For Pro Lead and Pro Bass in Fortnite Festival, hold the fret color shown on the lane and strum at the note’s timing. If the guitar parts are hidden, enable Always Display Pro Parts in Settings → Game → Festival. Then run Main Stage → Stage Tech → Tune-up to measure audio/video offset and input latency with your actual screen, speakers or headset, and controller.
What Pro Lead and Pro Bass require
Pro Lead and Pro Bass are the guitar-focused parts in Festival Jam Tracks. They use five colored fret lanes—green, red, yellow, blue, and orange—and a separate strum input. A note is played only when the matching fret is held and the strum control is pressed at the correct point in the scrolling note highway.

The rule is simultaneous input: selecting the color without strumming does not play a normal note, and strumming without the required fret does not produce the intended note. This is different from ordinary Festival parts that can be played with standard gamepad buttons.
Epic describes Pro Lead and Pro Bass as parts available on current and future Jam Tracks. A guitar controller can also be assigned to non-Pro parts, including vocals or drums, when a song and player setup allow it.

How to make Pro Lead and Pro Bass appear
Supported guitar controllers are intended to expose Pro Lead and Pro Bass automatically. If the parts are missing from the song screen, force them to display with this setting:
- From the lobby, select Festival Main Stage.
- Open the profile menu, then choose Settings.
- Open the Game tab.
- Select Festival.
- Turn on Always Display Pro Parts.
- Select Apply before leaving the menu.
Return to the Main Stage song selection and check the available parts again. This option changes what the interface shows; it does not turn an unsupported guitar into a compatible device. If the option is enabled but the controller is not detected, use the connection and troubleshooting checks below.
Default keyboard and controller mappings
Version 30.00 added keyboard-and-mouse keybind support for Pro Lead and Pro Bass. Epic’s documented keyboard defaults are:

How to play notes, chords, and HOPO notes
Regular Pro notes
Read the color approaching the hit line, hold that fret input, and press strum as the note reaches the line. For a chord, hold every colored fret shown together and strum once at the chord’s timing. Releasing a fret before the strum can turn a correct-looking attempt into a miss.
Hammer-On and Pull-Off notes
Pro parts replace the Lift Notes used elsewhere with Hammer-On and Pull-Off (HOPO) notes. During a combo, a HOPO note can be activated by pressing the matching note-color keybind without pressing strum. If the sequence is broken, follow the normal hold-and-strum rule until a new combo is established.
Strumming technique
Use a deliberate, single strum for each displayed note unless the chart calls for repeated notes. When a note is close to another, keep the required fret held and time each strum to its own hit window. If every note appears consistently early or late, calibrate before changing your technique.

Calibrate audio, video, and input timing
Festival separates the delay caused by the audio/video chain from the delay caused by the input device. Calibrate with the same display mode, audio output, controller, and connection that you use for play. Switching from television speakers to a headset, changing a receiver, or moving from a wired to a wireless connection can change the result.

- Enter Festival Main Stage.
- Speak to the Stage Tech on the right side of the stage.
- Choose Tune-up.
- Run the test for Audio/Video Offset.
- Run the test for Input Latency.
- Save the suggested values and play a short section to verify the feel.
The Tune-up screen also provides an Optimize Manually path. Use it when the automatic test is affected by room noise, a difficult display mode, Bluetooth variability, or a setup that changes during play.
There is no single millisecond value that is correct for every player. Epic’s published material does not establish a universal offset. If notes consistently register before you expect them, adjust the relevant setting in the later direction; if they consistently register after the hit line, adjust it in the earlier direction. Make small changes, replay the same passage, and change one variable at a time so you know which adjustment helped.
Fixing input latency and timing problems
Every note feels early or late
- Run Tune-up again with the exact display, audio output, and guitar connection used for play.
- Check whether the display has a game or low-latency mode; avoid changing modes after calibration.
- Use the manual optimizer in small increments rather than copying a value from another player.
- Test a simple song section before judging the new setting.
Only the guitar input feels delayed
- Reconnect the controller and confirm that the game recognizes it before entering a song.
- If the device is wireless, reduce distance and interference and check its battery or charge.
- On PC, confirm that the correct platform version and any required wireless adapter are connected.
- Rebind a fret and strum temporarily to a keyboard to isolate a controller problem from an audio/video problem.
Timing changes from song to song
Do not immediately create a new offset for every track. First check for a changing output device, a television processing mode, variable wireless behavior, or a frame-rate issue. A stable setup should be calibrated once and then rechecked only after hardware, display, or audio settings change.

