Fortitude announced the appointment on September 17. Andrea Childs, who had been CEO, transitioned to COO. The leadership change is effective; Fortitude’s proposed combination with HeartSciences and its planned Nasdaq listing remain separate, conditional matters.
What changed at Fortitude
Fortitude’s board approved Leverton as CEO and a member of its board, according to the company’s September 17, 2026 SEC-hosted announcement and related filing. Her appointment took effect Monday, September 21. Childs left the CEO role and became COO on that date.

Fortitude presented the appointment as part of its effort to expand its Zcash-focused mining strategy and advance its proposed move toward public markets. The release establishes the leadership change, not the outcome of those business plans.
Who is Jaime Leverton?
Fortitude described Leverton as having more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning digital assets, capital markets, data-center infrastructure, energy, and computing, including experience as a public-company CEO in digital-asset mining. That résumé summary is the company’s characterization; the appointment announcement is not a detailed independent account of her career.

In the company-issued announcement, Leverton said: “I have spent my career at the intersection of digital assets, infrastructure, and the public markets, and I am honored to lead this team at such a consequential moment for the Company.”
What Andrea Childs will do as COO
Childs is moving from CEO to COO, keeping a leadership role focused on Fortitude’s operations. She said her priorities would be mining operations, fleet and infrastructure strategy, and industry relationships. Her transition provides continuity in those areas while Leverton takes the top executive position.

Fortitude describes itself as a vertically integrated digital-asset mining platform anchored in Zcash, with a venture-mining approach across proof-of-work networks. Those are the company’s descriptions of its business and strategy.

How the proposed HeartSciences deal fits in
In a June 23, 2026 announcement, Fortitude and Nasdaq-listed HeartSciences proposed an all-stock business combination. Fortitude said Leverton was expected to remain CEO of the combined company if the transaction is completed.

The same announcement said the combined company was expected to use the Fortitude name and seek Nasdaq trading under the symbol TUDE, subject to Nasdaq approval. These are proposed terms: the cited announcements do not establish that the combination has closed or that Nasdaq has approved the ticker. Leverton’s appointment at Fortitude took effect independently of those conditions.
