cannot access the transaction.

Do not buy another copy while diagnosing the problem. A second purchase can make the account history harder to interpret and does not restore an entitlement that is attached to a different account.

1. Confirm the Epic account used in Fortnite
Fortnite can be launched through a console profile while the entitlement belongs to a different Epic Games account. This is the most important check because a successful payment on one account will not place the cosmetic on another account merely because both use the same console.
Check the in-game profile
- Open Fortnite and select the player profile icon.
- Open Settings, then the Account and Privacy area.
- Record the Epic Games account ID or other account identifier shown there.
- Compare that identity with the account used when the purchase was made. Check the receipt recipient, the email address, and the console or mobile profile that completed checkout.
If the receipt was sent to a different Epic account, sign out and use the account that made the purchase. Avoid creating a new Epic account during troubleshooting; that can leave you with another empty account rather than reconnecting the original entitlement.
Check the platform identity as well
For a console purchase, verify that Fortnite is running under the same PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo profile that completed the transaction. On a Samsung device, check the Samsung account used by the Galaxy Store checkout. A different family profile, guest profile, or secondary console login can make a legitimate purchase look absent.

2. Allow the purchase to finish processing
Epic’s troubleshooting guidance allows up to two hours for a recent purchase made on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Samsung devices to appear in Fortnite. Do not treat the item as permanently lost until that window has passed.
Use the correct device time
On the device where the purchase was made, set the date, time, and time zone correctly. An incorrect clock can prevent the platform receipt and Fortnite entitlement from synchronizing. Use the device’s automatic date-and-time option when available, then make sure the selected time zone matches your actual location.

Refresh after the waiting period
- Close Fortnite completely rather than leaving it suspended.
- Confirm that the console or Samsung profile is still the purchasing profile.
- Reopen Fortnite after the two-hour processing window and check the Locker.
- For a missing V-Bucks balance, restarting the game can force a balance refresh. For a missing cosmetic, continue with the account and store-history checks below.
Reinstalling is not the first step. Reinstallation cannot move a purchase between accounts, and it is useful only after the purchasing account, device time, and store record have been confirmed.
3. Check Fortnite’s cosmetic purchase history
Fortnite provides a recent cosmetic purchase list through the profile and return/cancellation controls. This list is a quick way to determine whether Fortnite recorded the item on the account you are currently using.

- Open Fortnite’s player profile.
- Go to Settings and then Account and Privacy.
- Choose Return or Cancel Purchase (the wording can appear as Cancel Purchase in the relevant Item Shop area).
- Review the listed cosmetics and their purchase dates.
Web route
- Sign in to the Epic Games account associated with Fortnite.
- Open the Fortnite Item Shop.
- Open the profile menu and select the return or cancel-purchase area.
- Compare the displayed entries with the receipt and the cosmetic you expected.
The visible cosmetic list covers only the most recent 30 days. An older purchase can be genuine without appearing in this list, so absence there is not proof that the transaction never happened. For older items, rely on the platform receipt and transaction record instead.
4. Find the transaction in the store that charged you
The payment trail identifies who can investigate delivery. Epic Games Store purchases appear in Epic’s Transaction History. Purchases made through PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Nintendo eShop, or Samsung Galaxy Store are managed by those stores and generally do not appear in Epic’s transaction page.
Epic Games Store purchase
Sign in to the Epic Games account used at checkout and open its Transaction History. Locate the order and record the order number, date, amount, and product description. If the order is present but the cosmetic is absent in Fortnite, the account identity and delivery details are the key evidence for an Epic support request.

Console or Samsung purchase
Open the order history for the exact platform profile that paid. Search the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Nintendo eShop, or Samsung Galaxy Store account rather than Epic’s transaction page. The platform receipt should show the product, time, amount, and account that received the charge.

Use the receipt email as an account check
Search the email inbox associated with the payment. Compare the address that received the receipt with the Epic account currently shown in Fortnite. Also check spam, promotions, family-account mailboxes, and a parent’s account if the purchase was approved by someone else. Keep the original receipt; screenshots that omit the order number or account identifier are less useful to support.
5. Contact the support team that owns the transaction
Support ownership follows the checkout channel. Epic cannot directly edit a transaction that was processed by a console store, while a platform store cannot grant an Epic Games Store entitlement it never sold.

Describe the problem precisely
Tell support whether the cosmetic never appeared or appeared and disappeared. Include the exact cosmetic name, purchase time and time zone, platform, account ID, order number, amount, and screenshots of the store receipt and in-game profile. Do not send passwords, full payment-card numbers, or security codes.
When Epic support is appropriate
For an Epic Games Store V-Bucks purchase that remains missing, Epic’s guidance asks for the order number, amount purchased, and platform played on. For a real-money cosmetic, attach the receipt and platform transaction record and identify the seller that processed the payment. This lets support distinguish a delivery failure from a store-side authorization issue.

