Foldable phone battery life has no single dependable number: it changes with the model, network, apps, calls, screen use and charging history. The most useful comparisons come from phones tested under the same workload. Recent results illustrate the range: Tom’s Guide recorded 14 hours 44 minutes for the 2026 Motorola Razr Fold and 12 hours 19 minutes for the Galaxy Z Fold8 in its 5G web-surfing test. Those are controlled test results, not a promise of how long either phone will last in your hands.
What battery life can you expect from a foldable?
Expect results to vary by model and use rather than by the foldable form factor alone. A long web-browsing test can help compare phones, but it cannot predict a particular person’s screen-on time or whether a phone will last a full day. Network reception, display use, apps, calls and messages all affect real-world drain.

Samsung says actual Galaxy Z Fold7 battery life varies with network environment, features and apps, calls and messages, charging history, and other factors. Its cited UX Connect Research assessment used US pre-release SM-F966 devices with default settings over LTE and 5G Sub6 from June 12–20, 2025; it did not test 5G mmWave. Samsung’s comparison page provides that qualification.

Tom’s Guide describes its comparison as web surfing over 5G. Its reported endurance figures show how much results can differ even among premium foldables; they are measurements from that outlet’s test, not guaranteed runtimes for everyday use.

These figures are reported by Tom’s Guide’s Galaxy Z Fold8 review and its Razr Fold battery test report. The Razr Fold’s 6,000 mAh capacity is also listed on Motorola’s specifications page. Capacity is a specification, not a direct conversion into hours: display and network workload, software and test conditions also matter.
Tom’s Guide’s comparison also reports results for other foldables: the 2025 Motorola Razr Ultra at 15 hours 42 minutes, Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold at 12 hours 16 minutes and OnePlus Open at 11 hours 45 minutes. Read those as the publication’s results under its test, not as a general ranking of every use pattern.

How to compare battery claims fairly
- Match the workload. A web-surfing test, video playback loop and mixed daily use are different workloads. Compare results only when the protocol is the same.
- Check network conditions. LTE, 5G Sub6 and 5G mmWave are not interchangeable test conditions, and weak reception can affect drain.
- Keep capacity in perspective. A larger mAh rating does not by itself establish longer endurance; pair the spec with a same-test comparison where available.
- Separate test output from manufacturer claims. Motorola describes the Razr Fold as providing “all-day power” on its US product page, but that is promotional language rather than an independent typical-use measurement. Motorola’s product page includes the claim.

- Open Settings > Battery > Battery usage.
- Review the apps and processes consuming power, then limit or close background activity that you do not need.
Use the phone’s battery controls
- Turn on Battery Saver, or set its scheduling controls when you want it to activate automatically.
- Enable Adaptive Battery to limit battery use by apps you use infrequently.
Reduce ongoing screen and media activity
- Reduce video or music streaming and recording when conserving charge matters.
- Remove or reduce widgets that frequently stream or refresh information.
- Manage apps that continue running in the background when they are not needed.
Use charging protection as a device-specific option
The Razr Fold 2026 guide describes a Battery protection Smart schedule that stops charging at 80% for an hour before the expected unplugging time. It is an optional feature on that device, not a universal charging rule or a guarantee of longer daily runtime. When a power bank helps
A USB-C power bank can provide another recharge when you are away from an outlet; it does not increase the phone’s built-in endurance. Check that the bank’s connector and charging method are compatible with your particular foldable. The cited material does not establish a specific power-bank capacity that suits every model.
