Samsung Kids, Android’s built-in parental controls, and Google Family Link have different recovery paths. Check the name shown on the screen before trying anything.
First identify which PIN you forgot
Samsung Kids is a Samsung app; Android parental controls are managed in the device’s Settings; Family Link supervision is managed through a parent’s Google account. Their PINs and recovery steps are not interchangeable. Samsung Kids is available on Galaxy phones and tablets running Android 9.0 or later, though carrier availability varies, according to Samsung’s availability guidance.

- If the screen says Samsung Kids, use the Samsung Kids steps below.
- If it says Parental controls, use Android’s Forgot PIN route only if a recovery account was configured.
- If a parent manages the device through Family Link, ask that parent to remove the child’s account from this device if appropriate.
Exit Samsung Kids without resetting the device
Try the configured device screen lock
Samsung Kids can use either a custom Kids PIN or the device’s screen-lock credentials as its parental-controls lock. If the device lock was selected during setup, try that credential. Samsung documents this option in its Samsung Kids PIN guidance.
Request Samsung’s temporary password
Samsung’s US instructions say that after five incorrect PIN attempts, you can send a blank email from the email address registered for the device to [email protected]. Check for Samsung’s reply, including your spam folder, and use the temporary password to reset the PIN. This route may depend on the device, its setup, and region; it is not a universal recovery method. Follow Samsung’s US instructions for the applicable device.

Reset the Samsung Kids app in Safe Mode
If the credential and temporary-password routes are unavailable, Samsung Canada documents uninstalling Samsung Kids in Safe Mode. This resets the app, not the entire phone or tablet. Samsung says you will leave Kids mode and need to set up Samsung Kids again; the app’s settings return to defaults. Do not assume app data or child-created content will be preserved.
- Open the device’s power menu. The button combination can vary on newer Galaxy models.
- Touch and hold Power off until the Safe mode option appears, then tap it to restart in Safe Mode.
- Open Settings, find Samsung Kids, and choose Uninstall. The precise Settings layout can vary by device.
- Restart the device normally to leave Safe Mode. Samsung Kids will need to be set up again.
See Samsung Canada’s Safe Mode instructions and its Samsung Kids setup guidance. The ordinary exit path is More options → Close Samsung Kids, followed by the configured PIN or screen lock; that path cannot help if you have forgotten the required credential.

If the prompt is Android parental controls
On Android’s built-in controls, open Settings → Parental controls → Manage parental controls PIN → Forgot PIN. Google says this recovery option works only if a recovery account was configured. Without one, Google says a factory reset is required; the PIN’s Delete option also requires entering the PIN, so it is not a forgotten-PIN bypass. See Google Android Help.

Family Link is not the same as a Samsung Kids PIN or Android’s on-device parental-controls PIN. A parent can remove the child’s account from an individual Android device through Family Link, or remove it from the device settings where allowed. Google says this removes account-associated information and parental-supervision settings from that device, but supervision remains on the child’s account elsewhere. Google recommends a factory reset to clear remaining app data. Treat this as parent-managed account removal, not a PIN bypass or a data-preserving exit. See Google’s Family Link guidance.

Choose the supported route

If you are unsure which path applies, note the exact wording on the PIN screen, plus the device brand and model, Android or One UI version, and region. Use the owner or parent’s recovery route; do not use third-party bypass tools or exploit workarounds.