6. If the skin appeared and then vanished
A cosmetic that was visible and later removed follows a different path from a purchase that never arrived. Epic states that items removed after a refund or payment reversal cannot be restored by Player Support. A bank, card issuer, payment service, or platform may reverse a charge after a refund request, chargeback, failed authorization, or other payment dispute.
Check for a refund or reversal
- Review the platform order for a refunded, canceled, or reversed status.
- Check the payment account for a returned charge or chargeback notice.
- Ask other household members whether they requested a refund.
- Compare the date of the removal with the date of any refund notification.
If you believe the removal was an error, contact the payment provider first. For a purchase made through a third-party platform, use that platform’s support channel. Do not submit repeated refund requests while an investigation is open, because additional reversals can create more account discrepancies.

Epic’s cancellation and return tools are designed to undo eligible Item Shop purchases made with V-Bucks. They are not a method for locating a missing real-money entitlement.
Cancel Purchase
Cancel Purchase is generally available for 24 hours after an eligible purchase, provided the item has not been used or equipped. Using the cosmetic can remove the cancellation option, so stop equipping or testing an item you may want to cancel.

Return Tickets
Eligible purchases made within the last 30 days may qualify for a Return Ticket. Exclusions apply, and the number of available tickets is limited. A successful return removes the item and returns the V-Bucks; it does not leave the skin in your Locker while also crediting the currency.
If the issue is that an expected cosmetic is absent, do not use a Return Ticket as a diagnostic experiment. First establish whether the purchase belongs to the account and which store processed it.
8. What to do when refunded V-Bucks do not appear
After a cosmetic refund, Epic says returned V-Bucks usually arrive within a few minutes. If the balance does not update:
- Refresh the displayed V-Bucks balance by navigating away from the Item Shop and back.
- Confirm that Fortnite is signed in to the account that made the return.
- Check whether the currency was returned to a different platform balance. Shared Wallet behavior can vary by platform and currency type.
- Restart Fortnite and recheck the balance.
Keep the return confirmation and the original cosmetic entry. Those records show that the issue concerns currency delivery after a completed return, not an unprocessed skin purchase.
9. A practical decision tree
- Is the receipt for the same Epic account shown in Fortnite? If no, switch to the purchasing account or contact the account owner. If yes, continue.
- Was the purchase made within the last two hours on a console or Samsung device? If yes, correct the device clock, wait, restart Fortnite, and check again. If no, continue.
- Does the cosmetic appear in the recent 30-day purchase list? If yes, Fortnite recorded it; check the Locker and submit the record to the transaction owner if it is not usable. If no, continue.
- Is there a matching order in the store that charged you? If no, investigate the payment account, family profile, or an incomplete authorization. If yes, contact that store’s support team with the order evidence.
- Was the item previously visible? If yes, investigate refund or payment reversal status rather than treating it as a new delivery delay.
This sequence separates account identity, processing delay, missing store records, and post-refund removal without mixing their remedies.
10. Prepare a support case that can be solved
Gather the following before opening a ticket:
- Epic Games account ID shown in Fortnite.
- Console, PC, or Samsung device and the profile used to play.
- Store name that processed the payment.
- Order number and receipt email.
- Cosmetic name, purchase date, approximate time, and time zone.
- Amount charged and currency.
- Screenshots of the transaction status and the in-game account profile.
- A short timeline: purchase completed, waiting period passed, account checked, history checked, and current symptom.
Use one case for one transaction when possible. State whether you want delivery of an entitlement, clarification of a reversal, or help with an eligible V-Bucks return. Those are separate requests with different rules.
Common mistakes that delay a resolution
- Checking only Epic Transaction History: console and Samsung purchases are recorded by their stores instead.
- Assuming the console profile is the Epic account: the two identities can differ.
- Ignoring the 30-day history limit: older cosmetics will not appear in Fortnite’s recent list.
- Reinstalling before verifying ownership: a reinstall cannot transfer an entitlement.
- Using a return request for a delivery problem: a return removes the item and refunds V-Bucks; it does not recover a missing purchase.
- Opening a chargeback without checking account history: a payment reversal can cause an item to be removed.
- Sending sensitive payment data: support needs order evidence, not passwords or full card numbers.
What should happen next
Once the account, processing window, cosmetic history, and store receipt all agree, the remaining issue belongs to the transaction owner. An Epic Games Store order should be taken to Epic Games Support; a PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or Samsung purchase should be taken to the relevant platform. If the item disappeared after a refund or payment reversal, investigate that reversal with the payment provider instead of requesting a duplicate delivery.
