Former Omidyar Network CEO Launches AI Investor Network Andaris

Mike Kubzansky, former CEO of Omidyar Network, is launching Andaris, an information-sharing network for large investors focused on AI risks and responsible practices, according to The Information. The report, published October 8, 2026, says the initiative has about $25 million in initial grant funding and is intended to help investors use their influence with companies and fund managers.

What is Andaris?

Andaris is a network for institutional investors to exchange information about AI-related risks and governance. Kubzansky told The Information that it is the first U.S.-based network focused exclusively on AI. That description is his characterization, not an independently established ranking; the report notes that existing organizations also address some overlapping investor concerns.

Andaris is not described as an AI company or a regulator. Its approach is investor coordination: members can compare concerns and use their investment relationships and capital decisions to encourage practices they consider trustworthy.

Who is behind it, and who is it for?

Kubzansky is leading the launch after serving as CEO of Omidyar Network, a philanthropic investment firm. The network is aimed at “universal owners”—pension funds, endowments, and family offices with portfolios broadly exposed to the U.S. economy.

The Information names Roy Bahat, head of Bloomberg Beta, and Ian Fuller, co-founder and CEO of Westfuller Advisors, as early members. The report does not provide a complete member list or detailed entry criteria.

How much funding and investor participation are reported?

Measure What the October 8, 2026 report says
Initial grant funding About $25 million. The grantmakers and funding terms are not identified.
Assets represented at the planned first convening Expected attendees were said to represent about $1.75 trillion in assets under management. This is a reported estimate for attendees, not a verified total for Andaris membership.

The report said the first convening was planned for the end of October 2026. It does not establish whether that gathering subsequently took place.

What do investors plan to do about AI risks?

The network’s early discussions are expected to cover risks linked to the AI boom, including round-trip financing in data-center construction and corporate governance questions related to AI cyberattacks. These are examples of issues for investor scrutiny, not findings that any specific company has engaged in misconduct.

Investors may act through several existing levers:

  • Engage portfolio companies: ask more informed questions about AI risks, oversight, and governance.
  • Select fund managers: consider how managers assess and address AI-related exposure and practices.
  • Direct investment: use capital allocation decisions to reward or discourage approaches to AI.

Kubzansky said, “We would like to help prove the case that trustworthy AI will be more profitable AI in the long run because no one tends to buy technology they don’t trust.” He also argued that “Investors have a lot of tools at their disposal without waiting for policy,” and said, “They don’t have to wait for Congress to get its act together.” He added that “there is undoubtedly going to be a need for policy as well.” The stated aim is therefore to complement public policy, not replace it.

How does Andaris differ from existing investor groups?

The Information contrasts Andaris with the Council of Institutional Investors and the National Association of State Treasurers, which already serve some overlapping purposes. The reported distinction is Andaris’s AI-only focus, as Kubzansky describes it. The article does not provide enough information to compare the organizations’ membership, governance, activity, or results in detail.

What is not yet established?

The October 8, 2026 report does not name the grantmakers, explain Andaris’s formal governance or access terms, state whether members pay fees, or list all members. It also does not verify that the planned first convening occurred. The $1.75 trillion figure should be read as the expected assets represented by convening attendees, not as confirmed network-wide assets.