Compatibility is not the same as availability. Current price, stock, firmware status, and bundle contents change over time and are not established by the compatibility information above. Confirm the retailer’s platform label, included receiver, and return policy before ordering.
Platform and adapter checks before connecting a guitar
Most connection failures are SKU or adapter mistakes rather than an in-game setting. Use this checklist:
- Match the guitar’s platform edition to the console or PC you intend to use.
- For an Xbox guitar on PC, install and connect the required Xbox Wireless Adapter where the model’s instructions call for one.
- Do not assume a PlayStation guitar will work on Windows simply because the same product name has an Xbox edition.
- Pair or plug in the controller before launching Festival, then confirm that its fret and strum inputs respond in the game’s control screen.
- If a receiver is supplied, connect it directly to the system during testing instead of through an unpowered hub.
Epic has said it is continuing to improve Pro Lead and Pro Bass and investigating ways to expand the compatible-controller list. That means a controller not named in the current compatibility guidance should be treated as unconfirmed, not guaranteed to work because it uses a familiar five-fret design.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Keyboard and mouse: use the documented 1–5 fret keys and Right Shift or Enter for strum, then customize them if needed.
- Controller-to-keyboard remapping: map convenient gamepad buttons to the fret and strum actions when your platform or accessibility setup supports remapping.
- Accessibility devices: use a compatible device that can send the same mapped inputs.
These options reproduce the input commands; they do not provide the physical spacing or tactile feedback of a guitar neck. A keyboard can still play the chart correctly when the fret and strum timing is accurate.
Why a mapping may seem not to work
The fret key changes nothing
Check that you are in a Pro Lead or Pro Bass lane, not a different Festival part. Confirm the keybind in the current profile, because custom layouts can replace the documented defaults. Then test one fret at a time in the control screen.
Strum works, but notes miss
Holding the color is not enough: the strum must arrive at the note timing. Recheck Audio/Video Offset and Input Latency, then practice a slow passage with one fret held continuously and separate, timed strums.

Overdrive or whammy does not activate
Verify that you are pressing the mapped control—Page Down and Right Ctrl on the documented keyboard layout, or the assigned trigger on a controller—and that the chart currently permits that action. Rebind the function if another application or keyboard layout intercepts the default key.
The Pro parts still do not appear
Confirm that Always Display Pro Parts is enabled under Settings → Game → Festival, select Apply, and return to Festival Main Stage. If the parts remain absent, disconnect and reconnect the controller, restart the game, and verify that the specific hardware model is on the supported list.
A reliable setup sequence
- Identify the exact guitar model and platform SKU.
- Connect the controller or choose a keyboard, remapped controller, or accessibility device.
- Launch Festival and enable Always Display Pro Parts if needed.
- Open the controls screen and confirm the five fret inputs, strum, Overdrive, and whammy bindings.
- Run Stage Tech → Tune-up for Audio/Video Offset and Input Latency.
- Play a short Pro Lead or Pro Bass section and make only small manual adjustments if timing still feels consistently early or late.
- Save the working setup and recalibrate only after changing the display, audio path, controller, or connection.
This sequence separates three different problems—hidden Pro parts, incorrect button assignments, and timing delay—so you can fix the actual cause instead of repeatedly changing unrelated settings.
