For a new guitar controller, the PDP Riffmaster is the clearest supported choice in Epic’s published compatibility list. Buy the PlayStation version for PS5 or PS4, or the Xbox version for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Epic’s guitar list dates to April 23, 2024, so check the exact model and platform before buying. You do not need a physical guitar to play Pro Lead or Pro Bass: supported standard controllers and keyboard and mouse work too.
Which guitar controllers work with Fortnite Festival?
Epic’s April 23, 2024 compatibility table names these guitar models and platform combinations. It is a dated list, not a guarantee that every rhythm-game guitar, clone, adapter, or community setup works.

| Guitar controller | Platforms listed by Epic | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| PDP Riffmaster, PlayStation edition | PS5 and PS4 | PDP says this version is not designed or tested for PC. |
| PDP Riffmaster, Xbox edition | Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC | PDP specifies Windows 10/11 for the Xbox version. |
| Rock Band 4 Rivals Wireless Fender Jaguar for PS4 | PS5 and PS4 | Epic names the PS4 model. |
| Rock Band 4 Wireless Fender Stratocaster for PS4 | PS5 and PS4 | Epic names the PS4 model. |
| Rock Band 4 Rivals Wireless Fender Jaguar for Xbox One | Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One; PC with Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 | The PC entry specifies the adapter and Windows 10. |
| Rock Band 4 Wireless Fender Stratocaster for Xbox One | Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One; PC with Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 | The PC entry specifies the adapter and Windows 10. |
For the Riffmaster, Epic’s platform list is consistent with PDP/Turtle Beach’s product page: the Xbox variant lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11, while the PlayStation variant is for PS5 and PS4 and is not designed or tested for PC. Choose the edition for the platform you intend to use; do not assume the PlayStation model works on PC or that editions are interchangeable. Epic’s April 23, 2024 guitar compatibility table and PDP/Turtle Beach’s product specifications provide the cited details.

Should you buy a Riffmaster or use a Rock Band 4 guitar?
Choose a Riffmaster for a new guitar
The Riffmaster is the most straightforward new-guitar route supported by the cited sources. Its separate PlayStation and Xbox editions have distinct platform support, so verify the edition in the listing before purchase. PDP/Turtle Beach describes it as compatible with Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4. Its advertised battery life is up to 36 hours per charge; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independent test.

Consider a Rock Band 4 guitar if you already own one
Epic lists specific Rock Band 4 Fender Jaguar and Stratocaster models. A compatible guitar you already own may avoid buying another controller, but used condition and included accessories matter. For Xbox One versions on PC, Epic’s table calls for the Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10. Confirm you have the specified adapter rather than assuming any wireless adapter or Windows configuration will work.
Epic’s list does not establish support for every Guitar Hero controller, third-party clone, or adapter combination. If a model is not named, compatibility is not established by this list.

Do Pro Lead and Pro Bass require a guitar controller?
No. Epic says Pro Lead and Pro Bass can be played with supported keyboard and mouse, a standard controller, or a guitar controller. A dedicated guitar is a physical-control preference, not a requirement to access the gameplay. The pro parts are available on Main Stage for current and future Jam Tracks, and use five colored frets—green, red, yellow, blue, and orange—with strumming inputs and hammer-on and pull-off notes. Epic says colored notes can be toggled and Pro scores have separate leaderboard listings. See Epic’s Pro Lead and Pro Bass support page and its Season 3 announcement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Epic’s Jam Tracks help page describes Pro parts as requiring a guitar controller to be visible or selectable. That interface guidance does not mean a guitar is mandatory for playing them: Epic separately documents standard inputs and a setting for displaying the choices without a connected guitar.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What works for Pro Drums?
Pro Drums support is more specific than Pro Lead and Pro Bass. Epic says the mode was designed for existing wireless Rock Band 4 drum peripherals and properly configured MIDI kits. Its published table lists only the following supported setups; do not generalize those entries to other kits or platforms.

No. Fortnite Festival’s guitars, keytars, drums, microphones, and basses can be Locker cosmetics. Epic says these virtual instruments provide no performance advantage; they are distinct from physical peripherals used to play. See Epic’s explanation of Festival instrument cosmetics.
